Hi Guys,

So my video is in my laptop ready to be copied to my homepage but I don't know how to get it there!!!

I assume I will have to upload it somewhere to be able to attach it to my homepage but how do I do that??

Free hopefully!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Just upload it to YouTube and use their EMBED function so you can put it on your homepage. Otherwise use Dailymotion, they are ok as well.

If the video is under 10 mins, then you can upload it to youtube, otherwise you will have to try one of the 100's of other video sites on the net.

@Helen - as stated above just create an account at YouTube and upload it, not sure why you need an alternative as of yet but the second best site for videos (just my opinion) is Viddler.

    Good luck

      Thanks very much!

I need (want really) an alternative to you tube because once visitors have watched the video youtube offers links to other similar videos and I don't want that... I want people to stay on my homepage

@HelenS - you can turn that feature (showing related videos) off when you embed your video from YouTube.

I attached a pic showing you what to do...I apologize in advance for the scribbling

Youtube is a great way to do it. If you are using HTML you can also leave the video on your server and use something like:

      <EMBED width="352" height="240" src="Wildlife.swf" name="Wildlife.swf" loop="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></EMBED>

This is for a video file named Wildlife.swf.

Keep in mind you may get extra traffic from Youtube and/or Viddler.

In Wordpress go the the add post page. There is a button there to embed a video.

      Good luck,
      Steve

I would upload it to YouTube or Viddler and then grabe the embed code and put that in your site. This way not only do you get your video up there, you also get traffic from the video network. Your video looks good because it has had a lot of views so it will get ranks in the network well.

If your video is say 5 minutes long, put a tail on it that continues to play for a few more minutes that just displays your web address.

This can give the visitor the impression the video is over, and they will move on to read your content on the page.

In turn, it stalls the showing of the "related videos" from appearing and hopefully the visitor never sees that.

I would agree with doing both, always put a tail on your video (15 to 20 seconds) and make sure that features turned off.

    Cheers,
