Off The Wall Marketing Ideas
I'll go first...
Let's say you want to market off-line and are looking for major accounts, but don't want to completly "cold call"...You may want to try this:
Go to www.CafePress.com and set up an account. Find some relevent art at www.Morguefile.com (good usage terms).
The goal is to make a few coffee mugs that are interesting AND also include your name and/or bussiness URL on the mugs.
Do some investigative work and try to find out the name(s) of the people you may be contacting in the future. Send them the coffee mugs as a gift. Personalize the mugs with their first names, if you can.
You must make sure these are good coffee mugs and not the small ones, you want them to be used. If the mugs are used, you will be "branding" yourself over and over and over.
After sending the gift mugs, follow up 4-6 weeks later, trying to set an appointment...At this point in time, these folks should "know" you from seeing your name on their coffee cups over and over. You are no longer an "unknown" to them.
This could be expensive...But if you have a good prospect in mind, and the account is worth 4 figures +, this may well be the edge you need to at least get an appointment.
Anyone else have an off the wall marketing idea?
