Looking for PR suggestions: PRWeb.com (also good alternatives)

Hi Warriors,

I am looking for feedback of PRWeb.com. Has anyone tried upon their services? They appear to have 4 services, any idea on which one works the best (the "SEO level PR" which is of $200 as of today seems to be good to me)?

If not, what are good alternatives?

$19 seems like a good deal, but in working with more than 37 marketing companies over the past 3 years, I can throw out one common thread...PRWeb. Their backend statistical reporting is second to none...their reputation in the industry is stellar, and considering that marketing companies HAVE to get results, or they go bye-bye, if they are trusting PRWeb, then I am too. I send all my clients there, unless they need 100% free press release submission.

Having said that, it is certainly worth $19 to do a test run of Webwire as well. The difference between getting some SEO, web traffic versus getting actual PRESS is significant and you must factor that in when you are doing your marketing campaign. For instance, an innovation in your business coupled with a story in the New York Times or Wall Street Journal, well, that is big time and the impact that could have would trump even significant seo ranking as far as impact to your business (in most cases)

I really would like to meet somebody who actually got an article published due to a silly online press release...

Let's just get real for a minute. If you are looking to get in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, just using PRWeb (or Webwire) are NOT going to cut it for 99.999% of the people here. If you want that kind of coverage, it's going to take either:

      1. SIGNIFICANT News. You cured cancer or merged with the WSJ or somesuch.

      2. You have a PR Agency on retainer. Minimum of $15 k per month to leverage their connections and access to certain PR tools like Profnet.

      3. Become a world-class, recognized expert in your field (with a public record of speaking engagements, books, papers etc) and listed in resources such as Profnet

      4. Or all of the above.

Don't think for a minute that you can buy an expensive PRWeb package and have a shot in hell of getting into mainstream media just by hitting the submit button. However, you can pretty easily get into LOCAL media (but you don't have to pay big bucks for that).

For 99% of you, given what you are trying to do (get backlinks, get picked up in Google News, etc), Webwire is perfect (and you can combine it with other tools too like PRbot). Please don't waste your money unless you know what you are doing in PR. PRWeb and the like will be happy to take your money, but I personally don't believe the value is there for most of you. There are always exceptions (see above)...

Feel free to PM for any advice.

It's not needed Nic. You can just buy your way in. I've seen offerings to buy you're way in to the NYT plus 2 other major papers for $4.5k.

No one needs to PM me about that because I cannot recall where I saw that

Leave it to the guy from Long Island to bring this up.

I have no doubt that there are indeed off-book ways around the usual rules... as there are with all things. I wouldn't feel too good about buying my way into the editorial though. But, hey, options are options.

I was going to go with the 80 but glad I came here and found webwire, I'm going to try that out. If anyone knows what benefits or perks come with pr web that i wouldn't get at webwire please leave a comment with more information on it.
I did webwire and it was okay. We didn't show in nearly as many places as we did when I did PRWEB. AND $19 is webwire's basic package. Want more control and perks, there are higher costs.

PRWeb is great for traffic. The more premium release options
allow you to have your website in an Iframe in the press release
itself, which gets you real traffic with no link clicking required,
so you can have visitors to your release forced to watch your
blathering head on video for example, or your creepy blathering
    SitePal false-self

Real newsworthiness takes some effort to build into a press
release. PRWeb releases tend to rank well in search engines
and the backlinks are good too.

You won't get picked up by real news media if you're just
    tooting your horn though.

This thread is great as well as the information provided. I am looking forward of trying webwire as PRWeb is quite expensive in my part. Any other comments about their PR distribution service?

I signed up for PRWeb (we were looking for free Press release sites) and didn't realize there was a decent cost for it. I haven't paid for anything yet, so I don't have a great review for them. However, there has been a woman from PRWeb emailing me trying to set up a time to talk. I finally told her we didn't really have it in our budget this year (we do but it's not something we want to focus on) and she replied "Our services start from $89-$369. You don't have that in your budget?"
I am still in shock that she said that. It seems pretty rude and unprofessional if I do say so myself. Even if I was going to pay to use them before... now I'm not.

    Hope this was somewhat helpful!

I have used all the online press release distribution services and found PRweb to be by far the most reliable and beneficial. It has given us more exposure and better link distribution than any other service.

I don't know if it is ok to post links, but below I have a discount for you guys to test the service if anyone would like it.

PRWeb costs more but has a higher profile and you're almost certain to get more out of it. A friend of mine is a high flying marketing type and she swears by it.

    Hi everyone,

There was a value in using prweb for everyone before as it gives you dofollow link. But from few months, it has turned all the link to nofollow, So there is not a real value for SEO.

For small to medium businesses, there is no value if your press release is not including something really news worthy. And big companies can get media attention for free from their local news websites anyway.

    Cheers,
    Toby
