Move Your Blog To A New Web Host - A Needed Service

I just got done moving a bunch of sites to a new web host.

It got me wondering - is this something folks need help doing? I thought it might be a service I could add to my own offerings.

How about it Warriors? Is this something you think many need, or can most all of you transfer blogs, import and export mysql, etc. just fine on your own?

Best Regards,

Carl Ringwall

I believe Jeff Usher does this: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post1732156

I think there would be a definite need for a service like this. There are a ton of people out there flipping websites/blogs.

But even for non-flippers a service like this would be valuable.

Start checking out some freelance sites, that should give you some idea of demand.

You may also want to consider placing an ad in the Warrior For Hire section.

Yes, many people would need a service like that. I used to transfer blogs for $10-$15 and I had a lot of requests. I was actually surprised because there were a lot of good Warriors who were making like $5000 per month but they didn't even know how to upload a file to their hosting account.

Actually, I do not know how to upload a file, ftp etc.

I would pay for such a service.

Which should tell people two things:

1: Up sell this option if applicable to your wso.
2: There are people who can't even upload a file to a hosting account, but they find a way to succeed. If they can do it so can anyone.

If anyone is available, my sites are live, but the content from the SQL databases are loaded and not showing up on the site. I need assistance with this.

I Go Hard = "Slanguage" for putting forth a lot of effort.

Don't be an arse and try to flip something you clearly have no knowledge of against me.

Having been around computers for over quarter of a century, it seems that there are a lot of skills I take for granted that are really in demand by other people... Perhaps I should write my first product about something like this?

But then again, perhaps that is a subject for another thread.

I was thinking the same thing. I've done many blog transfers myself, some exceptionally large ones with tens of thousands of posts (had to split up the SQL imports for that one!) and consolidating many single WP blogs to WPMU (talk about easing blog maintenance!). An informational series would probably be a boon to many, but I'm afraid I might get too technical in the process...would have to pace it in baby steps possibly.

In the short term, I've been thinking of putting together a price list and posting to the classifieds section, so it's good to see that there is actually interest in such services.

Perhaps we should start the WF geek squad. I do think that there is room for a very well explained products about DB migrations, security, and all those technical things that seem to elude a lot of marketers.

I think it is important for everyone to have at least basic understanding of how computers and the net work, I think it would really help people.

While you can and should outsource, there is no substitute for understanding.
