A question about trends

Hi y'all,

I'm a totally green "newbie" and I was wondering if any of you more experienced marketers can help me. I have a plan drawn up and would like to start slowly with affiliate marketing. My question is this...what is the best way to determine trends in order to try to find the right product to promote? My instinct tells me to start with a product that is not related to making money but rather with something pertaining to health or fitness. Of course...not knowing the first thing about choosing a product...this is all speculation.
