Article Outsourcing *HORRORS*

Here is the scenerio...I spend a good amount of time on my blog, writing review for different mlm companies, leaders, product and just some general training and mindset.

Well I got to thinking...I can only produce so much content, so I decided to outsource. And No, I won't say who, cause it is irrelevant.

I paid a decent amount, not too high, not too low. around $10 an article.

So last night I recieved my order, excited as hell.

Im ready to plop the content on the blog, shoot some videos and drive some traffic. I get about 3 or 4 pieces of content in and realize that most of it all the same...With a little bit of details and the product changed.

Honestly, I could see right on that the majority of the work was done with bots....

And needless to say..im P!$$e|) really.

I just had to vent to some warriors...

And yes. I have contacted the company and nicely expressed my frustrations and gave them some examples..

Any thoughts...

I have not outsourced any writing for a while but I've had some terrible results in the past. If I'm going to outsource writing I start with a small job of just a few articles and if they are acceptable I'll order more.

Yes, I did. I purched a smal handful that were not very similar topics just to see the range...they looked good. A little choppy and needed a little me touch, but overall worth the time.

      These were just "WHACK" lol

My very first article outsourcing project was for 12 articles. I was very specific about what I needed re: article length, keywords, keyword density & when I needed the articles. What was delivered to me was sooo poorly written. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I was mad enough to shake the guy out of his skin!

My subsequent article writing projects (using the services of fellow Warriors) have turned out a whole lot better.

$h1+ happens. Hopefully this person/company wasn't hired from this forum.

As an aside, poorly written content cracks me up. I love it when I see crappy articles on EZA for example because they're just so...bad. It's funnier when it's not content that you paid for, of course

    Sucks man...

As a part-time freelancer, I've made my share of mistakes
I'm not too proud about, but like any good business, you
learn from them, improve and move on.

There were times where you wish you could turn back time
and do it all over again...but than again, that's the nature
    of any business we run.

You got the bad end of the stick, and the expectations are
always higher the more money you pay for them.

Would you not have been as concerned had you paid say,
$2-$4 for the same article as opposed to $10?

yes I would have felt different if they were 2-3 dollar articles...I could have justed used them for backlinks and stuff like that. But I am putting together a 4-phase marketing strategy that requires real content and it was not good enough.

I told the company salesman that we need to speak asap about the quality of the products and my satisfaction.

BTW this was not a 10 article purchase... There were 50.

I run an article directory and I am getting lot of articles every day from many different sources.

I must say that about 70 % of the articles are totally unpublishable and the ones that are publishable I still need to edit some of them quite a lot before I can publish them.

Your experience does not surprise me at all and I hope you get your money back, but lot of people they just distribute them to article directories without much thinking at all.

I have a site that I'm trying to download content through Article Marketing Automation and similar sites. This site has real readers and I don't want junk. I unsubscribed from it because the content was pure junk! Between that and the fact I would get 5 "different versions" of the same article in 5 minutes drives me batty.

If you are using AMA, please stop sending crap!

It is shocking that such crap actually gets through. My time is limited so I joined one of those article exchange deals where they send you articles you can use on your blog. I wrote my own and added it so others could publish it. Only a few did. So I figured it had to be the topic.

Either that, or the other members wouldn't recognize a well written article if they fell over it. The stuff I got was literally junk. Obviously, most of it was put through the spinner and came out making no sense.

I can't imagine EA actually publishing such garbage.

But that's not the point here, is it? You're looking for solutions.

Once you have purchased the articles, you can only hope the company does its best to satisfy your needs by rewriting them or refunding your money. $500 is a ton to put down for garbage that you have to rewrite.

You will have to screen your providers better next time.

        1) ask to see 5 articles they have written on the same topic (not necessarily the one you are targeting). This will give you an idea of how the writer handles one topic.

        2) check their credentials. Who is doing the writing?

        3) don't ask for sites that publish their work... odd to say that, but you have no idea whether the material had to be rewritten before being published. So the site result tells you very little.

