Why do you start a new thread?

I was sitting here thinking, "what could I write about in a new thread?" and also, "why would I even want to start a new thread?"

So let me ask YOU. What are the primary motivations for posting?
- making connections with others
- seeking opinions
- becoming better known (branding yourself)
- increasing product awareness
- just want to chit chat
- want to stir things up and have a debate
- trying to reduce boredome, and create some excitement
- want to show your expertise/skill
- want people and search engines to see your signature
- need help!

Why would you create a new thread? What is YOUR motivation?

My main reason for starting threads is to help others.

Occasionally (and I am eliminating this) I get ticked about something and
need top vent, but I'm done with that. It doesn't serve any purpose and
only gets certain folks ticked at me.

So from now on, only useful info will be coming from this IP address.

      Unless it's in OT

I post because I want newbies to get off their collective butts and get moving. There are many ways of getting started and all the information is available here on the forum for free. Many of my posts are motivational in nature. I also like to exchange ideas in this forum and get input on some of my projects.

hmmmm, the main reason I make post or start new threads is to provide content.

      Plain and simple.

I'm not around much, well before I wasn't around at all because I was deep underground making money in multiple niches. Never really had time to be in forums for hours on end, raising hell, or shooting off at the mouth ;-)

Or trying to get my sig file up on every post without providing some sort of value to the membership.

Actually truth be known, I"m still deep underground making money but the last few months certain marketers have started to contact me and want me to come out more, provide content, and give results with what I've done as far as making money in various niches and show how I test the niches.

Even still I'm not that comfortable giving up my testing results or showing any of my niches, I mean why give the competition fuel ;-)

Personally I'll let the people I've helped speak with their testimonials and they can showcase their stuff off, while I continue to stay underground and do my thing.

Testimonials fuel your business and you don't have to be around front and center to hear about them for your business to grow.

Unless you want to be in the "spotlight" and start to be like a seminar guru being raved by thousands ;-)

Here's a little marketing tip to get good traction on the search engines.

When your using video submission services and there are a lot of them out there now free and paid, you want to test every service and test every video submission you make so you know for a fact which ones the search engines love and which ones the search engines ignore and think are just spam tools.

I'll give you a little hint, there are only a handful of video sites the engines love to receive video from and rank very highly.

      The rest just don't matter.

I'm not talking about getting hundreds of back links that drop off in hours or days, who cares about that, I'm talking about video links that pulls weight in the eyes of the engines and they will leave them up there for months at a time and you don't really have to do that much to them beside add the odd seo juice now and then.

Figure out which of those video sites the engines love and you'll quickly dominate your niche in a very short time.

So I prefer to start and respond to threads by providing content, and I think I'll always do that.

I'm just an entrepreneur who's trained thousands of students, worked with hundreds of clients to produce 6 and 7 figure incomes, a world traveler who's been to 4 continents, 102 countries, and 71 cities. Oh and here's one of my websites where I stood on stage and showed hundreds of entrepreneurs and business owners who paid $3K each how to generate a six figure income. http://internetmarketing-alchemy.com

        Hi there,

Well i start a new thread just because to get more ideas and thought on a particular topic.such as i have started a thread"Is Canada A Good Place To Work? as till now more than 6o people have replied the thread its basically the exchange of ideas and thoughts ,from a different point of view.

Some like Toronto some dont, some say BC Vancover is beautiful some say Alberta Sucks some defends Alberta.so its just a different and individual prospective as what people think about the place.

Yea when i start a thread i do intend to know people who have a fantastic point of view and who have a practical experience on it.

simaltaneously if the thread being good may fetch you traffic by your back link.

For me there are a few reasons:

#1 - It's motion. Motion begets more motion. Motion eventually becomes action and action leads to ideas and more action. It's not the only thing I do to move this spiral upwards, but it is one of the things I do.

#2 - To make connections. It's not that I'm lonely for people. But I'm hungry to be in the company of marketers. That ain't easy. Most of the folks in my life haven't a clue about why anyone who is a marketer does what s/he does. For instance, there are lots of folks who INSIST that they never are influenced by long sales letters. If everyone who claimed this was telling the truth long sales letters wouldn't work.

            #3 - To explore ideas.

#4 - to ask and (as here) to answer questions.

            Cheers,
            Bal

I suppose writing can be one of the best ways to organize your thoughts. There is no better substitute. I think this is probably the biggest reason I write, whether it be testing new ideas, or better organizing existing ideas. Thanks for everyone's feedback. Much appreciated.

    I never sit and think,
"what could I write about in a new thread?"
If something crosses my mind that I think others would find useful, interesting or even amusing, I'll consider it.

You might not think it to see some of my threads, but I'm quite careful what I post. I compose a lot of threads that never get submitted - I just decide while I'm writing, "Nah! I won't bother with that one."

hehe... My wife does the same thing. I remember in the past she would spend 30 min or more composing the post, only to delete it. Now she posts more frequently, and doesn't delete nearly as often.

I enjoy posting because I believe in "giving back." I've been incredibly lucky making money online since 1997 so I always enjoy helping others, especially newbies in article marketing, eBook publishing and general website marketing questions.

I've also asked for help because at times, we could all use the assistance of others.

generally I post to ask questions and advice from other warriors, and if the occasion arises that I can answer someone I will help out, but right now its usually the other way around but eventually I will be in a better position to give back as much as I can.

      thanks
