Cost to Outsource Articles?

I have never outsourced article writing before. Approximately how much would it cost to outsource 10-15 sports related articles? And where are some good places to start looking for good writers?

Normally people will charge $1 for 100 words. This is the reasonable price for both. Don't go more than this.

The cost varies enormously, according to the type of articles you want, which in turn depends on the purpose to which you intend to put them.

If you want something that's "re-written PLR" in not-too-good English, it'll be very cheap, but these are articles to be used for backlinking purposes only - they can't possibly attract and qualify potential buyers.

If you want high quality, original content which will genuinely inform, entertain and qualify buyers as well as achieving widespread re-publication from article directories in front of targeted audiences, that's very much more expensive, as you'd expect from the fact that it's a service not nearly so widely available. There are many marketers paying their article writers well in excess of $50 per article, and returning frequently for more. (Just in case anyone misunderstands my motivation for posting here, please excuse my mentioning that I'm not taking on new clients at the moment: no exceptions).

Go get 'em Alexa. Well said. I must say that I have been fortunate in that I have someone that has been writing high quality articles for me for a long time. She only charges $6 for 300 word articles. I hope I never lose her.

You'll find different rates. You may find some as low as $2 and you'll find some as high as $15. It all depends, just make sure you're getting decent articles and not junk.

We offer article writing, spinning & submission packages so the whole thing is taken care of for you ; )

There are people writing articles here in the services section. There is also freelancer.com, odesk.com and craigslist. Again, the price depends on length, and time taken to do research, etc.

    Depends on the writer.

I would say just go to the Warrior for Hire section and look at the author's prices and maybe PM them and make a deal about something.

Also please be very careful when you outsourcing article writing.. many freelance websites are multinational, the freelancers come from all over the world.. so it is a good idea to let your article written by native English speakers from US, UK , Canada etc

I can recommend Carla Dewing: Carla Dewing - LinkedIn

Not the cheapest ($20 per article or $25 to include keyword research) but the articles are very good quality.

It all depends on the quality of the article you are expecting. I have hired good article writers from scriptlance as well as getafreelancer. I can assure you that the more you are willing to pay the better quality you will find. I can recommend you someone. Just send me a PM if you are interested. She writes very well, she is American and has good prices, considering the high quality of her articles.

outsourcing is good but also proceed with caution as I have heard many nightmares from it. A good idea is always have them write 1 article to test them out and have a feel of their writing style.
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[1861460].message }}
  • A lot depends on the originality and insight that you expect from the articles. For instance, you're asking about sport writing. I might be able to run off 500 general words on baseball, but if you were to want me to find out about a particular team or player that might involve a lot of work to write sensible output.

As an example, how many people could really explain the offside rule for soccer (and it pains me to write soccer instead of football). Even a lot of soccer fans couldn't do so.

So, it can sometimes be worth finding people with experience and knowledge of a particular sport and activity, as opposed to getting people who can research information but have no real insight or interest.

I have awesome article writing outsourced and I usually pay about 50 cents for every 100 words or so. Well worth it, it is such a hassle for me to have to write every single day when I could be doing something else.

Most people are on target with this. Most average writers should run you about a penny a word.

Better articles and articles that require more research should run you about double that. If you need some examples of what a .03 per word article looks like and what a .01 per word article looks like, I'll show you.

I am apparently paying too much to have my articles written. I use textbroker.com and I pay about $8 for a 500 word article. I HATE writing content so I considered this a great value. I have been very pleased with the quality of the writing.

I've had very mixed luck. For $3 for 300 words I often need to rewrite just about everything, sometimes find plagiarism, and the word "Moreover" used a lot Non English speakers usually. Then again, I'm not a native English speaker either.

You usually DO get what you pay for here.

Well it really depends on your budget and also the quality you want.

I'm a great believer in you get what you pay for...

If you're looking for a cheap price, check out the Warrior Forum classifies, you're soon be overwhelmed with everyone selling their services!

If you're looking for high quality, avoid it and get a copywriter who will charge you around $25 per article.

Remember, it depends what the article is for, if its to help you with SEO etc. it's worth paying slightly less. If it's to be used as an expert article, or perhaps for press, I would invest in paying for a profession copywriter.

There is nothing wrong with going for cheap, or expensive, just think about the purpose of the article and go from there.

Regardless of who you go for, check out their testimonials and see if you can get some samples etc. Also re your subject, if they specialise in your field will be easier for you.

    Best of luck.

And I'm not suggesting that higher-priced writers should charge less...but do I think they're trying to compete in an area that is saturated with the $5 an article writers. And you're competing in an area where the customer base is primarily made up of folks with limited budgets who need to get as many pages of content as they can for the lowest price.

And I'll repeat that they charge less because they don't have the same cost of living that you do. The cost has nothing to do with quality.

        Just saying...
Big Mike nailed it: cheaper is not necessarily worser, when it comes to article writers! Seriously, in this arena (IM), articles do not have to be great works of art. They have to do what you need: get found, get read and get the reader to take action.

Having said that, I know for a fact that research-intensive content, Web page content and the like can command a much greater price than a 400 word summary article on a given topic.

The best way to determine the cheapest/best source of outsourcing article content is through referrals. Ask your colleagues to recommend writers they've actually used.

My only advice in regards to outsourcing is to start small and go from there. Pay for an article or two to start and then order larger amounts. To me, that's the only way to have any control over the quality of articles you are paying for.

Best of luck! I'd hire someone from this forum if I was in your position.

  • You can find writers that write excellent content for $1.00, but those are few and far between. The 'average' price for finding a 'decent' writer (but you still need to check for plagirism, etc) nowadays tends to be $5.00-$10.00 US/ for 500-word 'semi'-researched article.

I have paid as much as $10 for articles to be written and I see little difference in the $3-$10 range. The higher range writers provided additional service and comment follow up and some other value add for my blogs in the past but I agree with a lot of people here that I would not pay more then $3 for 300 words in an articles directory. I would not pay more then $7 for the highest quality on a blog.

Oh and before everyone hits me up to get $20 an article be prepared to spend 3-5 hours of research - provide original artwork and exceptional writing. Oh and make sure that your average blog post get 10+ comments ... Still interested PM me !

You can hire writers from Onlinjobs.ph - their rate is usually $300 per month. You can let them write 5-8 (500 words) articles per day.
Look for someone to hire that can do other stuff as well that can help you aside from article writing. Maybe do submissions, rewrites, seo, blog commenting.. etc.

It depends on the job of the article and therefore the quality you require.

I'm a fan of quality articles. The price does range. From $2 - $10 has been my experience for about 500 words. And it is volume dependent - the more articles in bulk - the cheaper it will be.

Once you get a good writer keep them. They are like gold

Also - the result is always only as good as the brief you give them. So make sure you are clear on what you want and take the time to brief them properly.

On such things as: how many times you want the keyword phrase, that you want it in the first and last paragraph. How long you want the paragraphs (how many sentences max). The tone of the articles. The 'voice' it's in. That they MUST be original etc I'd also recommend that you check that they Copyscape them and do that yourself as your check.

The premium service is super cheap - $10 for 200 checks - and you just copy and paste the article in question into it.

This is so you can be sure it's original content.

      Caro :-)

While I haven't used this method nor do I recommend it, but I know a lot of IMers will outsource to the Phillipines as they often will write articles for around $2-$5 each, or something like that. I think if you ask for samples and make sure they are good you can probably get this done for a decent rate.

Again, I've heard of this being done I cannot really comment on the quality. Hope that helps.
