Youtube cc transcription beta! And a good laugh :-)

Youtube released a new feature for transcribing videos on screen...

Cool idea right?

Its a beta using Google's voice recognition technology which is one of the least accurate I have seen... it provides some good laughs

I noticed the option today when I was watching this video (notice the cc option in the player).

My first experience with Google's voice recognition transcription technology was with Google voice. A lady called my GV number and left a voice mail which google transcribed.

Unfortunately GV does not do well with Aussie accents so the message was quite comical. In fact even though it was a business message the voice to text translation was... well... colorful.

If my wife did not trust me I might be in trouble if she read it

Maybe some day Google will get it right but for now this "beta" transcription feature will provide you a good laugh on some videos :-)

That's funny. You'd think they would have polished it a more before adding the option.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

    "digital jesus Gore vidal"

Are these things going to become keywords? lol

Makes you wonder if you might start using a voice in all your videos....

I'm sure the music in the background doesn't help.

      yeah funny..

Works pretty good for the most part though

Reminds me of Google Voice's voicemail transcription.

LOL! My favourite parts were "Drug to learn how it works" and "lower degrees mean larger animals" :p It'll be a great feature once they get the kinks worked out, though!

    My favorites are:

"The but the right into these three cops here"

"I am also going to recommend securing five pounds"

    "You're selling with us."
Sounds like a drug transaction being set up :-)

And of course they follow not much longer after with this line:

"Drug to learn how it works"
    and this:

"incredibly strong it is but bottle way the most frightening religious right observers been on a product that."
And all that came out of a video about a camera dolly lol.

I use Google Voice too, and have 'gazed in wild wonder' at the transcriptions I get in my email box. But I'm doing my part and I send the transcriptions back to Google so they can improve their Voice Recognition system.
