Building Up Your Reputation With Your List? What Do I Email Them With Next?

Hey Warriors,

Im kinda new to list building but have done alot of research on it and so far am approaching 100 people on my list's in just under a week.

Now these were got from viral list building tactics and my wso!

Now so far for both list's i have a few emails in there, ive personalized the confirm email so it's not just the standard one to increase the confirmation rate.

For my wso i give out 3 extra tips so far and a thank you email which lasts 1 week and then an upsell at the end! But then im stuck... that's just 1 week of follow up emails and then after that im reliant on them purchasing another product by me or via me with broadcasts and then getting another week or so of emails regarding the next product and then keep on going.

Similar thing for my viral tactics apart from right now i only have a thank you email, i am working on a 30 day email set (one every 2 days) which will teach them about XXXXX, but then after those 30 day's and with the upsells inside those 30 days they again will only get broadcast emails.

Now maybe that is the point but i also don't want to be at the point where i am simply creating or finding products to promote to them via broadcasts to make some cash! I want them to get value too and remember my name after the follow up's are finished.

Maybe im just being stupid about this as ive actually never really received follow up sequences by other marketers for joining their lists unless it specifically said but the feedback so far has all been positive!

Any help is really appreciated!

Post your email list content, and more great content!

then slide in some affiliate links, without forcing them to by, but as a recommdendation of a new course you recommend!

Yep ive got all of that in there already but really need to know what i need to be doing other than broadcasts after the follow up's are finished.

I think you should promote quality freebies-they really help in building trust with your audience. Besides this, you should only promote products that are worthwhile so that your subscribers realise that you really mean what you write and are not interested in just making a fast buck. If you only promote quality products, your subscribers will value your recommendations.

Ok but then where abouts do i go to get these 'quality freebies'? there is always PLR but most of it is crap unless i re-write it and then again while im at the beginning stages of list building im not going to make that much money intially for the time it takes to re-write them!

Then there is always buying PLR from the forum but still that can get expensive too and i really don't want the extra cost at the point in my list building!

Now the products i promote will only be good products which means there will also only be a few (same product with presell) broadcasts every few months... is that enough or too much?

        Mark, it's simple....

        Just talk to them.

Talk to them about something controversial in Internet Marketing at the moment.

Talk to them about work ethic

Talk to them About good experiences you've had

Talk to them about your family

BOND WITH THEM. If you want them to stay with you anyway.

When something else comes up that is a good fit, or you create something else that is a good fit, let them know about it, THEN TALK TO THEM SOME MORE.

If you're planning on building a long term relationship with this list then consider adding a personal touch. Some emails should be about teaching them something, or giving them a freebie, for sure.

But also consider personal anecdotes about your life. Everyone loves a good story--and it sure beats the predictable pitches found in most emails.

Right now I'm subscribed to 3 lists--and even on days when I'm too swamped to read I hang onto these emails for a later date. I can't bring myself to toss them.

Those 3 marketers are Ben Settle, Seth Godin and Anita Ashland. Ben and Anita in particular, are engaging story tellers (whose stories often have a lesson in them).

If you subscribe to their lists you'll get a good example of what they do.

Heck, I just emailed my list today asking them how things were going and telling them that if they were stuck on anything to give me a holler and we'd work it out. (Then again, I'm really casual with my list and this may not be your particular style with your own list so gauge for yourself if that would work.)
Yeah i could easily write a load of how to emails and include surveys so that i can deliver content specific to their needs. I forgot about surveys!

Yep i am taking a more casual approach than most of the emails i see.

        Sounds good to me Jeremy,

I suppose they are just like your friends, but friends who will glady buy from you and take advice from you (on the whole)!

Although i did receive an email from a marketer the other day with a photo of his foot in it... wasn't too impressed about that one as you can probably imagine.

Great post ! I give you alot of credit for all your work. I agree with offering quality products and affiliate links but my thought is after the followups are done..they should be joining you in business opportunity and running with that opportunity with all the tools you have given them in the emails and broadcasts.

        Much Success

Actually that's a nice idea! You mean to turn them into my affiliates who promote my own products to make both themselves a nice income and also increase mine right?

        Im liking it if so!

Yeah i suppose i just thought that i needed to always give them something or create something and it would be an endless cycle, the reason i joined the IM business was to work less not more.

        That's a very good point!

Generally i keep my personal life out of my business life but then when i do actually leave the desk then there is often a moment where i see something that relates completely to life lessons, marketing and what not.

        Perfect!

        Thanks everyone so far

Try to always teach something from your emails, best thing to do is probably sign up to a few respected internet marketers lists and actually see what they send you...

Most of them i never open because from the title's you can see they are just another product promotion or offer to waste my time reading.

There are only a few people's emails i ever read and the other's i just leave there to rot!

There is your answer right there

The peoples emails that you open - what do they do to make you open them?

Is it the products that they make?

Is it the way they approach you?

Figure out what they do to make you open their emails and take their suggestions and then emulate it

          Damn reverse engineering!

OK now time to go through 1000's of emails and see which one's i opened and why... this might take a while!

Should be worth it in the end.

I run a month or two of one or twice a week emails of just content and then a couple of close together emails supporting some kind of launch and then move back to content again. The content is to build trust and the launch emails are to bring in money.

I have found in the past that I am not a good judge at what my list is looking for. I have done well and done poorly selling products that I expected to do well. I am going to next try selling a $7 type product to my list through Paypal and see how that goes.

Try putting a general survey together to find out their income, goals, expericence, what they want to learn about etc... and make sure to leave a comment section

Then you will know exactly what they want and will be able to provide it, right from the source too.
