Top FIVE warriors list!

by David_Thompson

If you had a chance to sit down one-on-one for an hour each
with 5 warriors member who would you select?

Look at it as 5 hours of mentorship, who would like to talk?

    In no particular order:

    Allen Says
    John Taylor
    Andy Henry
    BigMike
    Steven Wagenheim

There are many more, but these are the 5 that spring to mind.

I also think that the above would make for a very interesting "cage match" if they were all in the same room together

      Steven Wagenheim (for articles)
      Josh Anderson (for video)
John Reese (for marketing a product)
      ??

There are so many others who could take that last spot....hard to decide.

Please, I weigh 120 pounds soaking wet.

What would I do, throw a book of articles at them?

          Steve,

could be your secret weapon - a day's worth of articles would probably fill a phone book anyway.

I'd still have to carry 4 of them to knock each of these guys out and I
only have 2 hands. And a book of my articles weighs almost as much as I
do, so that's not an option.

            I need something simpler.

      OK,

Allen would win the cigar smoking round
I'd claim the scotch drinking championship
Andy would definitely clean up in the talking hind leg off a donkey contest
BigMike would win the beer drinking round

      and..

Steven would win the wrestling with article topics competition

    Thats easy

    Allen Says
    Paul Myers
    Andrew Cavanagh
    Willie Crawford
John Taylor and Andy Henry (They're a team so they count as one)

    Why? Because I say so.

Truth is, there are WAY TOO MANY brilliant people here and to choose just
5 of them is almost impossible to do.

I could easily make another list like this one:

    John Reese
    Mike Filsaime
    Eric Louviere
    Kevin Riley
    Travis Sago

    Or this one:

    Frank Kern
    Jason Moffatt
    Bev Clement
    Judy Kettenhoffen
    Sam Stephens

The lists could go on and on. Any of these groups of people could literally
take your business to the next level. That's how bright they are.

So don't knock your brains out trying to find the "best" list because any
group of folks here can make a huge difference and that's without even
    having to think about it.

    Interesting question.

My thanks to those people who have already
included my name in their list. But why haven't
    you asked for a chat?

    Anyway, my list:

Allen Says - although I've already learned such a lot from him.
Bryan Kumar - we have plans to chat but haven't got around to it yet.
Gary Ambrose - because I'm currently interested in improving my list building
Patrick Pretty - I want to pick his journalistic brains.
Robert Plank - another rising star with some innovative ideas.

I often talk to myself, but that's another story!

While I agree with previous posts, taking a different angle, I would equally enjoy sitting down with some new but highly driven people to discuss what's possible and how they can achieve it in practical terms.

          Neil,

Nicely put, I had a similar thought when considering my
          own choices.

There are a lot of people who are relatively new to the
forum but clearly have a lot of talent, experience and
          determination.

Look at it as 5 hours of mentorship, who would like to talk?
If it's mentorship, that would depend on what I wanted to improve.

I've spoken with an awful lot of the folks in this group, so I don't think it would be wise to start listing names. Still, it's an interesting thought. For those of you who do have strong preferences on the issue, you might try actually contacting the folks you mentioned. A fair number of them are open to it.

Thinking about this a bit more, the most challenging part of this question is how to get the most out of an hour with anyone.

I've contacted plenty of Warriors including, but not exclusively, so-called 'big names' with specific questions and without exception have received a positive response. But I wouldn't want to waste the time on asking about technical issues, stuff that could be found elsewhere. I'd want to know more about their motivators, their way of thinking - I think I'd rather spend the time modelling their attitude and mindset than quizzing them about the workings of their business.

That's smart thinking. But, you could also benefit

I don't see one single person already mentioned I would exclude. Over the past couple years its been my privilege communicate personally with several of the afore mentioned marketers. I've learned from all.

Of equal or greater importance I've purchased books and reports from several of them and have benefited greatly by doing so. A conversation may last for several minutes or and hour. A book is forever.

The information they have collectively given away via their newsletters, blog posts and particularly their WF posts (search the "old forum") would fill volumes.

While some of them are a bit more accessible than others, only one of them is really, really grouchy!

Having just gotten off the phone (obviously in the dead of afternoon in the eastern US) with the alluded to before mentioned marketer I would like to state that he was no more or less grouchy than at any time in the past I've spoken with him.

