Realistically, how much traffic can I expect from article marketing?

Hi all,
I have a squeeze page with a free ebook that I am using to build my list. I'm looking into various traffic sources, and in regards to article marketing, it's not something I've done before so I am not sure what to expect.

Theoretically, if I were to submit 15-20 keyword rich articles, could I expect a decent amount of sign ups?

    What do you consider "decent"?

15 or 20 articles likely will not get you the traffic you're looking for. Article marketing is about being consistent with article submissions.

Also, keyword richness won't make a difference. You need to make sure that the keywords themselves are relatively low in competition.

Article marketing in general can be very hit and miss, but if you do proper keyword research, then you can reduce your amount of "misses".

I'm sure Steven W. could shed some more light on this though. He's a well established article marketer.

It all depends on how well-written the articles are. Do they target well thought of keywords is the first question that comes to mind.

Article writing is a skill that takes time developing.

your answers are one of the following.
    1. for sure
    2. nope

The articles could be crap and yield no click through. They could be excellent articles that get promoted on the article site, the RSS picked up by a major publisher or several natural links. Keyword rich scares me, sounds like you are intending to create articles to satisfy a SE and not add value to the reader. I'm sure you'll write on topic, in turn you'll end up having the right kws in there.

Bottom line is that articles yield a nice source of targeted people to opt-in for a free product when done properly.

It also really depends on your keywords. There are some more popular keyword focused articles that are going to get read a lot more than smaller niche market articles. Just something to consider. I don't know if you can really figure out how many clicks to expect until you test it out and see. Depends on where the articles are posted to...you'll probably get more clicks from Ezine than some much smaller article sites.

The problem is, its just the same as saying:

"I am going fishing, I have a size 14 hook, how many fish will I catch"

We would need to know the quality of the article, your own way of using the resource box and above all else, the niche.

DO NOT POST YOUR NICHE - It will be ripped off.

So nobody can even remotely post an accurate answer.

Just try it and see, but articles have vastly different results depending on the niche, the keywords, the quality and the resource box.

    Cheers,

I have had success using ehow the most. If you target the topic to a VERY TIGHT how to, you can have results. But the problem is that you need to make it into a how to and not a story.

One of my products that I promote is career services. I had the article on ehow and had 2108 hits from July 2009-December 2009. It gave a glimpse in 6 steps on the ways to do a specific kind of career service. It only touched a fraction of the topic. However, when you went to my Web Property, the user realized - holy macaroni - I need these guys.

38 customers later at an average of $300 a pop, do I need to say more.

On the other hand, promoting a product like FAPTurbo (a Forex product) is so oversaturated. Even if you wrote 1000 articles, your wasting your time. If you have a niche, write and promote and syndicate. Otherwise, find alternative methods.

I have to agree with many of the post above.

It will really depends on the article, niche, the article directory etc

They are to many factors you would have to look at.

I think you should write at least 1 article every day for the next year or
have someone write the articles for you.

Just keep pushing the articles out there.

Yep...I have helped folks here and on the net post several thousand articles and there are just two many variables to answer this post effectively. I WILL say that it is possible to get SIGNIFICANT traffic with just 15 or so articles, but in most cases, that is just a start. If you had high quality articles, posted to high traffic directories, got some others to grab the content and post on their own sites and blogs and coupled the campaign with 2 high quality press releases as well, you could get some nice traffic coming in.

Now, as far as sales go...we have to look at conversion on your site...that opens up a whole new can of worms (hey, I was able to work in the fishing reference from Colin's post!)

It really depends on the number of articles you put out, the ranking of that article, etc. For 1 of my articles in ezine, I get about 15 visitors a day.
