I've recently installed hostgator hosting on wordpress using fantastico from host gator.

I installed it a few days ago, but when trying to get to my dashboard the link appears to be broken.

Does anyone know how to check the status of your site through cpanel? Does it usually take more than 48 hours for your site to be activated?

Thanks to anyone that can help!

If you've installed WordPress correctly, activation is instant. I would suggest you go back and uninstall, then reinstall. Something is clearly wrong.

      Hi JEL0221,

Have you installed Wordpress on a new domain? Maybe the DNS hasn't propagated yet. Yes, it can take up to 48 hours to propagate, but in my experience it usually doesn't take that long. My sites usually propagate in a couple a hours at most.

If it's not a new domain or if it's been longer than that, maybe something went wrong with the installation? You can check that on Fantastico.

Login to cPanel > click the Fantastico icon under Software/Services (just like you did when your first installed) and check the "Wordpress" table where it reads "Location > Installed Version> Upgrade Link".

If it reads something like "Installed Version: unknown" and "Only manual upgrade possible", that's because there's something wrong. You can try deleting the blog and installing again, or contact your host support.

      Hope it helps...

This is installed on a new domain, so propagating might be the problem. In the past it has taken me usually about a day to propagate, but I didn't know if it sometimes might have taken longer.

It has never taken that long for me either, but it is possible. I guess it also seems to depend on your registrar. I usually register my domains at godaddy or namecheap. Where did you register yours?

I`ve had something similar a few months ago. You need to reinstall Wordpress - according to my hosting accord support guys, "that happens sometimes".

For the status, I use Google Analytics, but for cPanel stats you need to activate it at first, only then you`ll be able to see the data.

Did you install WP in the root directory or in a subdirectory? First thing is just to make sure you're checking the right URL for your blog.

You can go back into cPanel/Fantastico/Wordpress and it will show you your current wordpress installations and locations. You also have the option there to 'visit site' - so through that direct link, you can check your installation.

If you don't see what you expect, you may have to reinstall. Be sure to click the 'finish' link toward the end of the process to complete the installation.

If you still are having trouble, get into live chat with hostgator. They've got great support, very responsive.

    Cheers,

    Kat
