Seriously guys is A.M dying?

With all the spinners, mass installing, spamming, crap info, etc...has A.M. had its day? I am not seeing anythign like the results I was a few years ago. I must admit I take all info from article sites like E.Z.A. with a huge grain of salt.

Maybe I am stuck in 2003 mode when it needs to be done differently now? Please give me your opinions

It's interesting that you say that because a while back I was "stuck in 2003 mode".

I was still doing things the way I did years ago and not making any headway.

I finally realized that it takes a LOT more articles now then it did back then.

The good news is that (for me at least) once they are all done, it tends to be mostly a "set and forget" kind of thing where the money keeps rolling in. I still have sites that I promoted with articles 4 or 5 years ago that make steady money and I haven't done a thing to them.

I don't think it's dead at all. The marketers who put in more will sell more. It's that simple. People are always buying things.

Of course it's had it's day. Google frowns on anything to do with commercialism and selling which is why it is slowly cracking down. They are about to change their algorithm again and it may well see AM off.

It's always better to build a website and provide content....Google likes this and will reward you. It takes time, but it happens.

No, they just dislike the middle men (affiliates). They feel they are taking a percentage of their profits that is rightfuly theirs.

      You made me smile...

And perhaps let out a little giggle.

Anyway, back on topic. As someone else mentioned it isn't dying, just evolving, you have to evolve with it or see it's effectiveness for you die.

        Dead and buried.

I suggest you try something else like...

        PPC
        Blogging
        CPA
        Social Networking
        SEO
        List Building
        Ad Buys

        Oh wait...they're all dead too.

Hmmm....maybe we should all just pack up our computers and go get
        jobs at Burger King

I hear you get free food as an employee.

I have to say I agree with you skyfox to a large extent. Video Marketing could be set to upstage Article Marketing because with this fast pace world we live in people may prefer to watch a video than spend time reading anything.

The immediate gratification mentality may will see the demise of of AM

While I agree that video marketing will grow, I don't believe that it will cause the demise of article marketing.

Your "immediate gratification" reason is the very reason why. If I want some information quick, I'm going to read it because I can read/skim through something a lot quicker than somebody can explain something in video.

Many times, if I click on a link only to see that it's a video I will click back because I don't want to sit through the whole darn thing to get the info I want...you can't skim through for what you want with video.

Video is nice and fancy and all, but article marketing is not going away IMO.

      Chris

As soon as someone develops a technology and makes it freely avaliable to be able to search videos for words. So for instance if I have a video of someone using windows xp I can search for "backup" and it shows all the time references and contexts where this term is used.

Being searchable and easy to scan read is the main advantage text has in my opinion. With all the voice recognition software out there I am surprised google hasn't already done this.

I have several video courses on certain points but if I need to reference something quickly I will look at a book as it is easier to find just the info I want.

Right I sense you have a W.S.O. that does just that then?

Not dying, 'evolving'. Things change with Ezinearticles nearly every month - if you can keep up with the trends then there's still plenty money to be made with article marketing. Those who think it's dying just aren't doing it right.

Not dead, but much different and more difficult than it used to be. It has gotten a lot harder with the high increase in competition and saturation. If you have real quality, there's no reason to give up.

Oh and Steven you can also wear those paper King crown hats and Burger King. But don't promote that food, don't you know how unhealthy and high in fat and calories it is?

Maybe we should create an AM roundtable discussion webinar...I know lots of my clients who pay me A LOT each and every month and I know they are making money. I think much of it has to do with where they are posting the content...finding better and more targeted sources...social bookmarking/network sites that have quality targeted users/members. Video is GREAT, but I don't think words will go away just because video will become much more viable as technology increases...I believe AM will be around for awhile...certainly may be LESS important, but will probably be a cog in the machine for quite some time.

Yes, I make money creating content, but even if that business shut down, I have 3 additional sources of income I could ramp up. I am just speaking from a logical angle...words exist...people will read words in the future as today.

Article Marketing is like any other tactic that gets hot. In the beginning, just showing up is enough. When things get crowded, you have to show up and stand out. When the exploiters show up, you have to stand out even more. Eventually, the more ambitious start looking for greener pastures. In this case, it means finding new places to place articles and new strategies for crafting those articles. It means finding new markets to enter.

As for video marketing, I think that will evolve as well. "Videos" made up of a power point with scrolling article text will start getting the same level of respect that badly-spun junk articles get now.

I don't understand the argument that people are so pressed for time that they would rather watch video than read. If I'm pressed for time, I'd rather spend 45 seconds reading your short article than waste 4-5 minutes waiting for the text to scroll by while I listen to the same tired stock music clip.

If anything, I'd rather get straight audio so I can listen while doing otherwise essential but non-productive things - driving, buying groceries, waiting at the doctor's office, yard work, etc.

It's the death of crap all over
    again.

    Crap always dies, eventually.

People who do things right will
    always stick around; people
    who do crap will not.

It has *NOTHING* to do with
    affiliates or article marketing
(which I think is a generally
    inefficient model) - it has
    everything to do with lazy
    people doing crap work and
wanting to get paid like they've
    made a valuable contribution.

No death, just the lines moved. Google will never ever stop wanting more content. The quality of it, how you use it that is the deciding factor. Yes 70% of the searches are for video , but writing will never die. AM dying, do not think so.

Yup, everything is saturated and there are no more places to advertise......It think that Mcdonalds is better to get a job. They pay more.......

Here is an example about MLM online and how people claim that it is saturated:

Just like people saying that MLM online is saturated. Let's see, there are almost 8 BILLION people in the world. Now, let's say that out of that 8 BILLION people, only 200 million of them already are in MLM online and offline. That leaves you with 7,800,000,000 more people to prospect and get a few of them to become your future leaders because this business is all about building leaders under you in your team.

So what do you think? Is this business saturated or not?

    I don't think so.

Article Marketing is not dead by any means and never will be, the sharing of information is what everything is built upon. It will change and continue to evolve but it will not die.

As for video - I do not think is will over-take articles by any means. Many do not like videos and many are still using dialup. I also say this due the the fact that css3 is coming out and with css3 you are able to add voice to text. No flash, audio players, or none of that needed. This is already working under the browser "Opera" and will soon work under FireFox, Safari, and IE9 (Yes I said IE9) ...

    Hi Steven:

Article marketing is not dead, but I can get more people using video on youtube with a mini movie.

I actually worked at Burger King Distribution Systems years ago. They had a satellite GPS to track their trucks. The place was worse than concentration camp in nazi germany. My boss made Hitler look like a nice guy. You cannot surf or do anything anymore.

As for affiliate marketing, I helped a setup up affs for a company. They were in the biz of health care. Their main product was a diet pill they wanted people to sell on commission. They were selling a bottle with 30 pills for $79.95 (one month supply) and they discounted it to $49.95 if you bought a supply for one year.

The owner told me that it cost them 50 cents to produce a 50 dollar bottle and I had some experience running internet campaigns for other companies.

At first commission was 30% so you get like $15 for each bottle you move. Then he cut is to 20% so it was ten bucks, but he wanted still more. Years later he pays out only 4% commission. However, that is not all, he now wants you to pay him $500 per year. Yeah, for the opportunity to sell his mess.