        4) ask for contacts of previous clients so you can see what they got and get their opinion about the service.

        5) place a short order of 2 articles to see the quality before ordering what you need.

        6) ask to receive the finished product in series of 5 or 10, and pay as you go. That way, you can monitor the progress and cancel at any time.

That's about all I can think of to protect you in future. There are excellent workers out there (me being one ) who are very well qualified to give you what you want. They are respectable business operators who are serious about making a good impression and satisfying their customers. You'll find them right here on the Forum.

        Hope this helps.

        Sylvia

PS: Before you ask, no, I'm not doing freelance writing at the moment. Too bad for you, I guarantee it.

To get a quality piece of content done I normally pay $50 per 1000 words.

The real difference is when you get someone who actually knows about the subject and isn't just doing some quick Googling.

Im actually not sure about their refund policy.. I don't really want ta refund....just content. lol.

Some of thier articles would never pass eza because they are negative reviews. some of which have absolutely no clue about what they are writing about. The information is extremely vague and in come cases false..lol.

I can say from my own experience that there are a good many who call themselves writers but they don't know how to research worth a fig. I always thought the two skills would go together but apparently that's not always the case.

I recommend giving a small order on a topic that you are very familiar with but would take some research for anyone not knowing the topic. That way you can get a sense of their writing skill and style while seeing if they know how to properly research a topic.

It can take a while to find a good writer, or set of writers, that you can rely on to do a good job but it is worth it.

While outsourcing articles I always make sure that the candidates bidding for the jobs are either North-American or UK based writers. Sometimes you have to pay a bit more for that but it's worth the money. I have cancelled my jobs several times simply because i didn't find the right candidate. And I always ask them to write a 100 words blurb on my topic. In fact, I always have this as one of the screening criteria that i mention in the job description.

I have managed to find at least 4 - 5 writers from the US and UK who will happily write 500 words articles for 2 - 3 dollars. A couple of them are so good that I use their articles as my website content. I hired them for writing articles for article marketing and Web 2.0 sites but later i discovered that they have excellent writing skills and can be easily used for content writing.

But there is one problem. Sooner or later the writers will realize that they are talented enough to get more for their work and soon you might not just get their service at that price. But then again there's another new writer waiting for you ... you just need to find them out.

Jeff, sorry to hear what you have experienced to other outsourcing providers. I have the same problem with our clients right now. Most of their previous writers(freelancer/company) will not provide them the article they have agreed. Most of the time the quality and the content originality failed.

If you still want to try outsourcing to your future projects, ill be more than happy to assist you. i'll be sending you references and samples as well.

Tell me about it, I've had nightmares with article writers!

The one I took the plunge with had great reviews on a particular forum and "sounded" like a large company (I have my doubts now because of how damn unprofessional the service was) so I paid for 50 articles in advance.

Firstly, the contact was poor. I received none for weeks. Then finally after a few emails, the main man messages me back and he was fantastic at giving me professional excuses. He said he'd assigned my work to a content writer.

Fine, so the content writer talks to me on AIM and all seems well. Then no contact again for a week. After an email, the main dude tells me she was fired because she was irresponsible. GREAT!

Finally after around 2 months I get my first batch of articles back - Initially, everything seemed great..until I did a random keyword search on a few articles. All the writer (I use that loosely) did was copy the same damn article that was on the first or 2nd page of Google already!

I was FUMING!! Luckily, the guy did give me a refund but that was 2 months of project time lost because of chasing these clowns.

Sorry to hijack the thread but just wanted to share my experiences too..Jeff I'd really recommend getting a refund. I know it's long to start again but it will save you aggrevation in the long haul. Trust me!

It's always been my policy, if for no other reason than it makes the rewriting and/or payment process a lot simpler. I think it probably helps in getting clients, as well, since they have nothing to lose.

For bigger orders, I divide the work into chunks for billing. You don't want to be left on the hook for two grand worth of work if the company folds.

Unfortunately these days it seems like there are dozens of people who are trying to market themselves as writers because they think that all you need to create a good piece of writing is Google and an article spinner.
