7 Day "Action Plan" How To Enter Any Niche And Turn A Profit In 7 Days

Warning: I may or may not reference a website you have already visited today, a panther on speed, or suggest you give yourself a drug test in this post.

When I look around here I see a lot of questions being asked. In fact, most of the posts I have made here have been answering questions. I truly feel that the forum needs some more "how to" content. Don't get me wrong, I have seen plenty of good threads pertaining to - how to - but I noticed that get quickly get buried in all the questions. So I wanted to give back to the community and write up my own little "how to."

Okay, enough "how to's" for one post already...

I want to talk about entering a niche and turning a profit in as little as 7 days. I guess you can call this a "7 day action plan." This is not an advanced guide, and you won't read anything groundbreaking. Rather this is a compiled formula of proven strategy's. Okay, enough with the intro already - where's the bacon?!

DAY 1

I hope you made your coffee already because day 1 is all about selecting things. Today you get to go out there and find a niche to enter into. So, how in the world do you find a niche? Well, that's a good question and it can be answered pretty easily actually. Let other people tell you what niche to promote.

43 Things is a website where people tell you their goals. This is a great place to start. If you go to the homepage you can see tags, the larger the tag the more popular it is. Easy! I like to go to their "Zeitgeist" section and look at the most popular goals.

Zeitgeist on 43 Things

There's a link for ya. Anyways, scan through the goals and see if that gets any ideas flowing through your head. Obviously health is going to come up a lot - but with a bit of digging I know you can come up with something more original.

Answer websites are good as well. Yahoo answers is very popular. I won't go into any details on site usage here. But, here's a link.

Yahoo! Answers - Home

Once you found your niche it's time to make sure you have hosting, and a domain name. For hosting I suggest Host Gator.

Web Hosting Services, Reseller Hosting, and Dedicated Servers by HostGator

You can usually get your first month of hosting for 1 cent. Check out this resource for coupon codes.

http://www.retailmenot.com/view/hostgator.com

Now you need a domain name. I strongly suggest you use a .com domain for branding purposes. Here are two places to find domain names.

Namecheap.com - Cheap domain name registration, renewal and transfers - Free SSL Certificates - Web Hosting - Free URL Forwarding, e-mail forwarding and DNS services are included with our cheap domain names registration service
Browser Update Page

Now it's time to set everything up. If you chose Host Gator you should have no problem installing wordpress and finding a suitable theme. There are loads of tutorials on how to set up wordpress, install a theme, and which settings to use.

While everything is setting up I suggest you go and grab an account at Aweber.

https://www.aweber.com/

The first month will only cost you $1. Don't worry though if you stick to the plan you will make your costs back quickly.

It may seem like a lot to do but it's really not. Which is why we are not done with day 1 yet. For an experienced webmaster this will only take 1-2 hours (possibly more if your on Facebook, Twitter, ect). Which if you are you might as well setup a Twitter account, as well as any other social networking accounts you desire.

Now it's time to start creating content - or buying it. Take the rest of the day to write or purchase 5-7 quality articles. These articles will be for your blog.

When you setup your blog post an article a day to start, get at least 5 articles up before day 7.

DAY 2

Okay, day 1 over you should have everything setup and ready to go. Hopefully you messed around with Wordpress and Aweber and learned how to use them. If not I suggest you do this now.

In day 2 we are going to focus on content creation. Content creation is very important, we want to try and get as much content out there as possible. The reason for this will become clear later. But for now focus on creating as much content as you can handle. Write as many articles as you can handle. Make sure you do keyword research before hand and make sure you use proper SEO techniques in your articles.

DAY 3

You need to create a product that you are going to give away or "bribe" your visitors for their email address. This product is usually in the form of a short report. 5-10 pages of free content will do the trick. Don't focus on making it perfect just yet - but rather getting it done. You can always come back and refine it. Remember those articles you wrote yesterday? Well you can combine 5 of them to make a quick report if you want!

Okay, now it's time to create a squeeze page. Make a new directory on your website so the URL looks like: http://yoursite.com/name-of-squeeze-page. Now create your squeeze page. I don't want to go into too much detail about this but I will outline the important bits.

