Low URL clicks on Ezine Articles... Any suggestions ???

Hi Everybody,

This is my first time on "Warrior Forum"...

I'm the publisher of metropolasia.com : An online-travel-guide to the cities of Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore.

As part of my traffic-building efforts, I have been writing articles to ezinearticles(35 live articles so far - Most of which were written in the last three months), but although I'm getting a relatively reasonable number of article-views (3,600 views), my click-rate is not very impressive... only 5%... and only 19 articles published...

Can anyone give me some suggestions ? Are the topics I'm writing about wrong ? Do I miss something in terms of how to lead the reader to the click?

Here are some examples of articles that received reasonable views but hardly any clicks... (Sorry - I'm not allowed to publish the full links, as this is my first post...)

1) Macau Attractions - 7 Unique Museums in Macau You Should Try to Visit : ezinearticles.com/?Macau-Attractions---7-Unique-Museums-in-Macau-You-Should-Try-to-Visit&id=3348523

2) Hong Kong Travel - Romantic Restaurants in Asia's World City : ezinearticles.com/?Hong-Kong-Travel---Romantic-Restaurants-in-Asias-World-City&id=3429107

3) Hong Kong - Top 10 Attractions in Asia's World City ; ezinearticles.com/?Hong-Kong---Top-10-Attractions-in-Asias-World-City&id=3486273

4) Hong Kong Attractions - Victoria Peak - Beyond Tourist Traps : ezinearticles.com/?Hong-Kong-Attractions---Victoria-Peak---Beyond-Tourist-Traps&id=3561906

5) Hong Kong - Beautiful Beaches Right Next to a Busy Metropolis : ezinearticles.com/?Hong-Kong---Beautiful-Beaches-Right-Next-to-a-Busy-Metropolis&id=3630541

6) Hong Kong Attractions - Five Hidden Gems Off the Tourist Track : ezinearticles.com/?Hong-Kong-Attractions---Five-Hidden-Gems-Off-the-Tourist-Track&id=3590243

    Hi,

I think your problem is this. You have your well written article which provides great information, then it ends. Then you have your bio box. The majority have read and probably enjoyed your article and stopped reading long before they reach your bio box.

Let's use your Victoria Peak article to illustrate this...

The final para begins with "And one important tip before concluding this article:" This is telling the reader the end is coming right here, read this then it's over - no more to see. So most stop reading right there.

You then end it with "Roni Shwartz is a certified travel consultant and an expert to the cities of Hong Kong, Macau and Singapore".. Sorry but article marketing is no place for egos. They neither know nor care who you are. If you want to include this magazine style ending put it after the call to action.

Then after that you have your call to action...
"To know more about Hong Kong, including recommended restaurants and nightspots, shopping tips," etc etc. This is too vague.

Ok instead this is what you should be doing...
Provide useful but incomplete info that leads them to want to know more.
Make your bio box the final paragraph
Make the call to action focussed and easy to do.

So in this case we use your "one more tip para as the bio box" but reword it as...

Unfortunately, the view of the peak is often ruined by smoggy days. Click here to find out how to be assured of the spectacular views that "the Peak" is all about and 10 other must see Hong Kong attractions. (Also have Hong Kong attractions as anchor text).

Noe you're telling them how great it can be but ending with a dire warning. They could go all that way and have a ruined visit- think they'll click now to find otu how to avoid that?

    I hope that helps

    Tony

Yeah I agree. I would say to write smaller articles around 500 words and don't get too involved but still leave em wanting more.

      In your signiture box put..

If you would like to more about Keyword+Link then please visit:

Your sigs are tooooo long, shorten them and use 1 related anchor and 1 URL

Those are some great tips Tony. I have only just started reworking the ends of my latest articles because I was told to make your bio box appear like part of the article.

Most people automatically shut off at the end of an article because they know the Author bio is just promoting something, so if you can make it seem like your author bio is just an extension of the article you will most likely increase your click through rate.

    Hello,

I've looked at a few of your articles and here's my take,

Shorten the articles, 700 and some words is too long, 400 - 500 words is enough. You could have written 2 articles in the same amount of words as you've written 1.

You have to get to the end of the article leaving the reading with some good knowledge but with a feeling that you have alot more to affer if they just click the link.

As the other warriors have said make the bio box appear part of the article and not aeperate from it, this way the natural end to the article is clicking the link not clicking away from the page.

I would also add that the information in your articles could aslo be quickly recycled as blog posts, tweets etc etc etc

Considering that at any given moment what percent of ezinearticle readers are interested in going to Asia? I would guess 5 percent is a great click through rate!

Now if you articles where about losing weight then I would expect a much higher click through simply because more readers are interested in losing weight.

I was actually having the same problem. But, I found I was making a couple huge mistakes.

I actually put together a free video explaining the entire process of what I did to pretty much change everything I was doing when it comes to article marketing.

        Here's that free video...

          Hi Alexa,

Someone who only has nineteen articles published is most likely new to the game and is most likely not well versed in the art of seo and google and is most likely getting his traffic only from the ezinearticles readership.

So while your comment is correct in the right situation it is not really relevant in this situation. lol.
