question on hosting.....

can someone please help me with this.. i can't seem to find and answer anywhere...

I have one domain/hosting plan in the health niche and i went through godddy (so it's 10$ for the domain and 4.95/month for the hosting).

I also have my blog which i host through godaddy (same deal.. 10$ domain and 4.95/month hosting)

HOWEVER someone tell me that you can host multiple domains on a single hosting account... Is this possible..?

Do i only need one hosting account for both of these domains?

Thanks -Matt

Yes there are a number of hosting companies that allow you to add multiple domains and even sell your own hosting.

    I have PM'ed you.

Get yourself a Hostgator Resellers account and you can host a bundle of sites.

On the Hostgator side you use WHM (Web Host Manager) to setup accounts for each of your domains. Keep Go Daddy as your domain registrar (or even better move to NameCheap) and just set your nameservers to match the ones provided by Hostgator.

You'll have a real CPanel instead of that piece of trash that Go Daddy gives you, as well as much better support. And if you Google for a coupon you can probably get your first month for next to nothing.

    • Good advice, Bill, but based on the question I would say that a basic shared account would be even better. It doesn't sound like a reseller account would be necessary.

So to the original poster, get a shared account with HostGator. Get their Baby Croc package that runs about $8/month. You can have unlimited domains

P.S. You could get a reseller account as well but you'll pay $25/month for that and for what you're doing, it's not necessary. And be sure you move your two current sites to HostGator as well so you can dump the GoDaddy monthly fees.

        Hey Matt,

I'm doing exactly what Travis described. It's cheap and it's easy.

The only downside I suppose would be if I wanted to sell off one of my sites - it would be harder to do because it's not 'standalone', in the way it would be with a reseller account, Bill's suggestion.

But I'm not planning on doing that presently, and if you aren't either, just using the addondomain feature of the baby croc package would do the trick.

A reseller plan is always a good choice, and you don't need to spend $25. There are plans available for under $10 per month.
