Selling a domain using rewritten PLR acceptable?

I don't usually sell my websites, soI am curious. As long as the domain
is making money and that is what you are basing the price on, would
people have a problem with the fact that the articles are from PLR
articles?

This domain has PLR articles that I authored, so I changed them up
a bit and added some reviews. I want to sell it, but need to know
how the market thinks.

Thanks,

Jeannie

  • Jeannie, that's quite acceptable, so long as you make it clear that the articles on the site are PLR (essentially what you told everyone in the message). If you look on places like Flippa there are plenty of sites being sold with non-original content and they can still see for substantial amounts.

Yes that's perfectly alright, as long as the site is making some revenue, people don't care. It's all about how you present yourself. On the other hand, some of the buyers out there are very keen on having original content on their sites. You'll have to test it out to see what kind of response you get.

My suggestion would be to at least make the articles 50 - 60% original, if not whole. Or if you can, you can outsource and have them rewritten. Search engines love original content and that's one of the reasons why you should aim for it. Overall, like I said, you will still find buyers who won't care about the content as long as the site makes some moolah and gets decent traffic.

    All the best!

Yes I agree so long as you make it clear it is PLR.

It is acceptable. As others have said, you have to make this point (they are PLR) clear to your prospective buyers. If it is a new site without or with little income, many would want unique content instead.

I write PLR articles, and from what my mentors have taught me once you change up a PLR article, it isn't "duplicate" anymore. Is it completely unique? No. But if you tell prospective buyers that the content has been rewritten from PLR articles, I think that would get the point across just fine.

It seems to me that if a site was making decent money with rewritten PLR content, it would be well worth buying it and giving it unique content after the fact.

Or you could just charge extra if they insist on uniqueness!

If I understood you right, you were the original author of this PLR material, and you rewrote it somewhat to use for your own site. As most have stated here, I don't see anything wrong with this at all. And as you rewrote it, I am not sure that you need mention that it derives from PLR.

There is a thread in the WSO forum that is selling a course to teach you how to do just that. Not sure if it is exactly the same as what you are doing, but it sounds very similar. If you, or anyone is interested, check it out at http://www.warriorforum.com/warrior-...-required.html
