Help With Wordpress Niche Site!

INTERNET MARKETING

Hello everyone, this is my first post here and I'm excited to be involved! I'm pretty much a newbie even though I've made some sales with Squidoo and Amazon... From what I understand it is important to control some online real estate of your own, so Ive been working on a niche wordpress site.... I really don't know what I'm doing and I was wondering if I could get a few tips on

1. What are the best plugins to optimize a niche blog
2. What's the best way to generate traffic to a niche blog

I will probably have about 50-75 posts on this site

Any help would be awesome!! Thanks a lot!

The best plugins are those that help you accomplish your goals.

The best way to generate traffic is to do marketing research so you know who your customer is and where they go online... then get yourself in front of them and convince them to buy.

Let me ask you a question about traffic.

If you have a lemonade stand on the side of the road and 1,000 cars an hour drive buy and no one stops to by Lemonade do you:

A. Move to a spot where 2,000 cars and hour drive by
B. Figure out why they are not stopping and buying

  I would assume that you figure out why they aren't stopping... More traffic wont exactly mean more sales unless you understand your customer and how to be successful with the traffic you are getting....
  
  I'd rather have a lemonade stand near 100 thirsty buyers then one near 1,000 people than never pay you any attention.

Hi Dennis
check out michelfortin.com, his blog site and search for plugins. He has a great list to start with. also duct Tape marketing, John Janstch, usually talks about cool plugins.
If you are going to add video, there are a few youtube embed plugins that work, depending on your wordpress version. Remember, you must have wordpress downloaded to a server, yours or a hosted server (for best results). I use a twitter plugin for posts to show up in twitter. Also use the fasttube embed plugin. Find plugins at wordpress.org. Key to success is to make sure you know your wordpress version and whether the plugin will work with that version. Good luck! Kevin

Hi

I find the most useful plugin to be the All-In-One-SEO and Google Sitemap plugins. There's so many useful plugins. It depends on what you want your blog to do. I find that I avoid plugins that just do cool things but don't help sales because the loading time of a blog is affected by plugins and the more you have, the slower it will be. So I stick to the essentials.

Do exactly this.

For getting traffic; build "backlinks", submit your page to Digg, Ping your site everytime you post new content, make promotional videos and articles; submit those to YouTube & EzineArticles (also DocStoc) with your website link somewhere in them.

Those are the most simple and best ways to make sure you are getting indexed and put on page number 1 of google for your niche. Now, this will only work if your niche is being searched for and if you are already indexed (this can take a while). Just keep adding content, ping your site and create backlinks.

Hi Dennis and welcome!

I would go for both Privacy Policy and the All in One SEO Pack. Also check out WP Robot - even the free version is pretty good.
Generating traffic - a constant supply of original and relevant content is the best way. Also make sure you are targeting the right keywords using something like Micro Niche Finder.

You don't really say what the niches are, so this depends on if it's physical products.

One plugin I use all the time is Reviewazon, which creates well formatted posts and pages of Amazon product information. This is really great for monetising. It is a paid plugin, but it's way better than the free alternatives, and if you're in a niche where Amazon sells appropriate items (and Amazon sells a lot) it's well worth considering.
