For New Members: The Right Way and the Wrong Way to Get Your Post Count Up

IF YOU ARE NEW HERE:

I have been visiting several threads and have been noticing a trend that I wanted to address.

(If you've been around awhile, forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I think it bears repeating.)

I see a lot of newcomers posting things like: "I agree with John" or "Thanks for that" or my personal favorite: after joining a very busy thread full of feedback and reviews, to post "anybody have any reviews of this?"

My suggestions to you are this: for the first day or two, mostly just read, look around, find out what is being discussed where, learn to navigate the forum, read the rules.

Start with these:

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ing-forum.html

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...oderators.html

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...um-videos.html

Once you have a general feel for the place, start posting.

I know the urge to ask, ask, ask is great when you start out and that is fine, if you can ask semi-informed questions. By that I don't mean you have to be afraid to ask beginner questions, just that you first need to do a search and see if it has been asked and answered before.

It looks much better to say, "I read this in the forum, my question about what I read is this," instead of something like "How do I get traffic?" And whatever you do, don't make your first post "How do I Make Money?"

The other thing you really, really want to do is to offer something back. There are things you know. Everybody knows things. Share those things.

If you can answer a question, answer it.

If you know where to find a resource, tell us (just beware of the rule about affiliate links.)

And if you want to say "Thanks" or "I agree with John," elaborate.

Say "Thanks for that information. This is how I plan to use it."

Say "I agree with John about that because this is my experience with that subject."

In both of those examples, you are SHARING INFORMATION.

I believe that if you try to follow posting methods similar to what I've outlined, you will find a warmer reception here, and will also learn more.

Good Luck to You All,
and Post Responsibly!
