How Do You Maximize Your Articles?

If you have one good article, what do you tend to do with it to maximize backlinks and also, traffic? I'm talking about articles to post on directories only for the sake of traffic, SEO and backlinks.

Do you simply submit to Ezinearticles only, or do you go another route?

Use it on your website first.
Submit to EZA and other directories.
Use as a module on a Squidoo lens.
Use it as a piece on a feeder blog.
    Use it on a HubPage.
Incorporate it into a short report.
Use it as part of your next ebook.
    Create a powerpoint slide presentation.
Make your slideshow into a video.
Turn your article into an .exe file to submit to software directories.
Read your article and record it, making an mp3.
Break up the article into 2 -3 sections for your autoresponder series.

That's a start...lol. You can change the article when necessary but in most of these cases, you don't need to. In my opinion, it's extremely shortsighted to use any decent piece of content only once. That's like buying cloth napkins but tossing them in the trash after one dinner.

As to changing the content or using as is for HubPages, you'd have to check the TOS. For any of the ideas, if you have to rewrite it due to the site's rules, then fine. Otherwise, you don't need to unless you want to.

A feeder blog is when you set up a blog that funnels traffic to your main site.

You can take an excerpt or the entire article. You can even mix and match paragraphs to create a new article. Or you can rewrite. It doesn't matter as long as you use it over and over.

It is a lousy return on your investment of time or money when you only use good content one time and then forget about it.

I have always posted it on EZA and that was enough but now I am building my site as well.

      Hi Tina,

Thanks for list of ideas. If I write an article can I use that exact same one and turn it into a hub? What do need to do to hubs to get them ranking well, usual Social bookmarking, Pinging?

Also you mentioned adding to feeder blog, what does this mean...adding to your own blog? Again would you just take a part of the article and post on the log or the whole article?

Thanks if you can give any further info.

Get it in front of your target audience. Find the biggest forums in your market or niche and use the article to start a thread. Or, use it as a guest post on a blog that is similar to your own site.

If you don't want to reprint the entire article in a forum, at least reprint the excerpt and point them to your original (wherever that might be).

TMG is right on the money. Use that content as much as possible. Create lots of unique pieces of content through spinning and/or rewriting is key. Ramp it up!
