The 3 biggest players (but not maybe the best for everyone) are Aweber, Getresponse and email aces. There are also a couple of warriors that offer autoresponders in the WSO section you might like to check.
The main thing everyone looks for is deliverability. The 3 biggies are some of the best at this although Aweber seems to have had a 'wobble' recently.

Steve, since you are new here you may not know this but this forum has a search function.

Asking about autoresponders is one of topics that NEVER stops being asked BUT by doing a search you WILL find 196 PAGES on that topic!

I use Getresponse and I'm happy with their service.

This is reliable company in my opinion and apart from autoresponder they provide also some extra good services such as guaranteed leads.

        Best regards
        Dan

I've tried both aweber Getresponse. From my personal experience, getresponse is a little more user friendly, and you can purchase high quality leads for ypour list. You can also do without the double opt in feature so you leads get immediate access to what you're offering them. For me, get responce is just an easier interface. There's a link in my signiture to their site.

My top 4 list is Aweber, Get Response, Smart Autoresponder and Parabots (or EbizAC).

Aweber had problems a few weeks ago, but it seems like things are back to normal (confirmation emails are going out, user panel has no glitches etc)

    Hey Steve,

I would go with either Getresponse.com or Aweber.com. They are both very good in my view.

I am sure that there are others in the market but these are both used by some of the TOP internet and online network marketers.

    Hope that this has helped.

I host autoresponse plus myself. I used to be using Aweber...but their support sucks, so I host my own.

Please note that Aweber still has the best delivery rate...

If you are very new to script installations and maintenance, you better go with aweber. I never heard of norabots though.

I have been using AutomatedSalesMachine.com which is a PL for 1 Shopping cart and I have been really happy with their service other than the deliverability with @yahoo.com email accounts.

They can't see to get them delivered.

Aweber has many functions that beneficial to experienced IMers and GetResponse works great for intermediate users (and costs less and it is less difficult to "get up to speed")

Two of the most popular and most used autoresponders are Aweber and Getresponse. I have always been using getresponse and found it very easy to use. They also have great tutorials.

I use iContact at the moment and am very happy with them. Their community component is indexed fairly quickly by Google so yields some nice SEO benefits.

I've also used aWeber, getresponse, brontomail, and constantcontact. All are professional organizations and provide competent service. Dr. Wilson of web marketing today had a pretty good report on autoresponders a while back you may want to check out.

For scripts, I've used many - from majordomo to phplist. Most work well, but have many drawbacks - the major one being delivery rates and infrastructure support. That is if you're on a shared server, running an autoresponder can cause problems for you. The best one I've used has been Autoresponse Plus.

On the PC I've used WorldMerge and have been happy with it. Its more a newsletter delivery system than a true autoresponder though. The drawbacks from scripts are 10 fold for PC based systems though. You need to be careful so you don't get your account suspended or terminated - including your net access. Another big PC based program is mailloop from IMC - but I've never used it so can't comment.

    cheers,

Your own script running on your webserver is the least expensive way. The script can be had from free to a couple of hundred dollars (AutoRepsonse Plus) or more.

You can use your own to import a list that you already have and you know that the subscribers have opted in. You can import them without their having to opt in again to the list.

As inexpensive as these very important tools are, maybe you would benefit from having both your own and subscribe to a service.

Installation of scripts was a big problem in the past so some autoresponder scripts offer free installation for you.

Sometimes you might need a little tweaking of the autoresponder to get it to do exactly what you want it to so one of the little guys may be more responsive to you needs.

    Hi Steve,

I use the Autoresponders as part of the 1shoppingcart package. I find them great, very easy to use.

Probably not the cheapest, but very good.

I've used Aweber for years and wouldn't consider switching. To me, it's easy to use, packed with features and has great delivery.

Yes, with the price change it can be more expensive for those new users with a large list. But by the time you reach that point you will be making more money and using Aweber may well be one of the reasons for your success.
