Hi.

I am looking to build a web site for household appliances. What are the ways to obtain images of items such as a kettles as sold by the manufacturer?

  • I owned a photography studio for 38 years, and from being in the industry I do know the way it usually works is the commercial photographer who made the images ownes the copyright. Not the manufacturer.

    The photographer charges according to where and in how many places the photos are to be used.

    If the photos were made in-house by a manufacturer that has an in-house studio, only then the manufacturer owns the images and can give you permission to use them.

    JCox was giving you dangerous advice. There are a couple of trade associations in the photo industry that have lawyers who "go after" people who just grab a shot and use it when they don't own it.
