Commission Junction Question

Hi guys, first off I wanna say I love this forum, you guys really give our great advice. I'm a newbie and just got accepted to commission junctions, to test them I had a buddy of mine purchase web hosting through one of my affiliate links. However when I log into my CJ account the sale is not recorded.
Is there a certain time for a sale to register?
I'm starting to think CJ just stiffed me? Any help or advice on CJ would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Well that doesn't sound good. Can you see the click on the stats? Maybe it takes a while for the company to tell CJ there was a sale.

I'm not a big fan of CJ - I had some money sitting in there - not a lot mind - but because I hadn't made a sale in a while they closed my account and took the money with it!

  • Yes there can be a delay in reporting. Typically you'll see the results in a couple of hours... generally no later than the next day.

And it's pretty easy for CJ cookies to get "dropped". In fact about 1/3 of the Major Affiliate Network Cookies will be dropped.

If you know the sale and it complies with the terms of the program you can always write the affiliate manager direct.

A lot of hosting companies pay big commissions so they will let them sit in a que for awhile before they approve them. And if your friend bought the $7.95 one month special you may not get paid as some programs only pay out on yearly purchases.

These guys get gamed a lot and they are not stupid.

So there are a lot of questions that need to be answered before you jump to conclusions.

I've been with CJ for more than 10 years now and I have always been paid. And their customer service is very slow... but if you write them they will eventually respond.

Thanks to all your responses, I got to the bottom of it by emailing the affiliate manager. Although the click registered the sale never did, I provided them with the details of the sale and once confirmed they added the commission manually.

I'm a bit skeptical about promoting the hosting products though because although I new this sale happened, I don't even want to think about the amount that goes past the radar.

I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else!

As soon as you notice any kind of problem, the best thing to do right away is to send them an email. There is a place where you can login and ask them a question through email. They will get back to you with answers.