If I can get where I want to be, then I'll throw a party to celebrate and you're ALL invited, every single one of you. It might take some time to get a big enough back-yard, but when I do, it's ON!

Thankyou ALL for making this place what it is - unique. I don't want five warriors, I want it ALL. Anyone who has found their way here can find what they need to help them succeed - on whatever level that success is to be found.
I'm just honoured that someone who has spent hours chatting to me about IM stuff is on so many people's lists!

                    I've gone all shy now!

I have talked to a fair few people on here- but two people I would like to sit down face to face and talk to are Allen and Paul Myers.

I know you guys are all into virtual stuff- but I'd love to catch the expressions and dynamics of those two men and read thier expressions as they talk- and I'd just let them chat-rather than ask them anything specific.

But then that's how I do all my interviews so I guess there is no surprises there!

            David,
Paul even a man with your experience I'm sure there's a couple people here on this forum you wouldn't mind just sitting down and talk too because what they are doing peak your interest?
Absolutely. A ton of them. Any list I could make would just be 5 people picked at random from at least 50, and probably closer to 100.

Let's choose one of my favorite topics: Perspective and the ability to see things clearly and from a lot of different angles. I'm talking about really "getting" the other side, or the new vision. For that specific topic, and in no particular order:

            Roger Davis
            Andy Henry
            Peter Bestel
            Jeff Walker
            Marlon Sanders

There are a lot of other people who could be on that list. (If you're not there, don't be insulted.) And there are a lot of people who think they're good at seeing the other side, or the new or unusual point of view, who are blind to them.

Give me a different topic and I'll give you a different list, with the same disclaimers and caveats.

        OK...

So I'll go against the grain here... I would pick these 5 people for a general mastermind.. me being the master /jk:

        David_Thompson
        ExRat
        That Gadget Dude (Tommy)
Ivana (she's in here somewhere under some other name)
        Nico52

        We'd have a riot.....

To any warriors on my list... let's make it happen....

    Interesting thread, great idea.

    (1) ExRat - down to earth, sound advice always given from this particular Warrior (for many years now)

    (2) Ross Goldberg - he's not around much anymore but he strikes me as a very individual character and has a fascinating story to tell

    (3) Steve 'Waggo' Wagenheim - often controversial, never boring. Has anyone met him face-to-face yet?

    (4) davebo - I read his comments and they often make me laugh

    (5) [not naming the last one] - Number 5 got banned trying to game the Review section after his product had 5 pages of negative reviews. Some will know who I mean - I just wanna chat to him for an hour to find out why he has such a poor attitude towards his customers

In all honesty I would stick with my mastermind that I have right now... and I think they are all Warriors even if they don't all post a lot.

It is not that I wouldn't like to chat with some of the people named, it is just that I ALREADY know how much I get out of talking to my current mastermind, and it is a TON.

So, to clarify, my list is:

    - Travis Sago
    - Ryan Moran
    - Amir Darwish
    - Justin Brooke
    - Brian Owens

Paul's post gets right to the heart of the matter.

Depending on information, advice or type of camaraderie needed you may need more or less than five Warriors.

        All have different skill sets.

If I had a question regarding email marketing I would ask on person; about scripts someone else and for article writing or copywriting a couple other people.

In all cases I would look for folks whose skills and abilities complement mine.

        No grouches need apply.

You vote me your FAVORITE WARRIOR POSTER OF ALL TIME....AND NOW YOU'SE FLIP FLOP???

The record is clear....and you can't escape it.

Just cuz your endorsement of me led to record low sales for you...cost you your car, marriage, and respect of your peers----doesn't mean you can hide from your record in the witching hour here...like some ostrich with his beak stuck in a sand dune! Shame!

Anyway...to the cool Warriors out there who put me on their lists..thanks. Your careers have effectively been killed....but I truly appreciate the thought. You have guts at least, which is more then Wags can say. lol.

Way too many good Warriors for Vinnie here to get trapped into mentioning......cuz the one I leave off..might be the single rich female I marry some day. So I'll play it safe for once.

Vince, I bow my head in shame. Yes, you are my fav Warrior poster, but
if I copied your business model, with my luck, I'd end up in Sing Sing
sharing a bunk with a guy named Bubba.

Yes, I'm gutless. That's what being 120 pounds soaking wet will do to a
        guy.

