No "Wanted" Section on the WF ?

Guys/Gals.

Do we have a section on the WF where I can place an description of work I want done ?

We have sections where Warriors can sell their services.

But nowhere where you can "post a job".

Or am I going blind?

Seems like it would be pretty handy and help some Warriors out.

I've a few jobs ongoing, could go to odesk etc but would rather give it out to a Warrior if one's available.

I was looking for one too - I thought I found it then it turned out I was posting as a provider

It would be useful as I prefer to give work to warriors too - I often end up looking in the wso section to see if anyone is offering what I want done. I got an ebook written (well, a draft of one) there before after looking for how to find a warrior to do it.

Perhaps if we get enough interest here the powers that could be could sort something out.

We have jobs need doing - somebody has the talent.

    Let's match em up.

    Seems like a win win.

I would use it as well. I can find a provider on one the many freelancer sites, however for many of my tasks I prefer people with a background in Internet Marketing. Sometimes this is difficult to find.

I agree, a wanted section would be helpful, to post if you are looking for someone to take a job. It might end up leading to some kind of freelancing or auction site though, and that would require some kind of leadership or something. But if we did self moderate, maybe Allen (powers that be) could set up a forum for just posting wanted ads. I know I would use it for finding certain services like graphics, and copy work and things of that nature.

I don't think it would pose a problem. The War Room was getting out of hand so a couple of respected members were asked to moderate it and now it's in better shape. The same thing could happen if a new section started to take a turn for the worst.

All in all I think it'd be a great addition. It's much easier buying services from people who have a background in marketing online, specifically members of this forum as they know what you're talking about most of the time and you don't have to spell out every tiny little detail.

I could see myself using this on occasion too. In fact, I was kind of wishing for it a short while back.

I guess want ads currently fit in the classified ads section, but it seems to be dominated by "for sale" type ads. You really have to sift in order to find the want ads.

It only makes sense to have a wanted section. I have actually posted a couple of wanted posts recently and wondered why I could not find a wanted section. Make it happen mods.

I really like the idea. It's the flip side of the 'offered' coin.

However, 'make it happen mods' is not the way to approach this. We can express our interest and support for an idea, but it's up to Allen to decide if the idea has merit, and to act on it, or not. Let's not think that we are entitled to demand anything here.

I too looked for this type of section and could not find it. Seemed very strange to me considering everything else that is here.

Also, why in the world is AdSense/PPC in the same section as SEO? It makes no sense.

SEO / Backlinking should be it's own section, and PPC should have it's own section. They are each big enough topics on their own to merit their own sections, at least in my opinion.

Until a special "wanted" forum is established, if ever, you can run a classified ad for your want. Just start the subject "Wanted, a Warrior to (do whatever) Then in the OP give a description of what you want and the skill level you need etc.

Of course it would cost $20, but, you would probably never have to bump it as many looking for work would book mark it and you could edit your own OP anytime you needed more work to be done, noting the new job request in your sig with a link to your ad.

Conversely one hero Warrior could start a Classified ad for all to post wants in and bump it every time it got to page 3. Now that would be one popular Warrior and one popular thread.

LOL, Run a "Want ad" in the test forum and see what happens. Do you realize there are conversations going on in the test forum. Sometimes it's fun in there.

Ask and ye shall receive. I've started the thread in classifieds and am awaiting mod approval to pay.

It'll get us started anyway! (I chose classifieds vs Warriors for hire because the for hire section required selecting a category like designing, programming, etc.)

Or you could all just hire me

Shameless self promotion aside, I agree that having a "Wanted" section could save everyone a lot of time IF it is moderated carefully and correctly. Without proper moderation (or posting standards) it could quickly devolve into a place for bottom feeders to pray on the desperate. There are a few forums where this has already happened and I would really hate to see it happen here.

In the meantime, why not simply use the Classified section or troll through Warriors for Hire? I'm honestly asking--it it any more time consuming to scroll through those boards than it would be to sort through all of the PMs you'd get from people who didn't read your "Wanted" post properly? Aren't you afraid of being bombarded by "I du gud wrk 4 u 4 cheep!" PMs/thread replies?

    Or just hire me?

Oh wait, I was supposed to put the shameless self promotion aside. My bad.

Interesting idea and definitely a shoo in for next super add-on forum, EXCEPT...

How does Allen (the forum) profit directly from the money that changes hands in a forum like that?

That would be for me a major reason for Allen NOT to do this because this forum makes millions for thousands of people and the owner(s) should get their fair cut, after all we use most of the resources free (or have done for years and it must cost a small fortune just to keep this site up considering the traffic it attracts annually).

So, that's my twist on this... we all seem excited about the Want Ad forum, I would use it to request jobs I need done and I would browse it for jobs I'd want to do BUT how will the warrior forum profit, to me that is very important (even if this is not considered instantly, in the long run I would love to see Allen get his share).

Here's one idea I came up with so this can happen asap...

    1. Allow clients to post free wanted ads
    2. All service providers (SPs) MUST post their responses to the ads in the wanted ad op.
    3. The client MUST choose a service provider within X days and also in the wanted ad op.
    4. Each will be able to post their "order button" in the wanted ad op but only after...
    5. The successful SP has paid $X.XX to the forum for that privilege (so really this will be moderated)

However this is the non-techy way I think, there must be more reliable systems out there that hopefully won't cost Allen too much to make this unattractive to start. 2 major drawbacks with my ideas up there. 1. There will be NO way to guarantee that people to PM their offers privately and then short change other SPs. 2. There will be no easy way to track the good SP (like a ranking system etc).

Anyway, all that was off the top of my head...