1. Give them no other options. They can either opt-in to your list, or they can leave. Simple as that.
2. Make your headline compelling. It has to make a big promise (which your free product will deliver on).
3. Use bullets - make sure you focus on how the user is going to benefit from your product rather than telling them the contents of it.
4. Have a strong call to action above the fold.

Do a bit of research if you don't know how to make a squeeze page. It is a fairly simple process, and once you do it one time you will be able to easily replicate the technique.

Right after you make your squeeze page you need to make a "Thank You" page. This page will thank the user for subscribing and instruct them to confirm your email so they can get their free product.

When you are finished with the squeeze page you need to give your readers a follow up sequence. When they opt-in to your list they will receive a series of follow up messages, usually one every day or two. Make sure your follow up sequence is full of juicy content. You want to attain "guru" status in their minds. You want them to be waiting for your next email, and hanging on your every word.

You can take 5 articles you have already written and make a follow up sequence. I don't suggest using blatant promotion right away, but rather passive. You can link back to your product in your articles, or blog posts, or on a banner on your site but for right now don't just send them an email saying "buy my info product."

I digress, my apologies - let's move on.

Oh, your done with all this already and you still have free time? Write more content!

DAY 4

Today you get to create your own info product. Or buy one if you can. Either way, you are going to acquire a product to sell to your list today. If you are creating an info product and you have never made one before then I suggest you just sit down and start typing. Believe it or not just starting it is a huge step. Once you start writing let your inner-self flow through your fingertips and put a touch of personality on it. This keeps your writing more interesting.

More quick tips to writing:

write out points you want to make. Then form paragraphs around them. For example, I could have just said "write out points you want to make" but instead I expanded to show you an example of how to form a paragraph around a point.

Write short paragraphs. When people see walls of text they turn and run quicker than a panther on crack.

Complete your thoughts before you go on break. Don't get up in the middle of a paragraph.

Write quicker. Don't sit there and think about it - just write. Your going to proof read it anyways.

Okay, by now you have done the damn thing and written your info product (or, bought one). Now you need a sales page. Depending on how burned out you are you can start making the sales page. Either way you probably won't finish it until...

DAY 5

Sales page creation is under way. If your a natural born copywriter you will love today. Otherwise, you may find yourself pulling out your hair. It's okay - if you get frustrated go and take a break. Take your mind off things for 20 minutes then come back fresh.

Making a sales page is not that hard. Tweaking and fine tuning a sales page can be a pain. But that can be done in your free time over the next few days - for now just make it as best as you can.

Tips:

Go to the copywriters forum and try to soak up as much info as possible. Seriously, I could write a novel on making a sales page and I don't know squat about it (compared to some of the people here).

If you do finish your sales page I suggest you go back and reread your info product. When your done with that take a break for 30 then go back and reread your info product again. If you like to work yourself to death and you still need more stuff to do today then write some more articles because your going to need them.

DAY 6

Go back to your sales page and start making changes (unless of course you are a copywriter or have done this before). Try to soak up more info on copywriting and keep tweaking the page.

Reread your ebook 2 more times today and give it to a friend to read. Ask your friend if you need to add anything to the product.

Go back and refine everything right now. Reread your articles, are they good enough? Work on your sales page and product.

When your done, write as many articles as you can. Tomorrow, your going to need them.

DAY 7

Wake up and pour yourself a cup of coffee. Take a moment and think about what you have done in the past week. You have a website, a list setup, a squeeze page, content, and a product ready to sell. Now slam that coffee cause it's time to get to work!

By now you should have 20 articles written. I know I didn't tell you to write 20 articles but if you want to half ass this then go ahead, you are only hurting yourself.

Submit 10 articles or more if you can to EZineArticles. EzineArticles Submission - Submit Your Best Quality Original Articles For Massive Exposure, Ezine Publishers Get 25 Free Article Reprints

In the resource box make sure you point to your squeeze page, and not back to your blog. Try to make the resource box flow as part of the article, you will get a higher click through rate.

Now go out and find the top blogs in your niche. Use an reader program such as Google Reader http://www.google.com/reader/ to stay on top of all the latest news in your niche. Start making blog comments on the popular blogs and contact the owners to see if you can secure a guest posting spot.

Use your articles for guest posting. This will bring you traffic a lot faster than standard bum marketing. Whenever you make a comment, or write a guest post always point back to your squeeze page.