I have no defense other than I'm a coward. Besides, if I'm gonna spend
an hour with you, it ain't gonna be talkin business. It's gonna be gettin
to know some of those hot chicks you have smothering you.

And what good can THAT do for my business, forget about how it'll have
my wife packing her bags and leaving me with a Honda CRV and what will
be left of my bank account after she opens it.

Yes, I am a coward. I humbly admit it and ask for your forgiveness for
        being such a wuss.

My choice would be Rich Schefren as hes the man that has consulted with quite a few marketers (and warriors) now positioned well in their market.

He teaches how to build an actuall long-term business something that is pretty much overlooked by most marketers.

There are two many too choose from, but from my personal experience here are my favorite marketers I have learned the most from:

                      Jimmy D. Brown
                      Jeff Johnson
                      Stephen Pierce

It depends very heavily on what skills you already have, how much effort you want to put in, what physical resources you have know and how much money you want to make.

If you can write, you have very little cash (or you don't want to spend any) and you want to work your arse off to make a six figure income fairly quickly it's hard to go past Steven Wagenheim.

But if English is your second language and you can't write worth squat you should probably seek out a different mentor...someone in an internet marketing field where writing isn't important.

That's the real power of this forum.

There are experts in EVERY area and it's not hard to work out who they are.

If you were going to make a list it would be even more valuable if you put on that list their area of expertise.

                        Kindest regards,

My friends, this is the best advice you're going to get. Not everything
or everyone is for every marketer.

Trying to emulate a business model of somebody who has a staff of 20
people working for him is not going to help you much if you don't have
two nickels to rub together and absolutely have to start out doing things
                          on your own.

Conversely, if you've already got the money but just don't know what to
do with it, sitting down with somebody like Mike Filsaime or Frank Kern
will probably be a good idea.

So picking the people who are best for you is what's important.

There are a lot of Warriors I would like to meet..too many to list and really hard to whittle it down to just five...but if I have to name just five they would be:

                              1. Kurt Melvin....boom, boom, boom...smart man

                              2. Paul Myers...only newsletter that I always look forward to....again a very smart man

                              3. Kevin Riley....love his sense of humour, plus he knows his stuff.

                              4. Chris Rempel...good Canadian boy from my formally home town of Kelowna...again another who knows what he is doing.

and number 5.....wait for it...Chris Lockwood...there is something about Chris and the way he thinks that really resonates with me.

                              Regards, Dave

Well thank you Tommy! Glad to see my name on the list.

But pride aside, I've only been in Internet Marketing and working online for 4 months, there are some warriors here that are far more experienced than I am.

By the way David, pretty hard to spill the beans in 1 hour, in my coaching sessions that's what it takes me to explain HALF a step of 1 single method.

It's taken me days of re-reading this to even dare reply, but the disclaimer is that I never really exclude anyone anyway. I'm open minded that way.

That said, let's fancy a go at this potentially career suicide list for those I don't list.

Robert Plank: If I had that many ideas that made me a profit--while having a day job, I think I'd need a change of clothes.

Paul Myers: Everyone wants to get in the man's head, it's like he writes everything I think--but WAY cooler. Must learn how to do that.

Steven Wagenheim: If I could write as much, as fast as you...not only would I have no life, but a lot more of that green stuff--um whoops, I meant a bank balance.

Rod Cortez: This choice is sneaky in that I barely know anything about him except the positive attitude I need to emulate more of that I've read in other posts. Plus a few more things.

Allen Says (Admin): Not for brownie points or anything, just because I literally watched the birth of this place around the time I got out of the military and wonder what I can do differently that would make the difference in the online world for me. I think I was one of his first customers for cryin' out loud.

For those of you not on this list, I seriously am open to meeting and picking the brains out of each other almost anytime. It's just that my posts are usually too long anyway and that one would be a BIG one.

              Peace,

              Jay

PS: Those are in no particular order at all. I've been up all night with sick kids.

Well there are many talented Marketers in this Forum, but I couldn't just pick out a few.
It really depends upon how you are feeling at the moment. Some days I may listen to one,
other days a may listen to another. How I feel changes from day to day.

What I have found in my experiences is that some people are good at different things.
And I'm no exception! I try to work on what I think I'm good at. I like to talk so my social
Skills are above par (at least I think so)

Some IM can explain Article Marketing so that it is clear to me. Some can't. Then there is traffic, conversation,
and the increase transactions etc, I'm sure something was missed.

