do safelists work as an alternative to real lists of your own? Has anyone here had experience using safelists with success or failure?

Some people will tell you that safelists don't work, others will tell you that they work if you know how.

As for me, what I can tell you is this:

    1) since there are so many people using safelists, we can suppose that not all of them are dumb, newbies or people who failed or will fail soon.

    2) On the other hand, it's obvious that safelists cannot get you better results than traditional email marketing. If it's not that obvious, here is why:

    a) People's purpose for joining a safelist is not reading other people's ads, but bombarding the others with their own ads.

    b) People's purpose for joining a mailing list usually is getting more info (they are willing to read what they will receive). Please note the word usually. Many marketers use incentives to get subscribers. Some of these subscribers are just freebie hunters, they actually don't plan to read anything, they just want the freebie. There is no big difference between such subscribers and most of the safelists users. However, not all mailing lists, newsletters, ezines offer incentives in exchange of the subscription, and not all subscribers subscribing to an incentivized mailing list are freebie hunters.

The logic of that statement (mine) is not perfect at all indeed.

The reason behind it is that I know at least one known warrior who claims that he gets good results from safelists. If it's true or not, I really don't know. However, I cannot say to myself, "hey, X is a liar", so therefore I can publicly state "Safelists don't work. Period". I cannot do it ...

So ... All I can say is "In my opinion, safelists don't work" (this is different than "Safelists don't work"). Or I can say what I said in my previous post from this thread.

So ... yes, you're right about my logic. Maybe my logic was - unsual for me - more a woman logic than an analytic - male one. I hope I'm not hurting anyone, I'm just laughing at myself

I just gotta say I appreciate you pointing out that that is your opinion rather than a fact. I know you're big on ezine advertising (I can't argue with that! )

I probably say this in almost every safelist thread, but just because you (or someone else) doesn't get results, doesn't mean they don't work.

I don't know how to use PPC, so I don't have a right to say it doesn't work.

However, my 50 leads a day and daily sales says that safelists and traffic exchanges work extremely well... if you know how to use them.

            100% correct!

You still can share your opinion (for example, "for me PPC doesn't work"). No harm done if you share correctly an opinion. Even if the opinion itself is not correct from an absolute point of view (which we may not know!). It's hard for someone to say that she/he knows the TRUTH. If something happens to 1, 2,... 100 persons (it happens to us, but not to others), what can we say about that? Not too much. Actually, the fact that safelists work for you doesn't mean that the safelists work! The same, the fact that safelists don't work for X doesn't mean that safelists don't work. Do we have enough aggregate info so that to come closer to a conclusion (and the TRUTH)? I don't think so ... so we share opinions, we share our truth.

We share opinions based on our experience (which is a result of our education, skills, etc and may or may not be limited in comparison with other's people experience in the same field or in comparison with our own experience in another field) ... And so on and so forth

I didn't find a smiley, so ... I have to write it down: Thumb up! Keep doing what you're doing if it works better for you in comparison with other ways of getting leads and sales

Solomon I must say I agree with you. I think every marketing method has its pros and cons, and what may work for some, might not work for others. In the beginning I used safelists a lot, now I create opt-in lists. On occasion I still use a safelist, and do get some traffic from them. But just like with any email marketing campaign there are so many factors that can influence its results. I think everything is relevant! Relevant to what you are selling, how you approach the sale, the mood or your readers, and so on.

I do not think it will works as everyone joining it is using a junk mail email address and never read your message.
