OPM = Other Peoples Money

This is an old methodology analogous to the Internet. In internet terms the way you use other people money is to set up shop on their property! And I'm not talking spam I'm talking sites that the owners want you to participate on. The key to leveraging this methodology is to get yourself an authoritative position on that property. This benefits the owner and yourself.

Spamming Craigslist with a CPA is not leveraging. It's spam. Posting a CPA offer on Squidoo or HubPages is leveraging (After you build authority on the site). Without Authority on the site you come across as just another wannabe. With authority people respect what you have to say and you start making money. Seeding a relevant comment on Amazon with your brand is leveraging. Writing a guest post on a popular blog is leveraging.

The bottom line is you do not have to own your own property to get your message in front of your prospective buyers.

I have a specific group of properties I work with that cost me nothing... and yes I do have to sometimes share some of the profits, but so what. I save an incredible amount of time not having to buy hosting, design the site, or develop a marketing plan to gain the traffic I need to make money.

One article I posted a short while ago had already generated 30 visitors by noon today. I read all the time about people working and working and never getting much traffic so they have no way to make money. If I can post 3 articles in less than an hour that I know will bring me 100 targeted visitors per day in less than a week why bother developing my own property for such a tight vertical niche?

Lets say you are wanting to sell an automotive part you invented. You could make a website, hire an seo firm, and set up a shopping cart. Then do your own marketing. Or you could cut a deal with a huge auto supply distributor and leverage their network of retail outlets. Either way would work, but what method will get you the exposure you want with the least investment?

Let me give you an example for the NET.

Today I wrote an article for HubPages. It took 45 minutes. I actually wrote 3 different articles for the same keyword phrase. It was pretty easy.

And in less than an hour all 3 articles are now indexed. Each article contains and affiliate link for a product that pays over 10% commission. I plan on investing zero SEO time. Why? Because I know I can leverage the existing traffic on my account plus the PR of the Host Site.

This is a product I would NEVER build a site around because it is so specific. But that's the beauty of leveraging someone else's property. I can sell products that are so "niche" that on their own would not be worth the time and effort invested into developing my own property.

So if you want to expand your affiliate marketing efforts instead of thinking the build it, promote it... why not find a community property and leveraging their traffic a real try?

And here is a tip: Don't just stop at one account. You can set up multiple accounts under different pen names and build authority and brand for an entire industry... then you can plug multiple verticals.

TIME IS MONEY!