This is a good start for getting traffic but it is by no means a complete guide. Obviously you should use traffic getting techniques that work for you. But this isn't a guide to SEO, or to getting traffic. This is a guide on how to start a business.

Promote your site as much as you can. There are endless ways to promote it. Think outside the box. Ask webmasters in your niche for joint ventures, content swaps, ad swaps, ect. Don't be afraid to contact 20 people a day if that's what it takes. Finding the right JV partner can really skyrocket your business faster than anything else.

Some questions that you haven't asked yet...

Why a blog?

A blog helps put a face behind a name. Or in this case a website behind a list. It will help establish credibility and branding - instead of a user going "who the hell is this guy emailing me?" Hopefully you will point them to your blog on occasion so they remember who you are.

How do I setup...?

Ask Google. Seriously, I don't want to write a novel here - just giving back to the community.

But I don't know anything about the niche I'm in...

That's okay! But you will need to do extra work. Do your research. When people buy info products they are looking for a solution. Often times your 5 hours of research will save somebody else 30 minutes of research and you would be surprised at how many people are willing to pay for that.

A note on content:

Your content is YOU. It is your business. Keep that in mind. If you write quality content, you will have much better results. Write quality content, or buy quality content - those are your options.

A note on testing:

Just because you set everything up doesn't mean you can't refine it. Test everything you can. Test your squeeze page, your sales page, even the content you send out. Test your email headlines - test your pee while your at it and make sure your getting enough nutrients - otherwise, how will you ever know?

Okay, I think I've done my duty. But of course, ask any questions that pop into your head and I'll be happy to come back and answer them as best as I can.

Oh, and don't forget to take action! <=== Holy crap it's bold, underlined, and in italics do you think it's important?

    1000 points to you.

Great post! Nicely put and easy to understand. When summarized like this, one realizes that its really a simple process and if you can GET STARTED and just do the basics everyday, then anybody can make money online.

The complex tricky advanced stuff can be added later.

Nicely done, thank you for the effort you put into that!

I dont know how to figure this out yet.

      Hi Travis,

Try picking a niche and sticking with it. That is the best advice I can give you. Obviously you want to find a niche where people are spending money. Generally, people are spending money on things they need or want.

When your looking for a niche try to identify with your target audience. Everyday somebody is going to go online and search for a way to cure their panic attack, weight problem, sex problem, girlfriend troubles, sleeping problem, or money troubles.

Likewise, people also want to cure their golf slice, learn how to pick up women, want a travel guide, want to learn the drums, ect...

Once you find something that people need or want do some research and see if people are spending money to cure their need, or quell their want. Are people paying for advertisements that cure panic attacks? Is there a Clickbank product on how to play the guitar? Are there forums in your target niche, more than likely - how many active users does it have?

I hope you get some ideas from this. No matter what niche you choose your likely to have competition - that's usually a good thing as it shows there is money to be made. As long as you package your ideas in a different way you should be able to pull a profit.

Once you find a decent niche it's just a manner of driving traffic. Once you have traffic it's a manner of converting that traffic. At which point all you have to do is scale up your traffic to receive more money.

Don't over think it. Simply, and take action.

I think I understand what your trying to say. And while reading your post I actually came across a flaw in my post. It should probably include a resource section. So, (at some point in my day today) I'll compile a list of resources that should be easy to follow so anyone can do this. I'll also compile it into a downloadable PDF so you can add it to your E-book folders for easy access.

Also, if anyone wants to chime in and expand this plan (because it is quite basic) feel free to. I am a huge fan of compiling ideas from different sources for the benefit of an original idea.

And like you said, go for Joint Ventures! You can be a brand new website and get thousands of visitors in a couple hours if you just network. That's how I run my business anyways.

The only thing I'm not sure about is the time frame. Can you really create ~20 articles, a series of blog posts, a free report, an info product, sales- and thankyou-pages and an autoresponder series in just seven days?

If your dedicated to your online business then yes you can. If your experienced in creating these you can create them faster. If your a total noob you can still pull it off if you work hard. And if you don't pull it off simply keep working on it until you get it done.

      Yes, I can.

The hardest one in the group is the info product. I personally would not complete it in one day, unless it was a short to the point report (which can be excellent).

