My Video has no video in it! Whats your opinion on this style?

Hi All,

We have decided on creating a new video style for a prelaunch video.

The video basically just uses images with a few effects here and there, what do you think of the style?

My Video has no video in it!!

Would be interested in your thoughts

Thanks

I think it looks great, wouldn't mind having an intro like that for my vids, but I think you'd do better to add some audio over it to make it compelling. There wasn't any reason for me to opt-in, although the vid was so nice I played it twice!

Do you create those too as a product or just for your personal use?

the video looks good but like Blondi said it didn't give me any reason to opt-in..mainly because I don't know exactly what's the deal with the actual product

      Hi Rich,

There will be some audio too, but this is just a taster of whats to come with this project.

We do create videos for clients (high end pricing) but this is just another style we have tried for our project

      Thanks

Visually impressive. However the are no benefits or call to action. If you want something that looks nice then you succeeded. If you want something that will make someone sign up to your list then I think you may need to throw in a few benefits and tell them what to do.

I like the style, trendy and sophisticated. How does producing something like this compare to producing traditional video? Looks like it could be a bit more time intensive, then again I imagine most of the transitions are scripted.

      Hi James,

I can only relate it to the style of video we do, we use a hell of a lot of 3D and very advanced techniques so this style was a lot easier than the norm.

I can say tradional.... we dont offer that ;o)

Thanks for teh trendy and sophisticated, like those words

I kinda like it. I think this style has it's place and I'm sure with some tweaking of a final version with benefit implications would draw some opt ins.

Even though it's not "real" video, you can still translate a persona, which can add interest, credibility, whatever... A bit apart from the herd as well.

I must say, I wouldn't pay a grand for that style of vid. (Not quoting your pricing; referencing a round about figure I saw from another thread for GG vid creation)

Pricing? Lead Time for this style?

Would all depend on what exactly was needed, we have gone this way, for impact, other vids in the prelaunch will explain the prouct more, just trying to do something outside the norm.

We will be primarily using JV partners to get the word out on this project, they will supply the detail and we will supply the fun and the product.

But something like this would probably be done in a day, so we'd be pricing around the $500 mark (with addons for additional work like scripting and VO's etc)

Appreicate that this puts us out of the majority of most IM'ers, but we are creating a niche and there are people ready to jump on us when we are available

      Thanks for your input

Perhaps I posted this before I should have, was just the style I was gathering thoughts on, which seems positive, need to hone the message, but it was only intended as a very brief introduction to the story behind PLR Heist,

Looking like I need to give more content on there

Thanks for your thoughts, as always, its a pleasure to hear your thoughts. I actually saw your name and went to get a coffee as it normally means reading an essay ;o)

        Hi Lainie,

It's probably better you didnt read it all. A little bit naughty in places, heehee

The transistions was actually a hard one, we orginally had it a lot quicker, wanted to be quick and punchy feel to it, but decided on adding a couple of seconds extra to each character. I'll wait to see further feedback on that, i'm undecided - but slowing it down anymore would probably hurt the video.

        Thanks for your feedback, appreciated

Very cool, Darren! Loved the visual of the smoke coming from the cigar!

It's fast-paced, and people have to be quick to look at the interesting faces AND the text. Perhaps you could add a one-second delay to the time between when the image changes and the text appears. That would give viewers a (tiny) chance to enjoy the images before they have to switch their attention to the words... know what I mean? That way you might be able to keep the fast pace, without extending the time the words are there to be read... and yet allow people time to actually read it.

Of course, having a narrator read the words would eliminate the need for viewers to read them (but I'd keep them there anyway).

I really like this attention-grabbing style!

      Neat video.

I don't know if it will sell much as it is but the idea of using cool images and titles should work fine.

You might want to focus on explaining specific benefits to your prospects.

Thanks to everyone who commented on the video, the original idea was to release this is a teaser, then provide more info about the product in a follow up video, clearly this isn't the right direction for us to take.. do people think that adding to the length of this video by adding more information about the end product would be key to getting more signups?

Thanks for the positive comments about the style, I had fun doing it!

I second that... next one slow it down and add more to the story will probably help. You might even consider a short pulp comic style to add in story to get people to seek more.

To be totally honest.... I did not like it at all!

    Heres why,

The entire thing seams like an intro... The entire time your waiting for it to start.... Then it ends!

It does not explain anything, nor does it grow intrest in its viewer for the product... And its kind-of hard to read...

    The quality was great...

But if you are using that video to try to get people to enter there email address..... I dont think its the best.

    Those are my honest thoughts

I'll be honest and I say this every time I see a video like this, there's too much reading. I don't know about everyone else but I watch videos for the visual and audio effect... not just music (unless it's a music video). I don't want to read everything, I want to hear it.

I don't mean to offend you so please take the following as constructive criticism. The visual was OK - wasn't a huge fan; it just seemed like scrolling stock photos with the occasional particle effect.

Well, this just goes to show that my dislike of Internet Marketing exploitation of video is more than justified.
What on earth was supposed to be happening and why?
If I visit a web site, I want information - and I want it NOW!
If I am viewing an ad I want to know what's in it for me and I want to know QUICKLY!
This seems to be just another sales ploy to create a market for something that is self defeating. I know everybody says video sells, and some of it might, but looking at the reaction of non internet marketing web site viewers, I would say that video repells.
Be honest with yourslves, if you want information from a web site, do you watch and listen to some arty video or audio or do you go for written, absorb it at my own speed text?
Text is great. It doesn't stall. It doesn't take excessive time to load. It can be presented in bullet points so the reader gets to the bit he is interested in faster and it is in your own accent with no annoying sound effects.
Still, if you only sell to other internet marketers who have been brought to worship at the altar of the video camera, it could work for you.

      Hi Darren,

I intend to consider your work than an experiment, was not bad for it. But I see it in that manner, is yet what to carry out product development on it, particularly what concerns the message.

Since this is not a tutorial character video, I do not derive the practical profit from it for me.

      All the best,

      Artwebster.
I appreciate any comments on the video, as everyone is entitled to their opinion..

Can I suggest though that you read through the thread a little more carefully, darren is asking what people think of the style of the video, not the content, it isn't a finished piece yet so obviously doesn't get the full message across yet. Sorry you hate video so much.

      Also..

Well, this just goes to show that my dislike of Internet Marketing exploitation of video is more than justified.
I think thats one of the most amusingly unjustified, sweeping statements I have read in quite some time.

        Hi, Sniffy,

Can I, in return, suggest that you read what I said about the video:-

What on earth was supposed to be happening and why?

I believe that succinctly encapsulates my opinion of the style of the video.

The rest of my comments were to explain why I feel the way I do rather than just leave an unexplained opinion.

I make it a point NEVER to respond to anything without carefully ensuring I understand what is being said or requested.

Maybe they will be able to create a video that gives me what I want, when I want it and in the sections in which I want it - I'm sure I cannot be the only one who doesn't have the time to sit through parts of a video that are not relevant to me - just as I don't have time to sit and watch a video with no apparent purpose.

Incidentally, I don't hate video. What I dislike is video for the sake of video. What I dislike is video that insults my intelligence. What I dislike is video that wastes my time. What I dislike is video that won't play properly. My dislikes are all indicative of areas that video producers should be paying attention to.

A great technical achievement is nothing if it serves no purpose and, as I said, What on earth was supposed to be happening and why?
