I Am Building 10 Almost Identical Blogs - Will They All Rank?

Hello,

As some of you know, I love the weight loss niche. Now I have my own weight loss PLR package. I saw some other weight loss PLR packages in the WSO and I bought them too. Together, I have some 50 articles. Many of us here have asked about the duplicate content penalty. I am willing to create 10 almost identical blogs with all this PLR. Here are some of the differences:

1) I will pick different keywords for the domain name.
2) The order of the articles will be different.
3) The post titles will be a little different.
4) I will use my hosting account that assigns each website its own unique IP.

I will load all the articles and have them post one a day for the next 50 days. I will use article marketing, social bookmarking and blog posting to create a new link portfolio for these sites. OK, I am now soliciting feedback. What do you guys think? Will I get traffic from the big G or not?

I'll be interested to see your results, Tommy!

I've started doing some niche blogging and as a test, purchased PLR packs to use as content. I made no changes to the articles at all, though I added SEOed titles.

It's too early to tell if what my results will be. Will be interesting to see if our experiences match up!

This will probably be my last coherent thought for the day, so make the most of it

I Googled for info on something earlier, and for the most part all I found were affiliate sites for the product, each using nothing more than the product sales page text. Google returned a great big long list of them, all identical bar the title. Evidently it takes a long time to bore a Googlebot.

Perhaps a few other details on the page would have to be different (title, sidebar content, image tags etc), but whatever else stops a site from being indexed by Google, it doesn't seem to be duplicate article content.

OK everybody, please post the things you think I should do in addition to the things I mentioned above to help rankings/uniqueness.

I would be surprised if they did not all rank and show up seperately in Google. The content may be the same, but if Google excluded some sites for having duplicate content there would be millions of pages that get no presence at all. You should be fine, but I will be interested in hearing your actual results.

They will all rank, almost certain.

I believe the only time duplicate content penalty applies is when there is duplicate content within the same domain or subdomains. And yes it applies to rewritten content as well due to LSI, but only if it's in the same domain or subdomain.

Nice one TomG, this one will finally dispel the duplicate content myth.

You can use the exact content with ALL 10 blogs EXCEPT just use different keywords for your niche in each one.
Thats all you need and you will be fine.

Matter of fact you can do this with most any Article or Post and you will still be 'uniquely' indexed by Google without any duplicate issues !! Remember, Google focuses on Relevance (not quality) of Content i.e. Keyword usage !!

    Nooooooooo.........

You can't do this, you'll let the cat out the bag and soon everybody will know one of the secrets niche marketers have known for ages - duplication...

Once you have a site which makes good money, duplicate it. Just make sure the rest of the world thinks your other sites are competitor's sites...

Testing is all you can do tom

Getting sites up isnt so hard, its keeping them alive.

It can feel like spinning plates with too many, even if you outsource.

That is an interesting point. Just so most of you understand, you NEED a plan if you have one or one thousand websites. I have around 176 domains, sold some, used to be over 200. I have these grouped into logical units of 10 to 30 sites. I make a spreadsheet of all activities related to these sites. This includes article marketing, adding content, social bookmarking, etc., etc. Without doing this, you would get lost in a very short timespan. You must stay organized. If you know how many sites you have and how much promotion you need to do, you'll know how much you have to work each and every day. This is crucial to success.

    Tommy my man,
you are saving me a lot of trouble.

I've been reading up on duplicate content and trying to figure out just how bad it is / how to get around it.

Depending on your results your going to help me a lot.

Also, nice post above. If my next few sites do well, I plan to outsource the process and start blasting out sites. Owning more of the internet always helps.. and 50 sites have a much better chance to outperform 5.

OOPS, forgot about this post. As far as I can tell, no dupe penalty at all. The rankings are a bit all over the map, but I think this myth is busted.

At least you have a list of blogs with your targeted keyword as the titles. So no dupe penalty, interesting, worth a try.

There will be no issue wiht it at all.

I would also use different themes and adjust settings like "max osts displayed on page" and permalinks /%category%/ on one and just page names on other etc....

Put different RSS modules on the blogs too.

I have been changing the title first and last paragraph of PLR articles and this seem to be okay but maybe from what I have seen in this tread I have been doing to much. Or at least wasting too much time.

I guess they will all rank depending upon the competitiveness of the keyword chosen and uniqueness of the content posted.
