How to Get Video Reviews For a Non-IM Product?

Any idea on how to do this? The real problem is in finding the people to give me a good, honest review on video (showing their face) about my non-IM niche product.

Obviously a good idea would be to go where these people are (a forum, popular blog, etc.) but there aren't any in my niche and given the nature of the niche most people wouldn't be too used to the idea of giving an on-camera review, so any ideas on how I could find people to do this?

Would hiring actors be a reasonable idea?

If no one wants to be on camera, just do an audio with their picture, there's no point in wasting all of that time looking for people to do video testimonials if its going to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack... Besides most video testimonials that I see in make money markets are either paid actors or JV partners who expect the same testimonials in return.

    Andrew, a couple of options:

    1. Email them (you have got them on a list haven't you?)
    2. Put up a page asking for reviews (may need an incentive to get a response)

If it's your product, and it works, then it shouldn't be too hard to do. But as you say, if the topic is sensitive, then it might just not be possible.

The other alternative is get an audio/text based review from them (very easy), and ask if the don't mind an actor doing a video representing them (with fake names to protect their privacy of course).

P.S 0 - there are no forums or blogs in your niche? that's a worry?!

After they purchase the product, e-mail them asking for a video testimonial.

Go to YouTube and find people in your niche creating videos and ask them for a video review. If you have an affiliate program setup, you can also get them to join that. (AND MAKE SOME MONEY ONLINE!!!!)

Why do I get the feeling this might be the yeast infection or male enhancement niche where people won't go on video...

@Mark, lol. Believe it or not it's nothing that personal it's just in an odd niche where people aren't necessarily comfortable with it (I know that doesn't really help ) Anyway, I like the idea of having a follow up email asking for a video review, that's a good one. I already have a follow up email asking to join as an affiliate so that's a good idea...

Here's a thought - make a video for youtube or where ever, you website etc. Tell people you are looking for a on cam video review and you will give them something extra and of value or a discount for said review. Give them a list of things you want addressed on the video.

I reviewed a piece of software last year in my industry that used actors that made their product look very weak and transparent, which it was - in many ways. My scathing review and outting of their actors portraying online poker players that claimed alarming win rates saw this entire site and thier product get taken off the market within months.

So I gotta recommend you not use actors.

Here's an idea. Do you have people in your niche, using your product, who live nearby? If you can go meet them, with Flip camera in hand, and just ask them if they'd do a 1-minute interview, you could get a very good testimonial. By asking them questions on camera, you could make sure their testimonial answers questions prospects would have.

This is a good one. I tossed around a similar idea since I knew that people locally would be much more willing to do it, especially if I was there interviewing them or something. Thank you!
