After A Customer Pays Through Paypal How Do I Get Them To The Download Page?

I have a new squeeze page with a short video and an optin to get additional information. This is simple enough. It is the "now typical" video squeeze page. The "additional information" page is a sales page with Paypal as the payment processor.

After a customer pays at Paypal, how do I take them to the download page?

In the past I have used the $7 script to take buyers to the download page, but it only works with a sales page - not with an squeeze/optin page being in there first. Once I throw a squeeze page into the mix, the $7 won't do. It was not designed with this process in mind.

I bought RAP, looked at the tutorial videos the seller included, and that looks a little too confusing for me to learn quickly.

Will DL Guard let me take viewers from squeeze page to sales page to Paypal to download? Will DL Guard work with Aweber to make a separate list of those who buy?

Thus the squeeze page would give me the list (in Aweber) of interested people, and take them to the sales page. Then DL Guard (through Aweber) would give me a list of the buyers and take them to the download page.

Is this correct?

Is there an easier way?

When you create a PayPal button it gives you the option to enter a URL of the page they go to after checkout.

I've got DL Guard myself, but have not had a chance to test it, but I do know it works with Aweber and PayPal.

when u create ur button. Go to step 3 "customise advanced features"
scroll down and there should be the option "Take customers to this URL when they finish checkout" select it and enter the url you want them to be taken to after they have paid for ur stuff.

If u wanna build a list of buyers. After they buy, redirect them to an thank you opt-in form. Thank them for buyin ur product/service.
Ask them for name & email address so you can send them the download details.

    Don,

RAP sets up a lot like the $7 script does (uses templates) but has a centralized admin panel to control things. Once it's installed and you have your first product set up, it all becomes easier to do. The template pages are all HTML, containing the PHP tokens RAP uses, so you can modify at will.

It also has the affiliate management part that works very well.

One thing I do want to point out, is inserting the squeeze page and making people sign up to get the download is frowned upon by PayPal.

    Thanks,

    John

    You're absolutely over complicating this.

When they sign up to the squeeze page, use the autoresponder's "redirect to URL" feature to move them into the "additional info" page with Paypal button.

In Paypal's button setup, create a "redirect to URL" page again to take them to the thank you page.

Yes, DLGuard can do this...so can cheaper solutions by Big Mike.

That is exactly what I want to set up. Offline advertising will send people to the squeeze page. After they "get squeezed" I can even send them an email directing them to the information (sales) page.

My previous experience with the $7 script used it to handle the Paypal and download page. In creating a Paypal button, I missed the part where they will send people to the download.

@John - Thank you, I didn't realize the part about Paypal not wanting us to "squeeze" first, sell later. If I were to send people to Aweber, then email a salesletter (page) to them, I suspect Paypal wouldn't care.

Essentially that is what I am trying to do here, but have Aweber send people directly to the sales page so I don't have to go back later and email to everyone.

I wonder how others (the G.U.R.U.s) do it with their video squeeze page taking people to the sales page, and Paypal handling the transaction.

I've worked the technical scenes for a few gurus.

They're not using Paypal unless it's a one-off shopping cart type purchase. In those cases, it's a simple cart with download details sent via email or via URL redirect.

Most are actually using Authorize.net/Powerpay to offer upsells after the initial purchase. They also use more robust systems like InfusionSoft or Nanacast.

Their checkout methods make my head spin...but they work.

You are welcome. FYI, RAP has the integration feature that makes the sign up seamless without the squeeze page. The squeeze page in RAP is a throwback to the $7 script, but I only have one person out of many that still uses it and I am getting him switched over.

RAP also has the 'presell' feature that allows you to have people opt in first before getting to the sales page. A lot of marketers are doing that now.

You know, if you are having problems with RAP, you are more than welcome to PM me.

        Thanks,

        John

Firstly directing your new customer to designated page of your choice, Thats easy. U do that when using paypla to create a buy now button where at the end paypal asks u to put in url for the page you want them directed to.

And this obviously is your downlad/thank u page. Also I think with this set up after making payment customer does not exactly get send off straight to your selected site but instead they get taken to paypal payment confirmed page which shows up only for few seconds before your desigmated download page shows up. But I think u can even overcome that if u really want them straight to be directed to your designated page and not that paypal page show up for few seconds. To do that you go to 'website payment prefernce' section and select 'auto run' feature on and under it type in your download page.

As for having a buyers list which gets triggered at stage of customer payment, thats easy. If using WAweber, u njust need to create a new list just for this specific purpose and set up email parser with paypal orders. This u can do when u r logged in your Aweber account. Its easy to follow and do.

I don't think Paypal has problem with this setup:
optin page > redirect (thankyou or confirm) to sales page > PP payment > download

It does have problem if you insert your squeeze page in between the payment and download (as it is suggested by 7dollarscript).
Actually, I have such a setup but the sign-up is NOT mandatory: the buyer can sign up or skip to the download page.

And a final thought: if you are familiar with the 7dollarscript it can be used... just don't mix the squeeze page in the script.
example.com = squeeze page, when submitting > redirect to
example.com/subdir/ = where you have installed your $7 script... and the rest you know
