My new plan for making money

Here's the idea.

I'll run my own affiliate system whereby I pay affiliates
their commissions at the end of a pay period.

However I'll put all sort of difficult restrictions and
obstacles on them for getting the money out. I'll explain
the reason why in a moment.

Now I've heard all the arguments not to do this

* They will get very annoyed, very frustrated and stop
promoting my product. So I will no longer get sales from
them. Understood.

* They will tell others, for example at this forum, and word
will spread and other affiliates will be deterred from
signing up. Understood.

But surely all these negative issues will be outweighed by
this advantage

==> I'll be earning interest by holding on to their money a bit longer

Clever. Yes ?

Excellent idea Harvey. Just sit back and watch that interest roll in. Like stealing candy from a baby

The only thing I could add to this genius plan is:

At first, pay everyone on time. Then when you have enough suckers promoting other people's products, BAM, hit them with your new rules.

Any publicity is good publicity right?

  • One affiliate program I used to promote (and made plenty of money from) went from a $50.00 minimum check to $100.00. OK, I get that. Their commission was such that one purchase could get you beyond the minimum so they raised it.

Two months later they raised it again to $166.

    Hmmmmmm....

They have now held my $127.-- for over two years. They have over 125,000 affiliates. I wonder how much money they are holding?

    Harvey,

Can you post a notice when your affiliate program goes live? It sounds like what I have been looking for.

    Thanks,

    Harvey,

If you want to kick it up another notch so that you can retire in style, take $5 from every inactive account every month. Now that would be some serious money!

It throws life's logic out of the window > I understood it to be "as one gives so they shall receive" but you have now suggested " as one taketh though shall receive" ? this whole IM is getting confusing for us mere puppets.

WOW, that could be the answer to questions affiliates have about where their money is, when will they get paid, why their balance goes down after every sale, etc.

"The Harvey Giveth and the Harvey Taketh Away"

I am definitely in on this one.

      Thanks,

      John

Harvey's pulling your leg. He's actually had the affiliate platform in place for ten years and he's got nearly 100k affiliates on board selling a combined total of over $90,000,000 in product a year.

How's it working for him? Here's his payout click counter on his home page.

How 'bout loosening up on some of those affiliate checks Harvey?

ya clever and aggrevating..lol Kinda reminds me of all the affiliate programs using 1 shopping cart...I continually have to check into them ,remind vendors to pay...essentially a pia..hate it...which is main reason I like clickbank(other then being a vendor) ..at least I know I'll get paid

Harvey, I just checked. My relatives are all willing to buy products using their credit cards, if I can find a product for under $10. So, if you are planning on some arbitrary number of different credit card purchases as one of your hurdles, like maybe 5, I'm ready to jump through the hoop.

And don't forget - you can always block an affiliate's account for some bizarre infraction that you never explain, and hold their funds until it gets 'resolved' - which of course, can't happen because the affiliate help desk is only accessible from inside the affiliate account....which is blocked....but be sure to let the affiliate know that you still have the funds by sending them an 'account update' every month.

It gives them a nice warm feeling, knowing that you still care.....

The idea sounds excellent but firstly try to build the users force that pay you longer. You can increase rates or restrictions once you are popular but you can't go reverse. If you go your brand image also gets affected.

This is a real money-spinner too Harvey. If the account stops producing sales for a specified period start deducting money every 2 weeks...pure daylight robbery and should be very profitable.

haha funny guy... what would you invest it in moneymarket accout? CDs? Still you would only make about 1 percent in one year. You would have to have a lot of prospects and hope they don't opt out on you.

    Classic Harvey!

Of course, you could just spend the commissions and then drag out the whole process over months or maybe years as most people will give up trying to get their commissions in the end.

    Another idea...
    Cap affiliate payments...
Azamon UK (not sure I speld that rite) now only pay max £7 per sale.
At first no limit, then £10, then £7...

    Count me in!!!

Strangely enough, so were all the responders - I think???

You missed one - you need to take a commission payment from each affiliate's payments too. You need every penny you can get to make the scheme worthwhile.
