WARNING About Backlink Services Spamvertising

If Host Gator establishes a policy of deactivating accounts that get reported for "spamvertising" then they're opening the doors for a lot of foul play.

I think it's only a matter of time before search engines like google discount links from blogs and forums. Yes, that could happen.

I see people advertise "hire me to create backlinks to your site" and wonder how many would bite if the ad read "let me spam forums and blogs for you".

The original method was to participate in forums and offer good comments on blogs - but now the goal is to slap as many links on other people's sites as you can without contributing anything worthwhile.

Many hiring these services have not stopped to think about what they are doing or how the links are being created. That warning is a scary wakeup call.

All you have to do is spamvertise your competitor's site.

In reality, many are too busy spamvertising their own sites to worry about others.

Not all.
Some have actually build blog empires and 2.0 empires that they use to weave back-links into. Like any service, you just need to be careful who you deal with and get as much information as to their 'protocol' as you would your doctor if you had a condition. In other words, even outsourcing you have to do the due diligence. Especially as it is your rep on the line. Good luck with Host gator.

SPAMvertising is one of the easiest way to build links and get SEO ranking higher, that's why it's caught on so fast and furious lately. The only problem I have with it is that you're trying to trick Google.

The whole point of the link-juice type ranking system Google has is to rank the sites that actually have good content higher in the serps. 'Good' content meaning that other people have read it and liked it, and therefore linked to it.

I tried this for awhile, but I couldn't help feeling unethical about it, especially when I would come to websites that have disabled registration because of all the SPAMvertising they are getting.

I'm definitely not in the place to pass judgement on anyone else that does it, but for me, it's not how I want to build my business. One of my main goals as a marketer and person in general is to be "above reproach." For my business, creating accounts and putting links to my stuff doesn't keep me above reproach.

I'd much rather find those quality sites to connect with and leave a pithy Comment vs. hand-off (outsource) to a 3rd party who could care less of the consequences of leaving a Spamvertised message. This is one of the reasons I bought the Market Samurai tool and they've got a nice video series on how to find these quality high ranking sites. Every week or so, I send a new crop of such sites to my readers. I've included a recent example of 15 such sites that you might find useful if social media is part and parcel of your marketing mix.

Exactly ... people should do more research and planning instead of jumping on the next and greatest WSO / Website Launch that pops up because they think they can make a quick buck with their crappy service...

I agree l think it depends on the credibility of the firm who do the work and what standards they have in order.They tell you to do it slowly and methodically and screen their quality of backlinks and relativity.

Well. It is true who you will deal with. Make sure you ask them questions on how would they do their links but of course sometimes you still may got wrong people or under qualified individuals

What was the e-mail that they sent? I would be interested in reading that...

And was it sent because your site was 'e-mail' blasted, or simply 'linked' in other websites?

It is to easy to say that they cant do that because a competitor could ruin your business. That is why they sent the email.

I myself lost a Squidoo lens due to forum profile backlinking. The owner had sent an email to Squidoo, and they deleted my lens. I have also seen websites mentioning these methods of trickery in their terms.

I still use the method to a certian extent, but I perfer article marketing and other forms of traffic generation for SEO.

I have enough history in this game to know that this method will be eliminated as a way to increase ranking in a relatively short amount of time.

So google does not like it, and your host does not like it. Be carefull.

At least you got the mail ahead of time. Host Gator has a reputation for shutting down sites without giving enough notice to the owners of the site.

Guilty until proven innocent.

Host Gator is a very average host.
