Clickbank is draining my account Fast!

I think it's $5 per pay period, and it's standard. Call them and ask to have the accounting department issue a check for the remaining funds. 800-390-6035

I cannot get a cheque yet,since they have a minimum payment thing and also the 5 different credit card rules.
My account went form $40 to $18 because of this.I know its not much,but those were my few first sale which I never got.

That's what I'm saying...if the orders are older than 60 days (past the refund period) they will make an exception and issue a check, regardless of the CDR (Customer Distribution Requirement.)

Set your Payment Threshold at $10. Then you just gotta pick up the phone and call them. Probably chat with the Accounting group.

My sister have 8 sales and still not getting paid. She set minimum payment to $100 and she have $189 in her account...

I don't think the 5 credit card conditions applies.. I think its pretty unlikely that those 8 sales can't reach these conditions...

Keep in mind that American Express and Discover card do not count toward the 5 different card rule. If there are 4 Visa cards used and 4 American Express cards used, for example, the Customer Distribution Requirement hasn't been met.

You know, they do have a phone number. Your sister could just call or email them and find out why a check hasn't been mailed or when it will be.

Just google "clickbank inactive accounts" and you'll see posts like "Clickbank, Stop Stealing My Money!"

This ehow article talks about it:

The Clickbank policy on dormant accounts is "Accounts with a positive balance but no earning for a period of 90 days will begin to incur some account charges. These charges are $1 per pay period (a pay period is 2 weeks) after 90 days of inactivity, $5 per pay period after 180 days of inactivity, and $15 per pay period after 365 days of inactivity."

So it's not just $5 a month, it's $5 a pay period, which I believe is every 2 weeks.

I got burned by this. I was out of IM for a year and a half or so, and didn't even realize I had made a few Clickbank sales until I decided to get moving again and checked my account. Turns out I had sales totaling $165, but due to their dormant account policy, they had taken every cent of it.

The lesson as I see it: Don't get into Clickbank at all unless you know you're planning to stick with it and have a plan to get sales. If you just make a few sales and stop, you will not, in all likelihood, receive the money you "earned." And if you're making sales, keep making 'em. If you stop with money still due you, wave bye-bye to it.

As far as I know, this is the only affiliate program with a gotcha like this. Any others out there?

yah i had to hit that 5 sales 5 diff credit card rule quick to avoid this myself. so bottome line...try to increase the number of sales every way possible so that they can send you the check

The lesson ought to be to keep the threshholds as low as possible, so you don't leave money in there.

After you start getting paid, you can change those in your account settings.

I believe the lowest threshhold is $10, and I leave it there for that exact reason.

Many of the big networks do the same thing, and some will just cancel your account all together. At least CB keeps your account and links active.

Couple of months ago, I had every intention of signing up with Clickbank, but after reading their policies, I had second thoughts. I figured that there had to be a better way. So for now, I'm focusing on taking my first few steps in IM marketing, putting up a squeeze page, and later a sales page first with a Paypal button.

Don't get me wrong. I have toyed with the idea of getting into affiliate marketing, but it seemed like it was more trouble than it was worth.

I want to see how my initial efforts pan out first and play it by ear first, rather than messing around with the likes of Clickbank so quickly. Seems that Clickbank should be carefully researched before making any commitments.....

I'm pretty shocked to hear across the entire forum such hesitation about using ClickBank. If you can figure out a way to get 1 sale, why wouldn't you just repeat that process and get 5 or 10 more sales?

The rule about inactive account fees is really there to prevent affiliates from generating paychecks by buying products through their own affiliate links.

Consider this, though. How many ClickBank products do most IM'ers buy in a year? I know I've purchased at least 5 in the last year and I always buy through my own affiliate link. This counts as a sale, so my account isn't considered inactive.

If my account were a new account, my purchases wouldn't count toward the Customer Distribution Requirements (5 different card numbers and at least 2 of either Visa, MC or PayPal), but they would still be seen as activity on my account.

That means no dormant fees up to 90 days after I make my purchase.

ClickBank isn't out to get your account for the $40 you have sitting there. They are out to get you motivated and taking action to get more sales. Sadly, most people stop at 1 or 2 sales because it is "too hard."

Take consistent action and you'll see consistent results. This is a life principle, not just a ClickBank principle.

What commitments? To abide by their terms of service? It's free to join as an affiliate.

This is exactly the problem. You don't have to commit anything to ClickBank. You have to commit to yourself that you'll do the work, write the articles, post on the blogs and forums, build backlinks, etc.

Massive results require massive action. Most people aren't comfortable with taking massive action, but they get upset when they don't see massive results.

Here's the irony: when ClickBank starts deducting dormant account fees, instead of putting more effort into generating more sales, most beginning affiliates will put all their effort into crying, "Foul!" What a waste.

These are two separate issues.

Deductions were made from your account because it went dormant
(i.e no sales). That's nothing to do with failing to meet the
minimum payment or the 5 different credit card rules.

