Keyword Research - Surefire Way for Beginners

I've been lurking around in the Warrior Forum and I haven't really contributed yet. I think it's time to become an active member and to add some value. Now it looks like a bunch of people "Newbie's" are still having trouble making their first $1.

About a year ago I was just like lots of people on here. I had not made much money, I did the work, I wrote articles, made niche sites, did a bunch of backlinks etc. etc. and still very little money was coming in.

Then I figured out why I wasn't making any money it's wasn't because my content didn't read well or my sites looked crappy or that I didn't do any promotions etc. etc. No one was buying because no one was interested? Why because of the keywords I used to create my content "Browsing Keywords" or "Tire Kickers".

What I needed was buying keywords and I'm not just talking about putting the word "buy in front of your chosen keyword like "Buy Dell Computers" or "Buy Cheap Bedspreads" I'm talking about drilling down and finding keywords that people are ready to take action in some way like "Buy Dell Inspiron Mini Notebook 2232SDJEK" I just made that up for illustration purposes, I know I'm silly but you get the point.

Now doing that is still no guarantee that someone will buy, you still have a lot of things you need to look at like competition, how many searches per month, building your content correctly, build a blog or not to build a blog, submitting to Ezinearticles, promotions, etc. etc.

You could be the best content writer, blog builder and promoter of all times but if you get the keyword wrong? You're just plain out of luck.

Anyway all this was boring to me so I begin to do some research and this is what I came up with and trust me it works for me and if you're having trouble finding buyer keywords just give it a try and see what you think.

Step 1 - Keyword Ideas
No matter what your niche is the best place to find the hottest keywords is Google. Whenever you start to type in a word it will start suggesting keywords for you. Just start by typing in your chosen niche and see what words come up. Write them down so you can start drilling down from their.

Once you have a few words put a keyword modifier in front of it words like - buy, review, discount, free shipping, sale, stop, best, top, quickly, cheap, these are keyword modifiers and these types of words in front of your keywords could totally change the game. I think you get the point, so just keep drilling down and write down those keywords that Google gives you.

Step 2 - Keyword Research
Now that you have your keyword ideas its time to do some research and this is always fun for me. Head on over to Keyword Discovery and put in each keyword individually.

I have found anything over 10 gets a good search count so if the word showing is 10 or above save it and move on to the next step. If not put the next keyword in until you have about 20 keywords above 10.

Step 3 - Keyword Difficulty
Next I head over to check if the word will be difficult or not to rank for in the search engines. I have found anything under 40 will have a good chance of ranking well. If the keyword difficulty is under 40 save the keyword and move to the next step.

Step 4 - Commercial Value
Next I check to see if the keyword has commercial value and if the numbers look good I will save that keyword and move to the next step. This tool is important because it will let you know if your keyword is a buyer keyword or not so don't miss this step whatever you do!!

Step 5 - Related Keywords
Now you're going to need keywords for Tags and LSI purposes when writing and submitting your content and the best place I have found to get these related keywords quick and easy is by using Google's Wonder Wheel. Just write down some of the related keywords. I normally jot down 5 or 10 and save your information and move on to the next step. Now here comes the really fun part, so let the games begin!!! Let go to step 6.

Step 6 - Content Ideas The final step and also on of the most important of the 6 part process is writing and submitting content with the buyer keywords you have just found. I normally work in groups of 5 buyer keywords for each niche, for some reason 5 really seems to work well.

It's up to you what you want to do with your keywords but here are just a few ideas and they all work well.

1. You can or find a writer to write content for you using your buyer keywords.

2. Build a free blog like blogger.com and put adsense on it.

3. Build Web2.0 sites - Squidoo is a good one, if using my method above about groups of five keywords to a niche, this would be perfect for Squidoo. All you have to do is create an account and then build 5 lenses and link them together. You would be amazed at the results. Anyway this is not about Squidoo it's about finding buyer keywords

4. Make PLR articles and sale them in a WSO - Find a hot topic get your keywords write some articles and sell them for $5.00 in groups of 5. Are you starting to see my trend here on the number 5?

5. You can place a small ad and start selling your keywords in groups of 5, 10 or 15 for a hot niche.

You get the point? It's endless what you can do from here but I always start with a good buyer's keyword and then write some good content or have it written before thinking about doing anything else. You can even purchase domains for the exact keyword phrase and build your own site "Wordpress"

All of the above ideas will come in time and trust me there are a ton of ebooks on each of the topics I listed above and even lots of good free information right on this forum, just do a search.

Final Thoughts

Like I said it's endless what you can do, but the whole point is to do something and for me that started with keyword research. Now is this system perfect? No but does it work? YES there are some paid tools that will do all this and more but if you're starting out and the money is tight or you just want to have a backup system for a quick and easy way then here you go.

You will find that some keywords will take off like a rocket and others will just flop. And of course if you want you can always check your keywords on Google's Keyword Tool to verify monthly searches, PPC cost or check the keyword in Google "quotes" etc. etc.

You see how you can keep it going and going and going just like the Energizer Bunny. I wanted a system so easy a cave man could do it So don't get stuck with all the numbers just follow the 6 steps above and you will do just fine.

Anyway I tested this system out on my sister before I wrote this and she found some buyer keywords and is starting to write some articles and building simple Blogger blogs for some adsense cash and I am happy to report that she made her first $1 shortly after finding a few keywords and writing some content.

I remember she called me just screaming "Frankie" "Frankie" I did it I just made $1.00. I think I was happier then she was because I knew she did it own her own with just the scraps of paper and emails I gave her to follow the 6 step outlined above.

Anyway guys if my sister can do it with scraps of paper I hope you can do it with the outline above. If only one person gets something out of this it will have been well worth my efforts and I would do it again and again, because there is nothing like making your first $1 using the net.

My final thoughts I promise Go out and find some buyer keywords using the 6 steps above and start writing and adding content with your affiliate link mixed in into as many free sites as you can. Do some simple linking strategies, there is a ton of good free content right here on this forum that will explain many of the techniques I listed above.