Since you are working in one niche and on a specific topic, the 20 articles will flow one into another fairly easily. Leveraging your articles, as recommended, will shorten your time for creating your giveaway report dramatically.

The auto-responder series, once again, can be a leveraged effort with your articles. Cutting down the time. Same with your blog posts...

The toughest components will be the actual product and sales page. Just shuffle the schedule to fit your research and writing needs for those two items.

Of course....I did not see anywhere in his post which made any mention of expecting you to complete these tasks in 8 hours days... If you want it, you can do it.

It is a great site, but it's not the only place on the web to find niches.

If everyone starts flocking to the same place I suggest finding a different source where you can find other niches that we marketers haven't found yet

It's an amazing site, and you can glean so many ideas from visiting it - its content is essentially "crowdsourced", so you get many diverse people on there posting about things that interest them. It's truly a gold mine, if you use and apply the information you find within it!

  • Perfect job summing up how a blog can make you money (credibility and a fact to a name).

I've been using this exact system for years and it has allowed me to make over $10,000 per month. Once you get those guest posts approved is when the money really starts to come in.

This post is loaded with good solid resources.

Obviously, the time it takes is going to vary, depending upon available skills, but as some of these things can easily be outsourced, the key is that it is an actionable easy to follow plan that will work for anyone.

      Excellent post Paul.

Brilliant Ideas, Especially on the zeitgeist website.

There are many other ways to make money online but would you say this is the most effective. Getting their email then promoting a product to them.

With this kind of posts in the Warrior forum how come there are people who still fail? Taking action should be taken seriously. It is so easy to plan and stress out yourself in thinking but wondering can never give you money. Again, take ACTION!

That's because so many people think the plan the OP gave is too much work. They've heard that MMO is easy, so they're convinced the "real" information is kept secret.

If they would just do the work and follow the guides, then they'd probably do OK. Instead they quit because it's too much work and then complain about how useless the method is.

Some people will never quit looking for the "magic bullets". Unfortunately those people will probably never succeed at IM either.

This is a thread I'll come back to many times as a reference. The OP laid out a pretty decent guide. Looking forward to finding more like this one.

Andrea, I couldn't agree more. In my opinion, it takes just as much work to stress out and wonder if any of this IM stuff really works, as it is to actually implement it in a focused manner over just a few days - many people just don't realize how much time and effort is wasted in researching and wondering about IM! Wouldn't you rather just put in some real, focused work for a short while, and reap the rewards instead?!

Hi everyone. I'm brand new to this forum and IM in general. Have been lurking for a while picking up all kinds of great knowledge. Saw this post this morning and decided to just go for it. I'm following Paul's advice. In less than an hour I have picked my niche from Zeitgeist. Bought a domain with GoDaddy. Set up an account with HostGator. Also have to say I took advantage of coupon codes for both using offers on this post. I am waiting for my domain name to be transfered to HostGator right now so I took the time to write this post. I'll keep everyone up to date on my adventure. Maybe I will start a blog that the other noobers can follow. I have zero experience with IM. I've never made a single red cent with anything related to the web. thanks Paul. You lit a fire under my arse.

First newbie question. How do I direct my domain name to my Hostgator account? I'm doing something wrong.

Hostgator should have sent you two numbers .... if you go to the site that handles your domain, go into the DNS settings and change the two server #'s over to the one's Hostgator gave you... It shouldn't take long from there.

It's great that ListWire is free, but when you open their emails and click the link inside, you go through this 15-20 second redirect process that put a lot of peopl eoff, including me. I don't want to sit there and wait that long for a page to open.

If you are serious about list building, there are only two companies to consider, Aweber or GetResponse.

This is a good solid start for the beginner and I will probably be referring some folks to it who ask me for such start info. The "7 Day" concept should be taken with a grain of salt, however. No newbie is going to do all that in 1 week-- 7 weeks is more realistic. Still, that's 7 weeks of solid progress toward an online income and everything Paul says works.

Here's a revisionary tip: Swap step 4 and 5. After studying your competitor's sales pages, write one that improves upon them-- then write a ebook/product that satisfies all your sales page's promises. Start with your marketing and work backwards. You'll always satisfy the market that way.
