I use single-opt-in in my sales process. The customer logs into my site, choose to order, is asked for email (opts in) and then goes to the order page.

I've not yet spoken to aweber, but earlier tonight I noticed that they are no longer letting me use single opt in.

I NEED single opt in.

Where can I go to get single opt in? I realize if I go to a more leniant company, they will - most likely - not have as great of a reputation with email companies as Aweber.

But are there any places that are less picky as aweber, and who will not police my complaint rates?

Frankly I don't know of any, Most of the reliable services have double opt in.

I think what you can do is install a script on your own server. I don't know of any scripts

so I'm sorry I can't help you there either but if you google it you will find some.

    Oilman,

It goes without saying that reputable autoresponder companies require double optin for several reasons. The main reason of course is to keep Spam complaints down and keep delivery rates high by keeping themselves off of blacklists.

In your case, where you are wanting to capture your customers name and email address via a single optin form, you would be in compliance with Spam laws. You are allowed to email(solicit) to your customer base.

I would recommend that you capture their info after they order i.e. set up your payment processor to redirect to a 'Register Your Product' page or something similar to that. This page of course would have the autoresponder form on it. Then use the autoresponder to redirect them to the download page.

Since you do use double optin for your 'Prospects' and only want to use a single optin autoresponder for actual 'Customers', I can get you set up.

Shoot me a PM for details,
    Later,
    Walt

I have a new account with Aweber and have all my lists set to single optin. Have you had a lot of complaints?

They say if you have one of them double optin... it would make all of them the same. After you went with double optin you cannot switch back to single optin.

    ImnicaMail allows single optin.

Send Richelo Killian a PM, he'll be able to tell you exactly what IMNicaMail can do for you. I remember him mentioning single opt-in in one of his previous posts.

Are you planning to move your existing list, or just start using a new service for your new sign-ups?

Lots of cheap scripts available. Consider the downsides. Deliverability issues, getting your server listed in spamhaus, booted from your isp, etc. Email lists are not the item to save a few pennies on.

    Another vote for Imnica.
Plus it has a slick interface that owns Aweber...new version coming out soon too!

    Hey guys
    Thanks for the help.
I actually was just confused with Aweber and everything is fine. Since I've tested my offers a few times, I've manually gone thru the order process, using my own email accounts.

Aweber has a thing where it asks for double opt ins from people who opt in a lot and stuff. And I had opted in with my won addresses a few times, triggering aweber to make those accounts double opt in.

Kind of hard to explain, but it was just me doing it manually that triggered their thing to have a double opt in.

My process involves single opt in because I capture email addresses directly before ordering, and then I have aweber email them saying "where did you go" if they do not buy. if they do buy, my automation rules take them from the single opt in list to the buyers list.
