INTERNET MARKETING

If your looking for a nice little graphics program to resize photos, do text and still have the ability to use layers Paint.net is a pretty amazing little program.

Hi Quentin

looks like a promising program, but the video for me only seems to play about a 1/3 of the way 2:55 then starts over.

  I second this recommendation. You won't find a closer clone of Photoshop that is free and can be used online where ever you are. This program kicks over all the other free graphics programs I have ever used.

  This is what I was going to recommend as well. I love it because it's online and I can access it at home AND at work. I also like the downloaded version. I upgraded to get all the features but even the free version is incredibly versatile.

Gimpshop is way outdated... gimp is fine, a bit better than paint... but in all reality nothing even compares to Photoshop, especially when comparing features like ContentAware...

  I was introduced to Paint.net by Ken Anderson as a free alternative to Photoshop.
  
  It so happened that shortly thereafter, Chris Griffin introduced me to ANOTHER free alternative to Photoshop - a good editing tool and photo manager called Splashup (splashupDOTcom) formerly Fauxto, which boosted my self confidence as I found it easier to teach myself some basics .... after coupla YouTube tutorials etc.
  
  It was just what I needed because my skill level at the time was zero = technophobe.
  
  Also, I'm not ashamed to admit that I relished the ease of access to 'Splashup' - works in real time, online = no downloading, no registration = no log in, just jump right in, get familiar with layers and some of the tools, practise my "skills" ...

I've been using GIMP, and it has been serving me well for a long while Maybe once I update my computer I will consider Sumo Paint instead considering the two recommendations I was thinking about the one from Deviantart, but I don't remember the name of the program at the top of my head...

Personally, I'm in love with Snagit which does screen captures as well as editing and is pretty cheap. But the free alternative is of course GIMP...

I've used Sumopaint, GIMP and Paint.net all have Advantages and disadvantages but are really great for alternative to Photoshop and because it free People starting out or don't have the Current Funds To Buy Photoshop still get to make great Graphic.

  I have been using Pixlr, a free online editor with a similar interface to Photoshop. Has a much shorter learning curve than GIMP or Photoshop and can handle most editing tasks. It can't do as much as Photoshop, but it's a good program for someone starting out and it's free.
  
  I'm curious for people that have used Pixlr.....How does it compare to Sumo or Paint.net?

That's cool. Something that is extremely similar to adobe photoshop is GIMP. You can do lots of things on that. I'm not sure about your cool poker chip, but I think you should be able to do something like that there, as well. Just do a search for GIMP image manupulation program and you'll find a FREE download! woo hoo for free!

I'm using GIMP anytime. Once you learn how to use it (and google is full of tutorials and howto's) it's verry easy to use and doesn't use a lot of resources. For me that's a great program and I can use it on linux, mac os x and windows!

  I use paint.net and Sumo(online version) and find they are quite good.
  Paint.net also has an active forum with many tutorials, plugins(effects)
  
  Just google ... forums paint.net
  
  But of course there is no substitute for Photoshop.
  That is if you can afford it.

I'll just add my voice to the GIMP choir here. Among the free programs, it definitely has the most capabilities and isn't that hard to use at all.

You can find easy to follow, step-by-step tutorials for GIMP all over the place.

Always remember though that it really isn't the software that makes great images, it's people who do, so don't expect miracles regardless of the software if this is your first time around the block

paint.net is awesome. i found seashore is a mspaint like program for the mac not quite paint.net, but then again i use ps on my mac.
