An autoresponder series that really teaches? Does it exsist??

Hi all,

I am pretty sure by now that 99.98% of everyone here has signed up for someones autoresponder series to teach something or at least get something. It pretty much goes with the terrain when your starting out. Here is my question. Has anyone ever found one that really taught something? We know that mass majority are canned ham. hmmm wonder if that is where spam really comes from?

Anyway, years ago I was one of John R's list. I really don't remember if I learned anything. The only thing I remember walking away with was the name of an eBay ebook writer(its a good book )

Here is my point. We know the best way to a buyers heart is to give good content. Yet, other than a name of one person, I can't remember any series I was on that gave information that was "that valuable". I know you can't give the farm away but we have the power to change the world and be profitable doing it.

I really feel bad for some newbies. There are some marketers that have series that can easily run for years. The content is well written high polish costly spam. There is not an ounce of meat..well its flavored with meat so you come back. LOL The community is littered with guru's who sell shovels that they don't use or are not sure will work!

So the question is....have you ever been on a autoresponder series that taught you something that you are using today? If so, who was the marketer?

    If the issue is simply learning, then I'd probably say that every single 'autoresponder' list I've been on has taught me something - if only what NOT to do. But I tend to choose carefully so there aren't many of those.

      Here is more direct question Peter. Have you ever learned something that you were able to use and begin earning immediately? Something that literally was mapped out and you tried it and bam, you made a few dollars?

        I was making the assumption when I first replied that you were talking about the free series of emails that one gets after signing up to somebody's list. If that's the case then it's not often that you'll get a cookie-cutter, do-this-now-do-that answer to how to make money online, not in my experience anyway.

        What you do get, if you're picky about who's list you sign up to, is great information that you can apply to your own business model.

        Take Paul Myers' TalkBiz newsletter. You HAVE to be on this and the autoresponder series of emails that follows is awesome. Do yourself a favour, find a link to his list (that's your homework, just to test your commitment!) read his emails and act on them. Unless you're blind to good information then you can't fail to monetise the information that Paul puts out.

        He'll also put you straight on your idea of what constitutes spam - you seem to be under some illusion that crap content is spam. That's not right. Spam is unsolicited contact. If you signed up to a list to receive information, you can't call it spam.

          Peter thanks for responding. The spam comment was a joke. I guess it missed your funny bone. I do not have any illiusions about crap content. It was simple word play. I am clear on the whole concept and business model of autoresponders. I was simply pointing out that as an industry we need to be have the means justify the ends. Relax. My question about if you earned from any was sincere. This thread was aimed at helping "others" out.

              Kevin Riley's e-mails are always worth opening. Not just because of the content, but because they usually make me smile too. I seem to get more work done if I'm feeling cheery (I won't forget the first time I encountered Kevin - worn down by a nagging client with a $7 script problem, I went off in search of further info and found myself confronted by an image of a manic-looking KR waving a giant spanner. I laughed out loud, the day got brighter and Problem Client was quickly sorted. Neat).

              I quite like Scott Standke and Travis Sago too, but I'm very guilty of subscribing to newsletters only to ignore a lot of them when they arrive. There just aren't enough hours in the day. I've probably been sent some great stuff that I've never seen.

    When we use this autoresponder approach to teach something, we don't just send out an email with text. Each email provides a link to a new webpage that has full multimedia. If we send out five emails across five days, we'll have five separate webpages. The webpages are where we do the teaching. - Russ

    I think Travis Sago's bummarketingmethod ecourse is really good with step by step instructions. It's definitely responsible for the money I'm making today and it didn't cost a dime and it wasn't too long either.

    Also, there was an email SEO course that I'd subscribed to that was really good and helped me with my on-page stuff. I think it was by Brad Callen.
