I found this great article today called "50 tools to speed up your PC" and it had a printer friendly version which made it a great read and resource so I am posting a link to it.

CCleaner has been the first tool I install on every computer I get.

I also train all my family members who I provide computer support for from time to time how to use it to disable startup junk ;-)

          Start up Ccleaner>Tools>Startup

As of recent, you can disable or fully delete start up entries. Programs like Java VM and adobe sneak in update checkers that can be disabled. Using only the necessary will speed up your windows loggin-in procedure by the boatloads. Also a helluva lot simpler than going through the built-in MSCONFIG utility. Truly an amazing program.

            Hey Josh,

            That list looks awesome....thanks...

I also use CCleaner on all our PC's....it's absolutely brilliant....

Now if I can just figure out:
            * why Firefox crashes so often
            * why adobe shuts down so often

            Regards

            Greg

    Tool #51: Ubuntu

Download and burn the live cd (no install) to try it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Excellent list if only for CCleaner, AutoRuns, and Ad-Aware. I am also liking the Easy Duplicate Finder.