So Can somebody answer this? I made sales in feb.. my account has to be dormant for 90 days meaning no sales.. But what Im asking is if I make sales does that dormant thing start over?

The last three deductions on one account were for $50 each, forgot I even had the account - much less any sales from it.

Anyway - due to this and numerous other issues I won't touch 'em again - there's plenty of alternatives out there.

"Dormant" means no sales. If you made just 1 sale every 90 days, you'd never see the dormant fees.

I don't know anything about $15 after 365 days, they drained my account for 50 a pop - after weeks of $5 deductions. What a crock ... :rolleyes:

  Ouch.. I got a $500+ balance but I didn't reach the 5 different CC and stuff they want yet but what I do once they start talking me $1 or so I just go find a cheap product (or anything I might be interested in) and purchase it using my link lol.. Yeah I "extend" myself doing that

not sure why people get upset, just go and focus on making some more sales rather than dwell on your first sale, your home run with CB is your first cheque not your first sale.

  You will have to make 5 sales before they send you your first check. Also, unless the 5 sales came from Visa and MasterCard (PayPal not included), you will not get a check.

I know your pain... When I first started, I sold a copy of my book. I was so excited. There was the $12 in my account. But no more sales came. Next time I checked, the amount had dropped by about half, and then to 0.

It seems like a stupid rule when you consider the money is just sitting there. What justifies this higher fee, I'd like to know? Other than the fact CB is not making any money from your account, so why not take what they can?

You'll just have to get out there and market harder, make more sales, and then get paid. Set your payment level at the minimum, which I think is $50? If I'm not mistaken, though, that means you will pay more to get $100 from your account. (paying 2x for the cheque or money transfer)

There is some misunderstanding here. If your Payment Threshold is set to $50 and you make sales totaling $100, you're not going to get 2 checks for $50 each. You'll get 1 check for $100 minus the check/money transfer fee.

The Payment Threshold is set by you, the affiliate or vendor and tells ClickBank to send you a check for the entire balance in your account if the payment amount is greater than your chosen Payment Threshold.

The minimum Payment Threshold is $10. That's where every one of my accounts is set at and it's one of the first things I change when I open a new account. That way, when there is more than $10 in my account and I've met the CDRs I get a check for the entire balance.

You can get round the "customer distribution requirement" (which you only ever need to do once) by asking a few friends/relatives to buy some high commission $3/$4 product using your affiliate-link using collectively an appropriate variety of credit-cards, if you really need to. The last time I looked there was quite a suitable-looking "chocolate cake recipe e-book" available for $3 which paid quite a bit of commission!

I just made my first sale a couple weeks ago with an upsell.
I also just put up a wind and solar site so im going to buy all 3 ebooks for the review page for myself.But im using my friends Ccards,through my link,so ill have review copys.Ill also get the 5 card limit.
This way im making more sales,and it will only cost me around 50 dollars.
But ill make affiliate commisions also.

Well the problem of avoiding dormant sales and meeting the customer
distribution requirement is of particular importance to ClickBank

I used CB a number of years ago when I was targeting a specific geographical location in the UK. I has a couple of hundred dollars in my account, but could not withdraw it as there was then a rule that postal addresses (I think it was) had to be from different areas of the country, or different parts of the world.

I just saw all of my earnings drain away into the ClickBank coffers.

Now in all fairness, when I searched their TOS, they did explain this rule. I had simply missed it or not understood it when I opened my account.

I probably would use CB again in the future, in certain limited circumstances, but only for country wide or international transactions.

Just my experience and thoughts.

Listen to all the new CB wannabe users out there I want to ask you something;

If you have over $200 in your account will you not set the limit to $100 and get paid what is owned to you
Or will you leave it like this poster "not knowing" he has got the money and then complain when CB take the money for being inactive and then want nothing to do with them

I have had 3 payment from CB and my last check is on it's way for $450 the 2 other over $1000 each and that in less than 2 years so not a lot of earnings but then again I need to get my marketing jacked up.

Don't listen to these complaints but get out there and make some money. These "dormant" account is "dormant" for a reason and these "dormant" users must stop complaining and become "active" users

I had one sale of a monthly recurring type. To Clickbank that was ONE credit card even tho the customer had paid 6 months in a row. I was getting dinged the $5 and bought a few of my own things using different cards. I finally got to the 5 limit and they paid me to zero my account. Now that I have reached the 5 rule, I can rest knowing if I don't or do make a sale they will pay me.

I honestly know why you all mess with Clickbank and Affiliate Marketing. It just seems to stressful to chase niches and deal with Clickbank for small commissions. There are much better ways to make money with Internet Marketing.

I've one question, if i set my limit to 10$ and get commission more than this amount so how they work that out ? and after that if there is no sale for 90 days then is there any dormant account stuff applies cause setting lower limit and getting more commission than set amount could clear whole balance anyway,so ? :|
