Hello Warriors,

Wouldn't it be nice for 871,427 fans to have in a group on facebook. I mean it wouldn't hurt...lol

This is a post about a superbowl commercial. Remember that DORITOS one.

The group was created the day of the superbowl.

Here it is now:
Keep Yo Hands Off My MAMA and My DORITOS!! | Facebook

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++=

After thinking for a bit I decided to test something...

That is :

Google Trend + Facebook Page = A Lot of Fans

and so far it is serving it's purpose well.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Look for a trend in your niche. If one pops up. Group It. Stuff It. Then Let it Ride.

Now if we new the best way to monetize this un targeted traffic, that would be something.

The only problem I see is Doritos paid Facebook one H... of a lot of money to get them to waive their 5,000 cap on page fans.

There are a lot of IMs with 5,000 fans. The secret now would be coming up with the 50 million dollars Doritos paid them. (or whatever that amount really was.)

This is no limit on Fan Pages. There is only a limit on Group Pages and personal friends.

I believe the 5,000 limit is only applicable to Facebook groups, and that is with regards to mass emailing. When one's Facebook group goes over 5,000 members, they can't mass email.

...Facebook Groups mass email function, in my opinion, works a little better than Facebook Pages status updates.....

Status updates can get lost in a person's newsfeed....while Facebook Groups' mass emails are delivered directly to a person's Facebook Inbox....

Ideally, the BEST thing to do is to grow a Facebook Group to around 4,900 members, and then mass email all of them asking them to join your Facebook page...(of hopefully a similar theme)....in fact, you can use both simultaneously.....

on another note....I used my viral facebook group to direct very targeted traffic strait to a Facebook application I had developed, that was of similar theme to the Facebook group.....I managed to gain quite a few users, for that application, within the first week or so....

    I stand happily corrected.

Although, that makes me wonder why there are so many Internet Marketers with exactly 5,000 fans:confused:

You already have most of the work done for you. Think about it... majority of the commercials that are on Super Bowl cater to..... Advertisers pay millions for the air time.

Check your insights of your page to see if that is true.

You have sexy Godaddy ads, Budweiser Commercials with guys doing funny stuff.

The demographics are in place just find stuff that us guys like..

We are already in the Sports niche hmmm..

Great example of someone using the power of Facebook to build a huge following. Thanks for sharing.

You're right about monetizing the untargeted traffic though. As soon as you go off topic and try to make money, people will report you and Facebook will shut you down.

If I were the page owner, I'd try to give away something for free to get those people onto an email list. Then I'd try to sell them stuff. Maybe Cafe Press t-shirts or something.

He could also create a site that features more funny videos and then make money from Adsense or other ads (CPA, etc). He'd do really well with an account on VideoForward.com for instance.

The secret with fan pages is to make the viral ones on general or niche specific subjects that lots of people will join.

THEN! Create another one that will make you money and mass PM or post a message (or both) on the fan page to tell them about the other fan page. Alot of them will join and that's where you make the big money!

Im currently building up 10 facebook fan pages in general niches (and profiles) and so far have directed them all to one fan page that makes me money but is very niche specific and am getting $10+ a day on average in cpa (with less than 300 fans so far).

Am just about to launch 10 more fan pages and promote them to see what i can do!

But it is a number's game and as soon as you get the numbers then it's alot easier and there is alot more money.

BUT! Trends is a great way to use facebook fan pages, especially as they rank so high in google! Never thought of that one.

Lots of people are doing that and getting their fan page with the CPA offers shut down. Facebook is policing this hard - tread carefully.

        Yep!

Hence why it's a safer bet to keep those larger pages clean and just pm or post a message on them to link to the other fan page!

Even better is building a list from them so you give them something for free and in return they then also will be upsold to a product money!

P.S. Was that recipe page promoted via your sites or just on facebook?

I seriously wish people would stop the SpaMarketing with fan pages before they ruin facebook for those of us that actually use it the proper way without breaking the terms...

Maybe I should start a Fan Page on " Facebook Users Against SpaMarketers - Stand Up And Fight Back" ....

          James it's just another 'era',

Will soon die down once people start realizing most of them are spam and then the legit fan pages will suffer! For now it's just something you put up with... i never join groups or fan pages but look at them for research!

I know many of us that don't put up with them .... And it is not just the fan pages that will suffer but all of facebook. I do not use any fan pages but seriously thinking about creating one against those wannabe marketers.

Some of us actually use facebook and not break the terms such as use "Apps" and "ads" these was created for the use of marketing, cpa offers, non-profit orgs, and etc...

There are some making millions on a well put together facebook app and none of it involves any spam or breaking of the tos.

Some days Iwish facebook would implement the idea they had a while back about making it a "paid" social network. Sure would keep many of the wannabe spammers out.

I think what they will eventually do to cut out most of the spam is make fan pages (and possibly groups) a paid feature!

Then leave you to do 'whatever' you like with the fan page!

This would cut out a whole load of spam and plus alot of business's who use the fan page feature get their fan page designed for money anyway.

But until they do something the spam fan will stay.

              Mark Blaze

P.S. A fan page is alot easier to make than an app and alot cheaper if not free!

Maybe it is easier but it is no where near as powerful ... I will laugh when all those SpaMarketing fan pages are shut down and then people go running and cry on forums about facebook had no right to shut them down..

ALL of facebook should be paid ... They will not make the fan pages paid and then let you do what you want, dream on there.. Would you let anybody do anything they want on your site ?? No!!

                James

P.S. It is really amazing how you see marketers say I am making a mint on this or that and then they expect everything for "Free" ....LOL!!!!!

Business cost money and you if you are not willing to put in the time and money then you will always have a short term income that will not last...

Facebook's gonna squash the fan pages thing I bet. You can hear the stampede of marketers rushing to make use of them. Get in now, cuz I'll bet ya pretty soon it won't work nearly as well.

Besides, James likes Facebook. Do you really need to know more to want it not to work?

hm....do you mean get rid of them completely, Zeus?....or just alter their functionality significantly?...

because there are TONS of brands that have Facebook fan pages that, I'm sure, would be in an uproar if their hundreds of thousands of fans were eliminated over night....

      Starbucks -- 6,143,000+ fans
Nascar -- 466,000+ fans (I'm actually surprised, that seems kind of low..lol)
      Oprah -- 1,000,000+ fans

      etc.....

I have been seeing more and more of my friend joining these fan pages for CPA offers. In fact just today I had three of my friends on my personal Facebook page join a fan page for $100 Victoria Secret's gift card. I didn't join the fan page but I could tell it was a CPA offer. I have seen several others for getting an iPad as well as other gift cards. Most of the time these fan pages have at least 1,000+ fans so facebook must not be doing that good of a job enforcing it. I wonder how much money people make off the CPA offers before Facebook shuts them down?

I also never join fan pages either but do take a look at them for research as well and have been coming across more and more of spammy looking ones everyday.

What they do not realize is by breaking the TOS of facebook the CPA network can withhold payment and even sue them for misuse of their CPA network.

I have seen CPA networks due this before just not with facebook.
