Just got my FIRST Aweber sign up today - I'm on FIRE baby!

Okay, so it was only a sign-up for a product release announcement.

I'm selling a $7 weight loss report, and since the product isn't written yet... I put a sign-up form on the "purchase now" page, saying something like "If you want to be notified when the product is ready, put your name and e-mail here.

Well, I've had a few people browse over to the "purchase now" page before (maybe 5 or 6), but no one had ever signed up on the announcement list... until today.

By the way, you'll have to forgive my excitement. I have sold products online before... both my own and those of affiliates, but I have never dabbled with list building. So, this is first for me in my IM career.

I don't even have an autoresponder yet... just a personal message saying thanks for signing up, blah, blah, blah.

Wish me luck.

Yes, this is my first "prospect" (not my first sale of a product), and yes it's only for a measly $7 product... but, I'm still stoked.

    Congrats Bradley!

Those first prospects are almost as good as that first sale. It's concrete evidence that the work you are doing has a measurable, definable result.

Just wait until that first sale happens!

It's funny how things progress. I put up a squeeze page a few nights ago for a project that won't be promoted until next week at the earliest. (The freebie isn't even available yet, and I stated that on the page.) And yet, somehow, I already have someone who opted in!

I have no idea how in the world they found it, and why they signed up when there isn't anything there to give them (yet).

It's amazing how people eventually find you once you have some time in, and you've managed to trickle down into other people's networks.

Keep working hard, and you will eventually find yourself in that same, very cool, boat!

That's sort of the approach I took.

I like doing things a little "backward" actually.

Why the hell would I create a product if no one wants to buy it?

      So, I...
      1. Put up a sales page on a WP blog on my own domain
      2. Created a free cover for my imaginary e-book and put that on the page
      3. Wrote some articles and spread those around to the various directories
      4. Created some videos and posted to YouTube
      5. Then, created my Aweber form on the "Buy It Now" page.

      Yes, in that order.

Notice that creating a product isn't listed.

Now that I have gotten some visits to the "Buy It Now" page, I can proceed in creating the actual report/e-book.
