Stomper Mobile - Has anyone seen this!

OK.. I can say I am a little frustrated right now. Stomper is doing a Text Message Marketing Launch! So considering I am working on one for our company that is frustrating.. BUT, It sure does give a boost to the market! But I have one up on them! We have a short code (Like Stomper) but also have long codes... Which are much cheaper and more flexible...

So lets talk about Mobile...

If you would like to test it for your self you can text DEMO to 978-242-5800.

I am also going to do a conference call where I will be answering questions about Text Message Marketing... Just text your question to 978-242-5800 and you will get all the call information texted back to you automatically!

hahah ya everyone is on the bandwagon Cynthia, Gauher was the first, now the rest are starting to follow.

Funny thing is I thought Howie was retiring in 2010, guess that was just hype to sell his stuff.

Hopefully no one buys the Stomper course, as im sure it will be a total waste of money, like the rest of their rehashed garbage.

Hey Chris, nice to see a fellow mobi out there, so your company deals mainly in SMS?

Yeah, I've seen this. The course has been created by Dan Hollings who has come out with some great Twitter stuff in the past. If it's anywhere as close as that it will be some good stuff. Not sure on price but when they sent me the affiliate mail it mentions that it will be a 'premium' product.

I was speaking to a marketer in the UK a few months ago about the same stuff, but not from IM gurus, just someone else who was starting it and we had a good chat about the possibilities.

The feeling I got was that it's still too early for this for most IMers.

Most people won't fully understand the potential and while it's easy to say people should get on board early, most non-IM businesses and people won't have a clue how this can be used and unless you're hooked into companies that are testing the technology, the rest of the infrastructure that will end up making this so great won't be there.

For me it's almost irrelevant what anyone comes out with in the IM world right now for this, because it'll largely just be people trying to make it sound like it's already further down the road than it is and trying to get gullible people who think they're missing out on something to buy into it.

It sounds great and maybe in the US things are different (they weren't last time I checked) but this technology is not ready for newbies to buy into yet as the applications are not there, just the initial technology.

I'm sure it'll sound good and be interesting to read how people hype it up though.

They got to sell something... mobile will be hot ... but it is in the early stages and only for certain limited markets.

By the time it opens up... you'll need an update course. $2,000/ $1997 seems to be the going rate

What is everyone paying $2000 for? What is it about mobile marketing that you are really willing to pay two grand to learn? Has anyone really learned the "secret" to mobile marketing in one of these over-priced courses??

It's total nonsense. You're paying them $2,000 so they can take your money to "their" bank after they pay an affiliate half of it.

        Hi,

There is absolutely no doubt that many people will make a lot of money out of mobile marketing in the years to come. In my opinion, the vast majority of those people won't be those who post here, and won't be those who buy these products from IM gurus.

I predict that it will also become one of the most hated methods of marketing in the consumers' mind, not least because it intrudes into areas where they have become accustomed to NOT receiving marketing intrusions and secondly because many youngsters who are naive to marketing and money matters will get burnt - and in many cases their parents will get hit with the bills (so expect unscrupulous marketers to target this area) - therefore also expect to see regular backlashes and the inevitable clampdowns, fines and regulations over time.

Andy is right that most people here are not ready for this.

But regardless - the trend is for gurus to hype up anything that is shiny and new in order to capitalise on the newer marketers who believe that their opportunity lies in jumping on something 'new'.

If you're one of the many here who are not in a position to realistically capitalise on these type of trends, and you're smart, you'll take note of which trends certain gurus are jumping all over and hyping up as 'the next big thing' and you'll funnel your time and resources into sensible, tried and tested and easily accessible methods to turn a profit.

The hype is precisely the signal you need, to know exactly what to avoid, for now. Successful small-business people know the difference between opportunity and sheep-bait laid by wolves.

They also know that if they DID want to capitalise on this emerging advertising medium, there are places where you SHOULD be looking for resources, and there are other places where you most definitely shouldn't be looking. HTH.

I don't really agree with this. Mobile marketing is not just a trend. American fortune 100 companies are spending 5% to 10% of their advertising budget just to get started. Japan has been doing things with their mobile phones since the year 2000 that we in America can only imagine. Imagine going to McDonalds & paying for your food by swiping your cell phone at the registar. Or getting on a plane or train by swiping your cell phone. These things are already going on in Japan and have been for some time.
This is more than a trend. We have been building up to such a time as this.
Look at the donations for Haiti relief effort that happened a few months ago using mobile technology. some time ago people did not want to give their credit card numbers over the internet. Now ecommerce is commonplace & the life bood of most IM'ers. Next frontier Mcommerce!

          Roger,

I'm curious, what are you basing this on?

I predict that it will also become one of the most hated methods of marketing in the consumers' mind, not least because it intrudes into areas where they have become accustomed to NOT receiving marketing intrusions and secondly because many youngsters who are naive to marketing and money matters will get burnt - and in many cases their parents will get hit with the bills (so expect unscrupulous marketers to target this area) - therefore also expect to see regular backlashes and the inevitable clampdowns, fines and regulations over time.
That's possible, but I think the opposite is also equally possible where people eventually get used to receiving text messages. Remember when the internet first came to be? There were no banner ads, no pop-ups, no sponsored links, etc. and they annoyed the heck out of a lot of people (and still do), but they work. Today people are used to seeing advertising virtually everywhere they go online. So I'm going to disagree with you on this one.

Andy is right that most people here are not ready for this.
Isn't this true of most "new" marketing channels of distribution?

But regardless - the trend is for gurus to hype up anything that is shiny and new in order to capitalise on the newer marketers who believe that their opportunity lies in jumping on something 'new'.

If you're one of the many here who are not in a position to realistically capitalise on these type of trends, and you're smart, you'll take note of which trends certain gurus are jumping all over and hyping up as 'the next big thing' and you'll funnel your time and resources into sensible, tried and tested and easily accessible methods to turn a profit.
          Good, sensible advice.

HTH.
A lot of people can save a lot of grief by simply doing their own market research. Also there are people in here that are early adopters while others are not. Some people prefer to wait and see how certain trends unfold. I tend to not be an early adopter of things for this very reason. Though every now and then I'll jump right into something.

I see this as just another way to reach potential prospects and customers. And like most marketing channels, it's sure to have it's own nuances to it. We already use text messages to send out reminders to people who have asked for them and the early results are very encouraging.

    Wow thats pretty cool.

I wonder if this is something just like the text message subscription model, where you pay a lot fo money for each text.

I know of a lot of companies that used this model and were ramping up customers phone bills this way. But using it for marketing purposes looks very promising, I just think it can become very costly.

    Hey Everyone:

I'm sorry that it took me so long to write this. I have been VERY busy since doing Stomper Mobile. After doing the session last week and looking around at the content I can honestly say that is a good and solid program. I have been in mobile for a very very very long time, and for Dan to have only been in mobile for a couple of years but have such a great package only speaks to his ability to do the following:

    research
    strategize
    and implement

winning, executable tactics for any professional arena. I'm still not sold on the $2000 price tag that Stomper charges, but you will learn a lot from him and if you actually DO half of the things that you learn from him you will make the money back.

The only thing that I think is missing is a set of take home tactics that you can use to start making money. We all know that people like blueprints and step by instructions. That would definitely help.

Mobile marketing is definitely WIDE open. It will never really get saturated due to the sheer amount of people having access to the web via mobile or even simply the MESSAGING factor.