I would never name names, because as soon as I did a new one would pop-up.

As for me, I would rather make a list of 25 (from most of those already mentioned) and schedule 5 meetings for each group (without letting them know of the other existing four groups)

And then let them crack their brains for me while I build my business.

Seriously, I have had the opportunity of owning products from some of those mentioned here, especially those on this forum. At any one point in my IM career (which is still very young) I have used ideas shared by one or more of them; and I have never regretted it.

Maybe since it may not be realistic to have all of these people mentioned sitting with you (at least in the short run) to help you build your business, why not just:
    • Read their books
    • Join their membership sites
    • Pay attention to their forum and blog posts
    • Watch and learn how they develop, launch and manage their products and business
    • And of course, read their newsletters. You will know how they promote, why they promote and what they offer their customers and prospects.
I think this may be a guaranteed way of succeeding like they did. "He who associates himself with those who have attained felicity will himself attain felicity," goes an old line in a classic book of wisdom.

Finally, there's someone who doesn't mind sitting down with me for at least an hour. Though I wonder what I can tell you in under an hour...

I've been behind the scenes for some time now. This is a tough question to answer...as everyone here has something to offer that is of value. Period.

Here's my list for kicks, in no particular order:

Travis Sago - Love how you lay it down.
Chris Rempel - Awesome mind here, much respect.
ExRat - This guy really impresses me. I want him to mentor me.
Vegas Vince - Oh man, love your style.
erm...ExRat again (or Frank Kern, John Reese...)

Although there are a lot of other people I would like to interview too.. TYhe fact is that there are a lot of people that really are marketing genmiuses and I could learn something from everyone as loing as it fits with my basic rule... Work less and earn more.

While I'd love to talk marketing with the likes of John Reese, Frank Kern, Allen Says, Jeff Walker, Rich Schefren, Jim Edwards, Perry Marshall, Dr. Ken Envoy, Marlon Sanders, Yanik Silver, and a whole host of others, I've already learned enough from these people. And with all I've learned from them as well as the direct mail legends, I don't see a real need to spend any more "mentorship" time learning marketing. Not when all I would have is an hour with each. Because, the most I could hope for is their insight on their creative twists on basic marketing principles. And I don't feel I'd be able to get much of that in only 1 hour with each.

Now, if I had a 5 hour "mastermind" session with all 5 preset at once, I'd probably have to spend a week carefully choosing my 5.

But if I were simply looking for 5 hours of mentorship from Warriors (1 hour each with 5), I'd turn to those who had technical abilities that I desired. Either to better my own abilities or so I'd be able to better select, hire, & monitor outsourcers.

      Therefore, I'd choose...
      1. Robert Plank -- PHP
      2. Karl Warren -- Graphics
      3. Josh Anderson -- Video
      4. Tiffany Dow or Bev Clement -- Research & Writing
      5. Kevin Riley -- Product Research & Creation

There are so many that I thank, but here are my top 5:

    1) Daniel Molano for offering exception value and knowledge
    2) The Rhodes Brothers for always coming up with great ideas
    3) Big Mike for offering wonderful products at great prices
    4) Rod Cortez for getting me started on the right track, and of course
    5) Allen Says for being the man who makes this all possible.

That's kind of like asking "If you could have a free Ferrari, which one would it be?" but about 20 times as difficult.
Probably (And I'm leaving out at least 20 people here)
    John Reese
    Chris Rempel
    Frank Kern

I've already sat down with most of my top 5 offline already over a meal or a drink at some point.

The only guy who would be in my top 5 and that I haven't ever really met or done anything with online is:

    Paul Myers.

There's too many to mention. Depends on what field you'd like to venture into. If you're into article marketing, choose Steven Wagenheim. If copywriting, choose Michel Fortin.

I can't think, at this moment, I would need anyone else for a while. Both of these guys have the qualities needed to mentor someone to set up a mature, progressive and lasting business. Their speed of implementation is nothing short of awesome and their breadth of ideas inspiring.

Willie, for example, is able to make a business opportunity out of seemingly nothing. And not becauuse of a cheap sales pitch but by a variety of methods including actually recognising an opportunity when it presents itself and making an opportunity out of virtually nothing. Awesome.
