Build your Business by setting GOALS!

Wouldn't it be great to own a successful business? Online, offline, retail, ebiz.. etc. All to often people decided that opening a busines would be a great idea to generate some extra money, work at it full time... or even retire due to the profits. Well this is the new American dream and thousands of people are successfully doing it right now!

The Question is... Why do so many people fail? Well the answer and the most important part aside from a business plan is setting GOALS for you and your business. Both short term goals and long term goals. People need to create a bluprint for their business so that each day you go to work you begin with the end in mind. You need to set yourself parameters so when you don't see results in the begining you keep pushing for that end result.

Here are examples of some goals... "I will write 2 articles everyday", "I will devote one hour of reading each day to improve my knowledge of online marketing", "I will help someone (giving) each day with their business by giving them my time and advice"...etc...

The following are some of my favorite goal setting quotes.

"Meeting a goal takes dedication, effort and sacrifice, and all that it takes to turn a goal into a dream is TIME." --Craig Lock

"Goals are new, forward-moving objectives. They magnetize you towards them." --Mark Victor Hansen

"Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe and enthusiastically act upon must inevitably come to pass." --Paul J. Meyer

"In the long run, men hit only what they aim at. Therefore, they had better aim at something high." --Henry David Thoreau

"If you go to work on your goals, your goals will go to work on you. If you go to work on your plan, your plan will go to work on you. Whatever good things we build end up building us." --Jim Rohn

Hope you enjoyed!

Setting short-term and long-term goals is a good idea. It's important to know what you would like to have accomplished, say, at the end of this month and this year.

I also set mini-deadlines for myself. At the end of this afternoon, for example, I will have written five articles. Come to think of it, setting mini-deadlines for each day can't hurt, either. Give them more power by writing them down and posting them near your computer. You're almost guaranteed to get results.

I can't agree more that we all need to establish our goals. Otherwise how will we know where we are going?

So set you goals and then a road map on how you expect to get there.

Follow your road map expecting to have to make detours along the way as you run into obstacles.

    You'll get there.

I found that it is important to set short term goals with great detail, medium term goals with adjustable facets, and long term goals with very flexible criteria. When I set stringent goals for long term plans it is frustrating as many factors can alter then plan and criteria.

Goal setting is HUGE HUGE HUGE...

Here is one my favorite quotes on it from Alice and Wonderland:

"Which road do I take?" (Alice)

"Where do you want to go?"

    "I don't know," Alice answered.

"Then, said the cat, it doesn't matter."

"If you don't know where you are going, any road will get you there." (Cheshire Cat movie quote, I believe)

    Cheers and to your goals

I agree with everything that has been said on here, it is so important to know what step you are taking next. You have to see the bigger picture and have an exact plan to what needs to be done next. Step by step, you will get closer to your bigger goal.

Goal setting is often talked about but how many of us do it regularly and actually keep to it? There's an old saying that goes "know where you come from and where you're going". Although we know our personal history and (hopefully) the history of our company, how clear are we about our goals?

It's very easy to amble along in our work and allow the future to unfold as it goes along, but when we make specific plans and measure our progress against them, chances are that we'll be able to make some magic happen.

Thanks for all your replies guys... I also want to add, when making your goals you should always keep them simply... never to complicated. Back in grade school I was taught the synonym KISS. Maybe some you remeber this synonym Keep it simply stupid.
