Returning Visitors

Hi.

I am wondering for what reasons people would want to return to a site i.e. build up a fan base.
I suppose for example if I had a website on 'makeup tips' people may want to come back for further advice and tips. Is there any other reasons why someone might want to come back?

    There are hundreds - depending on the site and what's on offer.

    People will happily return to get the latest information/news from a site where they respect the information / provider.

    They may also come back if there's constantly something new for them (software, tools, information etc.....) or if they're buying something consumable and need to come back to get more.

    Look at Amazon - Ebay etc... most of their customers are returning customers.

    Like Andy said people like myself will always comeback to:
    Dynamic Drive for scripts or
    Cool Text for a quick free logo.
    and of course giveaway of the day (software).
    You just need to offer something of value and free doesn't hurt.
