look at my new website

I personally really like the look, feel, and organization of the site. It is nice and bright and looks inviting and exciting. I might have to bookmark it so I can play some games sometime lol...

I think there are people who would want a website of that caliber.

As far as what to charge? That's a difficult one since in the past I have done some web design work and find that when you offer a website for a specific price it becomes an 'all you can eat buffet' by the customer. They don't necessariliy mean for it to happen that way, but they see how it looks and their brain keeps on thinking up bigger better ideas for their website.

A couple suggestions would be to offer a standardized template for a set amount of money if possible, and create a questionaire for them to fill out that details anything you can conceivably think of that they may want added for free after your initial design is finished. It is a common service to offer a free second revision to clean up changes that may have been mis-communicated during the discussion / meeting phase before the design. Sometimes when you show them the changes you made for the free second revision they want to make more changes for a free 3rd revision, and then a 4th, then a 5th... As crazy as it sounds they don't always realize it and feel like you are ripping them off if you don't keep performing the free revisions and sometimes honestly think they had all of these changes in their mind right from the beginning when sometimes thats not the case.

So why am I telling you all of this? Because I want to stress that you should document the customers requests as well as possible right from the start and provide them with a copy so there are no suprises when you explain to them that you will need to charge for modifications made beyond the agreement. Plus this will help you create a quote that is more realistic based on what the customer is asking for.

My personal suggestion? Charge by the hour and provide an estimate (not an exact quote) right from the start so you are getting your compensation, and also to smolder down some of the lavish add on requests that the client may make that they wouldn't otherwise want to pay for if it was coming out of their bank account.

Your stuff looks great, and I'm not trying to paint a frightening picture on web design, just trying to let you know about a couple pot-holes in the road to make sure you see them before you hit them.
