  • from what you both write about gravity, to me it seems like a useless indicator. i guess it kinda lets you know if a product was selling, but what if you've got a bunch of affiliates who only make one sale? gravity can be skewed

how can one use gravity to determine if a product is actually selling?

      One can't.

It often refelcts high affiliate turnover, with huge numbers struggling to make one or two sales each because the conversion rate's so low; and even more being attracted as affiliates on an ongoing basis because they imagine - often wrongly - that "it must be selling because it has a high gravity". :p

As explained in so many of the posts and threads linked to above.

Gravity gives no indication that the product's selling.
  • THanks for this explanation of the clickbank scoing system, the danger is that this is a negative feedback loop.

If a group of people select the product based upon having a high gravity score and only get modest results, that is sufficient to gain more affiliates based upon the perception that it is good, which raises the gravity score whilst being really being an indication that things are difficult.

What this demonstrates I think is the value of using more than one indicator, in fact if you find products with low gravity but high popularity, it should be a place where the competition is lower and the conversions rates are high.

So I wouldn't dismiss gravity as meaningless but it has value when used in conjugtion with other elements
  • Yeah, A 'sleeper' product with few affiliates but knocking it out the park with those 5 affiliates would have a low gravity and high sales and LOW competition! You'd want in on that one!
  • I've decided Alexa's posts = gold
