A Dump Question For First Class EZA Experts!

How you actually reward your article with the "most viewed" honor badge?

Upon checking the most viewed articles in many niches, I noticed that:

-Most of them are not heavily backlinked..I used to think that backlinks are what gives an article the extreme push, however, this believe is now in a big doubt..

-Most of them are not magical pieces of art, just a bit of useful information decently written.

Now, my question for EZA experts..

What actually puts an article on the top of an EZA category?

Keyword targeting? I think most articles are keyword optimized, however, some of them get pathetic level of views, while others rack thousands of views in a short time!

I like to hear from EZA experts..

OK, first you have to meet the minimum word count for that category. It used to be the site wide 250 min but that has been raised to 450 to get into the most viewed section.

As for getting your article in their.

Well, you need more views than the other articles. That could be 50 or 5000.

You obviously can get more traffic naturally or there are some sneaky tricks to get there. There was, or is, a WSO which tells you one method. I have used another method for a while but it turns out to be pretty much the same.

Basically you need to buy readers from some paid to click site but you need to hide your tracks....

If you are technical this should be easy enough to figure out. I won't go into more detail here because that wouldn't be fair to the guy selling the WSO.

Keep in mind that buying readers is a dirty tactic really.

Nicer ways are through good keyword research, sending traffic from forums, blogs, videos, SEO and all the usual stuff.

I believe the cut off is 400 words. I have quite a few articles that are more than 400 but less than 450 that are currently on the most viewed list in a number of different categories.

Well, Nikki, if I got you correctly, you are suggesting to follow what I call the "Sony Model"

I believe Sony was the first to use this model (maybe I'll tell the story in another thread), but it boils down to paying some people to act like legitimate viewers, give EZA the numbers they want, and make an impression that my article is read and been enjoyed by many people, then they decide to put it in the most viewed section, that's when it starts to get loads of "real" views..

      Is that correct?

The reason I needed to use PTC sites for traffic rather than traffic exchanges etc is that EA seemed to break the frames that these sites use so they wouldn't work. Many PTC sites will let you use a frame breaking site on a zero second timer.

Also you can use traffic exchanges and PTC sites to get your YouTube videos some massive views....if you wanted to...the potential is greater than jsut using it on EA.

Nikki or anyone else...what does this mean, could you explain traffic exchanges and what are PTC sites?

      Many thanks!

Well to be correct I'm not really suggsting you do that because that is a judgement call but that is a method that many EA marketers use.

It is all a numbers game to get in there and you can either do it the good guy way or the sneaky way.

But that is the tactic, being in the most viewed section increases the "real" views.

In some niches though you will be engaging in an arms race to maintain a top 5 position.

PTC - Paid To Click, a service where you buy visitors (they are paid to click on a link) there are a lot of places selling this sort of traffic.

Traffic exchanges are sites where you can trade site visits (or buy some). Basically you visit other people's websites to earn credits. These credits are then used to get visitors to your own site.

Both are pretty low quality traffic but you can get big volume - like thousands of visitors per day for either no money or a couple of US dollars.

Donkey Mails is an example PTC vendor.
Traffic Swarm is an example traffic exchange.

In order to get your article eligible to appear in the most viewed section it has to be a minimum of 400 words.

On a side note, you should now start writing articles that are at least 400 words in length because it also allows you to have 5 words in your anchor text.

In order to get massive amouunts of article views in a short amount of time you focus on using the best long tail keyword phrases that also receive plenty of searches.

However, there is a bit more to it then just using a good phrase in your article title that attracts the search engine spiders and the curiosity of human visitors.

To maximize your page views you could (should) at a minimum do the following:

1- Send out a tweet on Twitter announcing your new article (can be done more then once)

2 - Email your list notifying them about your new article making sure to provide them a link to go and view the article.

3 - Post on facebook your new article with a link back to it (can be done more then once).

4 - Encourage people to sign up for an EZA Email Alert, Specifically this one - Newly Published Articles by their Chosen Author. Their chosen author should be you and this will alert them whenever you publish a new article for them to view.

5 - Make use of an EzineArticles Widget on your site or blog. This will showcase yoru articles and drive trafrfic from your site to your articles.

6 - Make use of your EzineArticles RSS feed.

7 - Tweet your EzineArticles Expert Author URL

One final tip that I did not come up with but found while conducting my weekly research on EZA:

Be sure to use Google insights for search. Once there, type in the search words that your target market searches for. and once the results come up, you'll see something called rising searches in the lower right hand side of the results. You might also see something named "breakout" in the column.

These are searches that are very hot! Use them as the keywords in your article titles and watch the clicks roll in.

      Hope this helps

      Respectfully,
      Tim

I mention YouTube mostly to show that this strategy is used beyond Ezine Articles but the answer is yes.

YouTube has a currently viewed section so perhaps you'd show up there. When you are browsing the videos on YouTube you can sort each category by most viewed which may even be the default.

So today for example I go to browse the videos and click on the gaming category and I might be able to get on that first page with only 5000 views.

How many gamers go to YouTube and browse that way I don't know but there may be other benefits too. For example the way they link internally might make your video more likely to show up in the "related videos" pane....just specualtion.