Any other ideas to do this effectively, quickly and not too expensively? I'm guessing this will encourage the forum owner(s) to jump at this much quicker especially considering the huge interest and value doing so will provide for all parties i.e. the clients, the SPs and the forum owner(s).

    Cheers,

I don't think anybody would object, much like the WSO section tothose posting jobs paying a small listing fee for each job they posted.

Seems only fair to cover admin / management.

It's the same story on any freelancing site.

$5 to post a job wouldn't be an awful thing .

      This.

I'd pay $10-20 for my post to be in a wanted section where people are looking for work - not in the classified section, or warrior for hire section where people are looking to hire/buy.

I was actually just looking for this a few weeks ago.

One drawback I see is the "Craigslist effect", especially if the original job posting was free. I'm guessing it would take about 20 minutes for some scumbucket to rewrite one of those manuals about driving CPA traffic on CL by pretending to look for a relationship.

Kunle, I like your idea, but I'm not sure about requiring a transaction within a given amount of time. What if none of the people posting replies is right for the job?

I'd amend that to something like, without a hire (and additional fee paid, something like the ebay system), the listing simply expires and disappears. The initial listing fee covers the overhead, and the success fee provides the profit.

I ended up posting in the main section last time and then after a few hours it got deleted i think but ended up getting 50+ replies and found some very good workers too.

A dedicated section would be great and if it was free then people who can do those jobs would also be more willing to post up ads in the for hire or wso section too because they know people need them!

Only problem i can see with it at the moment is in order to tell the OP's of the 'wanted ads' that you do this and if you have a thread already then its probably easier just to say check out my sig link or thread for details! Which currently is against the rules.

Definitely support this idea! It can be tough to sort through all the posts on the Warriors for Hire forum (alternative idea - sub forms for each of the different types of Warriors for Hire in that section, so that it's easier to find the exact type of worker you're looking for).

Please forgive me for bumping an old thread, but I believe this was a great thread and there were no definitive answers so thought I would ask again.

I think a paid wanted section would be great .... I dont think $20 is fair though as you usually are looking for a single job done. Where as classified and WSO threads there is the possibility to sell many services and many products (also wanted section you are paying for ad and the service ... classified one ad payment then hopefully income).

My suggestion would be $2-$5 a wanted ad that way warriors could use warriors to help out ...

I really would love feed back from Someone like Paul Myers as I am sure this has been discussed before and there is an obvious administrative nightmare that I am missing.

    Any thoughts?

Haven't seen this thread before, but I agree a wanted section would be useful.

There are many talented warriors who know how to do things, which other warriors need/want to get done.

I would be happy to pay a small fee to be able to make requests in a wanted section,
say $5 to $10 to get listed.

Charging a small fee would ensure only people who are serious make wanted requests.

    Just my two cents worth...

I would be happy to pay a small fee to be able to make requests in a wanted section,
say $5 to $10 to get listed.

Charging a small fee would ensure only people who are serious make wanted requests.

      Just my two cents worth...

This is an older thread, but I did start a classified at my expense as a stop-gap measure. It's taken some traffic. I presume it's still OK to use. It's in my signature (again, this is a classified ad I paid for, not something I'm selling).

        Gary,

I've just bumped that one for you. Every time it scrolls off page 2, let me know and I'll bump it again until I have a chance to speak with Allen about the idea. I love the initiative and the spirit behind that thread.

And you're moderating your own thread. You are officially my hero of the week!

Take a lesson, folks. What Gary did here is what being a Warrior is all about. Scroll up to his post and click the Thank You button, please.

Better thought. I've made that one a sticky until we get a chance to decide how to handle this. No more need to bump it and no more paying on your part. If you see something in that thread that's inappropriate, let me know via PM and I'll delete it.

You may want to edit the first post to let people know to change the title section of their own posts, so folks can just scroll down and find who wants what they're selling.

          Again... Thank you. Nicely done.

That's what being a Warrior is all about, innit?

I've deleted the ads people posted in that thread. I'll check in occasionally, and get rid of the inevitable additions from people who don't want to read.

I know this an relatively old thread but the idea is too good to be left alone. Paul, have you had a chance to talk to Allen about the Hiring Forum?

Paul I knew it was a good idea to get you involved ... I read the whole old thread hoping you had something to say Iam glad you did now.

Gary sorry for not mentioning you it was your signature on a completely different thread that got me here, and to your paid thread which was such a fantastic Idea as an alternative.

I was just worried about your bumping costs etc...Gary WOW a sticky of your own I suggest getting a signature Link that is a bit more "selfish" (for lack of a better word) you deserve the extra exposure you will get

Gary I am sure you have something to link to that will help your own online business? If not a great idea I liked was someone Linked a WSO they really found worked great and had that in their signature as a Thank You.

Your sticky could get thousands of views thats a waste if the only link that is in your signature is to the same thread .

PS I would like to thank the OP who started this thread.

Ok..I've got a wanted section up. There is a small charge. I'd rather something like this be free but sadly all that would do is create another spam hole that would need to be moderated.

    Hope this helps..

    Thanks!

Fantastic idea. I was just thinking of where to post a 'wanted' ad and was pondering on posting it in Warrior JV but your suggestion is much better.

    I'm in too!

I'd like to know how the last thread in that section got approved.

It's a blatant solicitation for affiliates for a product and NOT a job.

Yeah, I'm confused. Earlier this year I posted something similar to this in the Main discussion area, thinking it was OK (didn't know any better), and got the boot for like 2 weeks. Hmmm, interesting....

          Well that explains it.

I have a feeling we're going to see some weird borderline stuff over there
          for a while.

          Should be interesting.
