Is anyone here familiar with Godaddy "deluxe hosting?"

Hey all,

Is anyone here really familiar with godaddy's "deluxe hosting," and could possibly help me out?

I have tried godaddy's support like 5 times now, and they all give me the SAME copy paste "solution" which doesnt answer anything i'm asking. For a company that big, they need to get their **** together.

I got it because it said I could host multiple sites, which I have sort of done.
I have the hosting account set up for site1.com, and then i have a wordpress blog installed in a subfolder on the ftp. So its installed in site1.com/site2.

I then assigned the domain to this folder, and it works out and everything, so i can go to site2.net and get to the wordpress blog from that url.

BUT

When I click on any other pages in that blog, like the about page for example. it brings up

site1.com/site2/?page_id=17
instead of
site2.net/?page_id=17

or if i click the homepage link on the blog it brings me back to

site1.com/site2/
instead of
site2.net

if anyone can please shed some light on this issue i would greatly appreciate it.

    Sorry I'm not familiar, but I believe I know the solution anyway:

    Go with HostGator. There are quite a few others here that will suggest the same to you. GoDaddy isn't even reliable enough for GoDaddy. And if you want a new registrar for your domains, I highly suggest NameCheap.

    Good luck with getting your stuff setup. Hope you manage to get better tech support. It's a shame when you get the "text-book-techs" that give cookie cutter responses. They can hear, but they can't listen.

      yea, as soon as this hosting runs out i'm done with them, too bad i'm stuck with it for another year :/

        No, you're not stuck with them for another year.

        Move your sites to another host now. Chalk up the years fees to experience and IM tuition fees.

        The pain of the loss will quickly fade as you experience the benefits of a proper host like hostgator.
        Get a reseller account, and have separate control panels, logins for each domain.
        Only about $25 per month.
        Or pay $10 per month and juggle different domains on the same account.

    One word, Cpanel.

    Godaddy does not use cpanel and I am slowly moving my hosting to other providers.

    Sam, that is weird. I have hosting at Goddaddy and at two other hosting companies. Godaddy's system is quite confusing compared to the other two Hosts.

    I do have multiple sites in a single Godaddy hosting account and it does not do what yours is doing, they work find, but then mine are straight HTML sites and not Wordpress.

    I wonder if it's a Wordpress at Godaddy issue.

      hmm, how do you have the sites set up structure wise? Do you have the hosting account assigned to one domain and all the others as subfolders? I wish they made this easier, every time i try and look for a solution on their page they want me to buy something.

    You are doing it all bassakwards (I love that word )
    If you are installing Wordpress on Site1, then it has nothing to do with Site2.

    Add the domain name to your Godaddy hosting account, if it isn't already added. (Not as a subfolder or attached to any other domain).

    When you log into godaddy hosting you will see a list of all hosted domains names. Find your site2 domain name and click Manage Account.

    From there, click on "manage applications" and install Wordpress. There default will install the WP into a subfolder at site2.com/wordpress, so change that tobe blank if you want it on the root of the domain name (Site2.com).

    Wait patiently for minutes/hours/days until Godaddy decides to install Wordpress. (No waiting with other hosts).

    From there you can upload themes/files/whatever directly to that domain name via the Godaddy control panel / file manager or by using FTP to that domain name, not any other domain name.

    You are all set.

      haha I actually came across that site in my search for a solution.

      A week of asking the company how to fix this and i get nothing, 2 hours on the WF and its fixed. you guys are amazing, thanks for all the feedback!
