PLR stuff is mainly generalized information, your own products to sell works better, just look at what all of the gurus are doing, if plr was more profitable they'd be doing that.

Personally for yourself, since its your first venture I think you would have much more success and a much lower risk ratio if you were to purchase PLR.

However you need to ensure that you purchase high quality PLR not just re-hashed garbage. The WSO section is a great place to start with some excellent offers available there.

Things to look for are exclusivity, such as how many people the PLR seller is giving the material to.

The price for high quality PLR you would be looking at $50-$200 per product depending on what sort of material it comes with.

The material the package includes such as sale page, squeeze page, articles, videos, mp3, promotional material, landing pages, affiliate material, length of ebook guide, short reports...

    Hope this helps.

I have created hundreds of products from scratch and while over time I have gotten it down to a science, it is a lot of work the first few times. It can also get expensive.

Expect to spend at least $1500 if you outsource most of the work and it is not a super big product. Of course you can create it yourself, but writing a book or even a video script can be tough if you have not done it before.

I would start with PLR but make sure you pick a topic you have a little bit of a passion for. It is way easier to work on something you are interested in personally.

    Now rebrand, rebrand, rebrand.

Do not sell the PLR product as you get it, why compete with anyone else if you do not have to on the same product.

Change the site graphics, totally re-write the sales letter, totally re-write the ebook. Even if you just use the PLR ebook as a outline or guide, it will be easier starting with that completed product, to create your new product that it will be starting from scratch. (assuming the PLR you start with is not junk to begin with).

Another idea is take a PLR ebook and change it up a bit and then use it as the script for a video set. don't even sell it as an ebook when you turn it into videos it will be your own unique product with half the work it would be starting from scratch.

You can always hire someone to re-write the book a little if it needs to be a little better or cover something new to better targer your niche.

Once you have changed up a few PLR products then consider moving into creating your own products from scratch with your newly earned experience.

    Good luck, and take action!

In my opinion the best option is to create your own products and use the plr stuff as goo research material. The one thing that is great about the internet is that you can basically find anything you want for free, you just have to do the research. Being able to create your own product from scratch will get you the best results. Having said that, I do know people that have done really well selling PLR products. If you are good and consistent, you will make it.

I am a 'newbie' and only got into internet marketing last summer. And after spending months and months looking for quality PLR products - I came to the conclusion that the aren't that many!

I bought lots and lots of low-quality stuff, from people who just want to make a quick buck. (I'm sure there are quality products out there...)

So in the end, I decided to produce my own products - it the best way i think - at least I know I'll get a quality product to sell.

And, although my product cost me well over $1,000 to produce, It bought me in $2,153.85 in just the first 16 days - so it was well worth while.

I'm currently working on my second project - in the get fit/weight loss niche - again I've started to produce my own eBook - although its costly getting quality writers and designers to put it together - the results are stunning. You'll end up with a world-class, professional looking product.

And I know the investment is worthwhile because I'll have a quality, unique and world-class product that will actually help people do what it says it will... so it WILL sell if you market it correctly. That's what i've learned in my short time in Internet marketing.

What ever you decide, good luck!

trhanks to every one that has contrributed to this thread i really appreciate your candid opinions.

truly i know that product creation is the ultimate in internet marketing, but presently creating a product from scratch will really upset my wallet dearly and since i am in a kind of shoe string budget i thought i should set up a plr campaign to see if i could make up to a reasonable amount to outsource the creation of a product for me.

    Thanks once again

If you want to profit from PLR, you have to totally remodel it and make it your own.

    - change the title, graphics, salescopy, color, and the content by beefing it up with our own stuff.

I mainly just use PLR for ideas, and the minisite graphics if it is really good.

The problem with PLR is there is no uniqueness. Having a USP(unique selling proposition) is a key to building a long term stream of income from a product launch.

I'm not even on the radar in the IM world - I'm sort of unique.
I want to make money online without being in the IM scene...it's an odd idea, but I know my skills and this IM stuff is not in my skill set.

That said, I do know a bunch of peeps that are "in" the IM realm and doing fairly well making some decent $$$ with it.
A few have tried to convert me into the wonderful land of IM and profits...
makes my head hurt just thinking about all this stuff.

But I've been given a few PLR packages to tempt me to get on board. Or at least, give me some chance at making a few bucks.

Trouble is I haven't a clue what to do with them...nada, zip, zippo.

What do I do with these folders and all this "stuff"?

I know I'd said I didn't know what niche to pick or how to start...but I've got tons of these packages - you'd think when I state that I don't know what to do...that I'd get some instructions...

Wrong - they give me more PLR packages!

I think these IM peeps are great, they are very nice wanting to help and I don't want to seem ungrateful - but I would really like to know what to do and how to make $$ with them.

Any one have some instructions for what to do with these things? Thanks!

Obviously creating and promoting your own products is better way to go but don't forget conversions only happen if u have good quality product, targetted traffic and great compelling salesletter.

No point in having your own product if u do not meet the list stated above because u will have just spend money in production and get very few sales if any. This is especially so in the case of saturated markets like 'make money'.

At the end of day, you may as well market affiliate products with their great salesletters and so on if you're product does not convert due to weak salesletter.
