I did very well with my membership sites when I had them. (I sold them last year).

What type of feedback are you looking for

      Hi Kim,

Are you charging members per month subscription or one time payment?

      Thanks,

        Steve,

could you be so kind and give us a little bit more feedback (don't have to
give specific names...) -- I'd love to hear why you thought it failed you as a consumer.

then, if everybody who is member of a membership site/continuity program
adds their input, we'll have some fantastic market research here for all of us.

        I'll give it a go:

        joined

        - Rich Schefren's founder's club: started off with fantastic content, however:
too much content, couldn't consume it all. Then they quickly
changed from the initial 'wow'-factor webinar to having 'just' teleseminars
(sometimes with handouts). I'm still in there because I like to
study their model (they keep changing on a regular basis and there
is actually good content (from my perspective of course, so even the stuff
I don't like, is probably very good for others). The KEY idea I like about
their model is that they sell each piece of content as a lead-gen low-ticket
item (very similar to Ryan Deiss)

        - Jimmy D Brown's listandtraffic. At only $10 a month, it's the kind of "ah well,
might as well stay, because I "might" use the content at some point.
Sometimes it's really good, most of the time it's definitely ok, but have
I taken 'real', measurable action on a specific report? No. And I'm still in it,
        2 years in....

        - Ryan Deiss' TAC: was a free member for a month, total overwhelm.
absolutely terrific content though -- and you get most of the stuff he sells as
premium products (between $97 and $197 when they launch it) for free.

almost any upsell "hey, buy this product for cheap and get 1 month for free" I take, test-drive for a month, then cancel. I even set my outlook to
remind me to cancel on time. And usually, because it's free and not super-
relevant, I don't even look into it.

if you want to set up something in this direction, and need more specific
feedback from me, PM me (or, if it's relevant to everybody, ask here and I'll
        respond here)

I'd love to hear from anyone who may be in a health/beauty/weight related
        continuity program.

        Cheers

        Veit

See to me a membership site unless otherwise specified is to be lifetime, yes I know it may not be lifetime...but to many membership sites are like meteors and fizzles super fast!!!!

Have had mine since 2007. 20% of my members have been paying me monthly for almost 3 years.

Yes - it is VERY profitable if done right.

I've done well with my membership sites in the past - even sold a couple. Spent 12 months writing and trying to sell an ebook on creating membership site and ironically gone back to creating instead of teaching and am MUCH happier lol.

I think paid subscription forums are a better idea

I like the idea of having a membership site mainly because you can have a recurring payment system, but coming up with an idea that people will pay for is difficult.

How do you guys know what to sell? I was thinking of creating a product and allowing members to access a secured place for additional modules, updates or forum.
